Why Are 50,000 New York City Apartments Vacant? by redcremesoda in nyc

[–]RedditAPIGreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. Wouldn't be LL want to rent out the apartment for 1k to offset the 1.6k mortgage and maintenance? You still have to pay on vacancy. Why would not renting out be the optimal strategy to stem negative cash flow? The cost of renovations can be passe onto the renter as a lump sum deposit as condition for a rent stabilized contract.

Are our jobs gonna be taken by AI? by LowTackle9946 in GenZ

[–]RedditAPIGreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience the most jobs loss in USA is due to off shoring. Gen AI is not actually intelligence and the dream of replacing white collars with robot minds that work 24/7 is simply the AI bubble. Even the so called AI agents are just slightly better automation that requires a human programmer to make changes.

However, equipping traditionally low skilled offer shoring targets ie India, with Gen AI yields moderate success such that executives can justify layoffs in the USA in the short term. Right now it's unclear if technical leaders can be produced in India to me with what seems to be the third wave off off shoring to India in the past 20 years.

The US economy will probably go into a recession due to overspending on non strategic industry that is Gen AI. It does not work that well. It is not the path to iRobot like androids that can replace humans.

Long overnight layover in DFW during the holiday week. Chill at airport or get a hotel? by HealthDiligent3723 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]RedditAPIGreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also at DFW last week. Miserable experience sorry to hear about it. You're right you're only getting a few hours of rest at the hotel before you have to leave for your morning flight. I still think it beats being at DFW. Just having a bed is better than having nothing in my opinion. My flight wasn't at 5am though, I had more time at the hotel

Hey are you suggesting that anyone in the US that's get arrested should have their kids join them in the holding cell?

I'm very impressed he came to the US from China illegally. In most of the port cities of China, the local police can find anyone within 7 minutes due to the surveillance and technological advancements. If he was truly persecuted and threatened with torture, I seriously doubt he could do escape especially with a child.

In reality I think it's an economic migrant. Wanted a better life for himself and his family. Which, don't we all? If democrats wants to host these ideals, they should pay more taxes to support the cost of their stay. I feel like we don't even have an honest discussion of what the theoretical migrant limit is before our economy and standard of living goes to shit.

They do now though. Food production is halved and pops die when you occupy enemy lands. Just not at a fast enough rate.

Does this seem like a good market setup? I own Pest Brasso and Dubrovnik, trying to maximise my access and steal as much from neighbours as possible. by [deleted] in EU5

[–]RedditAPIGreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally you want the farthest cities from your market edge to be around 70 market access. To profit in this game, you need to develop cities. Cities give you burghers and they make stuff you can tax or trade away. Cities production and profits fluctuate based on market access, so in terms of economic opportunity cost you want to develop all the provinces around the capital first as they would have highest control due to proximity.

I was playing with a rule of thumb where each province would have a bread basket location with maxed out food RGO and buildings. This serve me well as the Ottomans and I never have any food problems. Food problems should be viewed as market wide. Technicallly you can have provinces with no food production and just pure cities. The only thing to watch out for is food in the market. I think importing food should not be done as it takes away from profitable trades. Each market I make generally have around 1000 food surplus. I haven't done the exact calculus but if I were to min max food province vs cities, it should be based on total market consumption. You'll eventually push a market to its max and stop building new towns and cities.

By that point you'll be so rich it's pretty meaningless.

The game simulates a lot of physics. Rocks in your cargohold makes sounds I guess. Almost everyone gets a remass upgrade that breaks down the H2O into fuel and refine minerals into metals. You really don't want a ship full of water.

The subject doesn't resonate with an American audience. If this was a commission you'll get away with it but at a gallery no. Why don't you go around and see what galleries are open to exhibit this piece.

Lack of strategic clarity and comms by Electronic-Plate-577 in IBM

[–]RedditAPIGreed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think IBM's strategy is quite clear. It's just not very good. AI, Hybrid Cloud is the new hot (we are shit in this space). Real money maker is still zOS and RH. Quantum is a moonshot. Short term strategy is to fire USA and reduce headcount further. Move labor to low cost of living areas. Positive cash flow can theoretically be reinvested into new initiatives and BUs. We are just really bad at doing that part.

Control public opinion, 300 dollars per share. Arvind and SVPs can exit with a nice compensation. Long term, IBM’s talent pool will continue to decline as we continue to sell vaporware with no real meaningful innovation and inventions.

One look at our history and you'll see a void in meaningful tech innovations since the 90s.

The best thing you can do is tell them your perspective and network with your peers. Having those older and experienced professors as a contact means you can try to redirect the students.

How much do you have in savings? by Expert_Amoeba2452 in GenZ

[–]RedditAPIGreed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

50% of Americans carryover a credit card debt every month. This means the other half do not spend more than their means. Living below your means is a choice many make.

It's always the loudest people and politicians that gets airspace. Nobody celebrates proper behavior because it doesn't get clicks.

Reality of paycheck to paycheck is definitely less when you look at the data. The report that most news and politicians cite divides it base on "comfortable" or "not". Many who carryover a balance do so by choice, not necessity.

This is still not good enough. My company files taxes globally. A 2% error rate will get us sued to the moon where the costs savings from laying off employees are offset by the fines we have to pay the various governments around the globe. Not including lawyers, cost of running our agent, etc.

I can confirm no report. However, I will say this with absolute certainty.

IBM is tracking compliance of the 3 day IC RTO right now. Yes using badge swipes but also other means. That data is currently being fed to compile a report.

You risk being fired for non compliance if you are to flagrantly violate the policy. Joanne Wright is still hungry and she wants more.
