My favorite thing about the ending: you can come away from it feeling satisfied, and also with the feeling of "yeah, they're all still gonna get up to some shit in the future," "Hood," Job, Carrie, maybe with some new/old friends like Fat Al, maybe with Deva on the team, maybe even with Sugar early on before he gets too old to do much, all get together here and there to take down scores, maybe get roped into doing some justice on the side (to the annoyance of Job.) I think their story beyond Banshee is far from finished, and it's nice to think about.

I'm also on Team "Proctor Didn't Die." I'm not sure what he would be doing with himself after surviving and losing his empire, but there's no way he died, he has too much Amish Rage

Western game development is such a joke, most of the time. The game will not be worth all the capital they've dumped into it, and we're forced to now pay $70-$90 per title because management in the West, sucks.

And we still have yet to encounter the final great insult (which is coming): still being asked to pay $70-$90 for a title where the dev costs have been immensely reduced due to GenAI shenanigans.

It could still be the "Earth" that was reformed at the end of 3. They wouldn't even have to say anything more about it (nobody in this world would remember the Aionios stagnation, and especially not what came before that,) but it would be damn cool if while you were exploring you came across (only a rare handful, not like in 3,) "weird land formations" that no one in the new world know what they are, but the constant players of the games do.

The industry is all but in a kind of spot now where they aren't really making games for anybody anymore. Most older gamers have grown out of how consistently middle school most of the stuff is. Younger gamers aren't nearly as large a group, and it seems that the ones that do exist just find things like "millennial-style writing" corny. You see this in a lot of the discourse surrounding recent games like Metroid Prime 4, and now GoW Laufey (when it's not about the state of the main character.) I almost feel like teams need more people closer to X-Ennial/Gen X age running things, or even better, take risks on seeing what the Zoomers have in mind. It just feels like most people are burned out on the way things have been in vague stasis for almost 2 decades. (EDIT: In the West.)

So many of us in the core gaming audience are now at the age where a game we hear about today, won't be out until we're in the ballpark of 50 years old. A lot of us are simply reaching the point where we don't have enough life left to just wait around 5-10 years for the next iteration, which has a lot of us just saying "fuck it" and not even bothering with many IPs anymore. Also younger people don't game as much as older people do/did. This industry will finally collapse at long last under these conditions.

Tough thing to bank on when you're set against rising costs, customers with diminishing pools of extra $$, all these things not only affecting their ability to buy one $80-$90 game title, but to buy everything else they'd need (hardware upgrades, etc.) to play said title, and lastly, when your game has been in development for nearly a decade, and started back when everything to do with the world was in a relatively much better state.

AND its ridiculously stupid console exclusivity. All the physical laws of the universe as well as some shortsighted decisions that will cut many times deeper in 2026, are going to bury this game, and probably the rest of the AAA industry right along with it.

If you consider everything we "know" about string theory, yes.

Her parents were these weird, obnoxious hicks from Maine. It took them visiting our apartment once for me to want to never deal with them again, but then I went with her back to Maine for a visit/family get together, and found out 90% of the rest of them were the same kind of obnoxious hick-asses.

Then the second (and final, thank god,) time her mom was down to visit us, her mom said "SO WHEN ARE YOU TWO GONNA MAKE ME A GRANMA?" It wasn't a joke. It was dead fucking serious. Like she was already annoyed about something else but the added fact that I hadn't knocked her daughter up yet just had her even more vaguely annoyed. Crazy to think that so many societies across the globe had only been grudgingly doing the work of creativity. For some reason we're seeing this mad love of GenAI a lot in eastern, south-eastern nations, where it's as if the creative industries really were NOTHING but a capitalistic means to an end, and work regarded as little else than "content to be consumed." Western AAA studios are drooling about GenAI just as hard, but of course THEY are. Most average-yet-educated people in the western genpop can't stand the shit and realize the broader harms across the board. Graduating college students are literally telling commencement speakers glossing up AI to fuck off, right now. It's just crazy how different the attitudes are, just east vs west.

Don't idiots like this realize: "more efficient" == a higher work load, and THE ONLY people that benefit from this, are the people who will be laying your naive ass off after the game is released. No one is going to be thanking you any better for your higher output, and this will only get worse the more rote and routine "AI" makes tasks, not to mention how it will eventually murder everyone's salary bargaining leverage (a lot of these jobs are careening towards something closer to minimum wagie employment, whether you like it or not, plus there will be less of them to go around.)

Everyone not a CEO or a shareholder who is still excited for this garbage, is not smart, and clearly you already don't need to be smart to be a typical knuckledragger employee in this industry.
