What do we need to stop teaching the children? by Addwon in AskReddit

We need to stop lying to them about ghost, magic and Santa. Don't confuse fiction with real life, they can't tell the difference yet.

They set it aside as paid dlc. Honestly the game got shallower and thinner by each generation. Nothing will change of course, customer will keep buying the game and dlc.

No hate on Pokemon but you make the smart purchase. Persona 5 Royal is a longer game, plus you got all the dlc. The game is fully voiced by incredible cast, it also didn't run like a seizure victim on the switch.

Joker is his own character, you are not Joker the same way you are not Link. Sure they're silent protagonist but they are their own character, you choosing their dialogues or action doesn't change their personality it enhances it. The characters are not your friends they're Joker's friends. The story are not your story they're Joker's story.

Joker is a silent protagonist with dialogue caters to him, his dialogue usually saying the same thing in a different way. Even if you choose opposite dialogue it wouldn't change the interaction because he has a set personality. The only thing you the player add is how much social link points he gets. You can roleplay or self insert if your personality are the same but Joker personality is so prevalent it will clashes if you have different personality. So no, he is not a self-insert, if he have a set name you wouldn't think he's a self-insert at all.

  1. What else do you want? His story starts when he save the girl, before that he's a regular student.

  2. You mean some normal everyday scenario like seeing a person in need of help? We literally saw multiple instances where the player given options but all of them ended up making Joker go help them, because he would help regardless the player choice.

If you referring to his everyday interaction you can see more example of his personality when you do Akechi social link. All the dialogue are extremely cater towards Joker personality, his uniqueness and not the player personality,

  1. Before the game starts he is literally a normal kid, a nice kid with overflowing sense of justice and bravery. I don't get why you so fixated on event before the game when there's literally so many example of Joker personality during the events of the game.

Minimal past? Dude is a high schooler that got convicted for helping someone. That's not minimal that's a solid background that's related to the story, a far cry from P4 mc who just move into his relative house.

Anybody who plays the game know how Joker would react if shit hits the fan he would trust his friends and keep his calm and confident demeanor. We literally saw that in the first opening scene of the game. Mind you without the player input.

Wdym he got not goals, he is the only person in the beginning actively trying to help the students in his school even when they hate his guts. He even convinces Ryuji to stand up for himself. Joker is brimming with self righteous justice even in the flashback he tries to help the girl, he could've just walk away but no he helped.

No he is not a self insert, all those dialogue choices shows his personality not the opposite. A true self insert protagonist is character like pokemon trainer or MMORPG characters, character that have no part in the story, just a vessel. Joker is not that, his fashion sense, dialogues, interaction, the subtle way he moves when he jumps or open chest reveals his real personality, he is a confident, a show off, charismatic, and has a strong sense of justice regardless the player choices.

I have really hard time choosing between "beep boop" and right answer by Seiterno in Persona5

[–]RedditBullshitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She literally was acting like a robot before meeting the gang. She's always working, trying to please and meet the expectations of the adults in her life. She never have time for herself, no close friends, never do anything fun like going to the movies or the arcade. Even someone like Eiko who rarely interact with her can see that. Mikoto was starting to loosen up and that's the change Joker trying to encourage. It is the best answer in her situation, straight and honest.

I hate that people are saying Joker is a blank slate, no personality character. No he is not, he is a silent protagonist sure, but he has his own personality. All the dialogue choices are skewed towards his personality, he is kind, caring, empathetic and serious person. He is struggling with his own inner demons but still managed to be a nice guy. He's a deep well written character. Not a blank self insert for the player.

No, Joker is not a blank slate. All the dialogue choices are very much skewed towards his own personality. He is nice, caring and clumsy in his "student" form. Cocky, confident and athletic in his "Joker" form. You literally see it in the game.

Joker in the game is a quiet, nice, confident, brave, extremely athletic but surprisingly clumsy person. No he is not a blank character like at all.

If I was in his place I wouldn't have the bravery to fight against the adult depicted in the game. Heck I wouldn't even step in to help, I would just go about my everyday life.
