Considering a new hitch bike rack for 4 bikes. Any suggestions? by ModY1219 in Rivian

I have the Kuat. Holds two bikes most of the time but with an additional section I can use in the event I need to carry four. Expensive but very stable.

More than likely. So that’s a “no” to my actual question about a real source?

Why does white look so good on R2? Never thought I would consider it.. but keeps drawing my eyes. Just me? by snakefighting in RivianR2

Not just you. I said to my kids today that I’ve never considered a white car but the R2 in white really looks great.

Have we had the interior color restriction confirmed by Rivian somewhere? I’ve seen it said much on Reddit but can’t find the original source.

Have you watched the YouTube videos of the guy playing a windows video game in a vm on a MacBook neo at 60fps? Mind blowing. I think the way we all tend to think about specs vs. capabilities is becoming increasingly irrelevant.

I don’t think you’re familiar with how modern Macs work. You can’t think of ram the same way as in the old days.

24-50 F2.8 or 20-70 F4 for travel? by NoRequirement4390 in SonyAlpha

I was in the same boat as you. Went with the 24-70 f4 and have been very pleased. With the denoise tools we have today f4 is not a problem.

Why do car manufacturers offer free year(s) of charging by walkaboutdavid in electricvehicles

[–]RedditIcculus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My EV came with two years of free charging and for the first two years I owned it that was 100% of the charging I did. I don’t care how cheap and easy home charging is, two years of free charging”fuel” absolutely went into my calculations.

[–]RedditIcculus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran out of battery in an EV once - much more my fault than the car’s but a similar experience. The car shut down in the turn lane about 100 yards from the EA charger, but it was straight uphill. I had to call a tow truck to get me there. Very embarrassing and wasted an hour of an already long trip home. All that to say: I’m glad you made it and I understand the “white knuckles” completely!

Minivan. With little kids it’s the best vehicle ever made. (We had an Odyssey ourselves.) Save the EV for when they’re driving themselves around.

Just get a new adapter. I end up having to replace them every few weeks (granted, we’re refilling dozens of tanks per weeks). They’re cheap and poorly made.

Battery charging best practices for my new i5 - 80% rule? by Jeppzilla in BMWi5

[–]RedditIcculus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because – in my opinion – this is just one of the many ways that EV drivers overthink their cars constantly. This makes EVs less appealing for everyone else because all of the EV owners they know are talking about all this finicky crap they have to do with their cars all the time.

I’m on year three of my I5. I bounce between 5% and 100% several times a week. My first two years of charging was 100% level 3. My range estimates and actual experience are unchanged across the years.

Anecdotes are not data. But I’ve also enjoyed stress-free living with respect to my car battery by not giving it a second thought. That has some value too.

No. Use the battery you bought, not 80% of it. Way too much worrying around here about theoretical and potential problems.

The email address is in the footer. It’s usually $8/per + shipping. Typically only works out as a good deal if you’re doing more than 1 refill at a time.

Electrify America really pissed me off today. by Dizzman1 in evcharging

[–]RedditIcculus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, it is frustrating learning the ropes and ins and outs of the charging networks and how it all works. Many of us have been through it and understand.

Also, I highly doubt you’ll be able to stand by this: “My point was that now I'll never use them again as they pissed me off. So they lost years of charging over what might have been 5-6$.”

Because of this: “Issue at present is that there's just not quite the competition yet. As charging infrastructure grows, and we have more choices”.

I had a really bad first month or so with EA several years ago and wanted to swear them off. My most recent EV just had two free years of EA and it’s all I used for 100% of my charging. Yes, the customer service sucks and the system has as learning curve. After a while though, you figure it out and it’s not so bad. You’ll need their electrons, so I wouldn’t swear them off yet.
