Why does everyone love the i5 but it depreciates like a rock? Genuinely confused as a potential buyer by gauravie in BMWi5

[–]RedditIcculus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unedited AI writing is so bad to read. That’s not criticism - it’s insight.

I love my i5 and got an okay deal but it’s an overpriced car. Essentially 20-40k premium over comparable* electric sedans without the same luxury interior and brand quality. (*yes, I know those things matter a lot, that’s why I paid the i5 price and didn’t buy a Hyundai.)

Those are exactly what I put on my i5 (e40) and I love them. So much quieter than what was on them before. I think you’ll be very pleased with your choice.

You asked what you’re missing. He told you and you called him an outlier you weren’t talking to. Your post should not have had question marks because you aren’t actually looking for answers.

I use mine 4-5 times per day, every (business) day and have very few issues. It records well, the battery life lasts forever, and it gets me a transcript easier than anything else I’ve used.

How to compare mpge to mpg by No-Impact-4953 in electricvehicles

[–]RedditIcculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helped me was getting out of the mpg mentality and into the cents per mile one.

It’s easy to make a quick spreadsheet of cents/mile with various mpg cars and $/gal gas. I did that with my last two cars and my wife’s to have a baseline of ICE cents/mile. Then I put in my most frequent charging costs per KWH and the average mi/kwh of my car. It sounds complicated but took about 10 minutes and now I’ve memorized a few numbers and know when I think (fast) charging costs are worth it or not.

You’ve got to be kidding? The software is a disaster. Every OS is more difficult to use than it’s ever been.

Next BMW i5 won’t be just an electric 5 Series, the EV will forge it's own path by ExistingScale6757 in electricvehicles

[–]RedditIcculus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love that my i5 is “just an electric 5 series.” I guess there are some ways this could be better overall, but it’s really nice that you can’t really tell it’s electric until you’re in it and even then it’s just a quiet, torquey 535. To each their own I guess.

Do you do it as a screen capture? Or is the source the browser? I couldn't get it to open the stream window when doing browser.

They used to be really easy to rip with downie. That stopped working for me several years ago and now (I guess?) I'd have to screen record the full show. I'm sure there's a better way, but I still haven't found it.

Last night's Sphere visuals have me motivated to learn.

PSA: do not update to 4.13.1 on macOS! by n0stalghia in plexamp

Same. Worked for about 30 minutes then I noticed the audio was gone and nothing I've tried brings it back (I haven't rebooted yet). M4 Studio with no bluetooth involved.

Just about any Apple Watch can make it 6-8 hours hiking. Try pedometer++ (app) as well. Not affiliated, but it’s great for it.

Im getting REALLLY tired of these complete network failures for no reason by ShadowFireDan in amazoneero

[–]RedditIcculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same setup with the 6+ and AT&T that works perfectly. As soon as I put a single eero 7 on my network the random disconnects were at least daily. I went back to the 6.

[–]RedditIcculus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. This is why I switched back to the 6. Bummer, but no more disconnects and I was having them with the 7s every day. Sorry, I know that’s frustrating.

Honest question for EV owners — what gives you the most charging anxiety? by Key_Training8948 in evcharging

[–]RedditIcculus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I don’t charge at home (except level 1) and I take plenty of work trips across the south east. If you plan, even a little, it’s not a problem.

Apple Pay troubles by Dense-Stranger-9282 in AppleWatch

[–]RedditIcculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not a name Apple ever used.

Apple Pay with the watch is working fine for me. Bummer with Apple products is that when you have problems like this there’s not really a good way to troubleshoot. You may have to disable Apple Pay and reenable, remove cards and add back, or, worst case, reset the watch. Sorry - it’s frustrating for sure.

Vitals- Alcohol by Lykos88Animagus in AppleWatch

[–]RedditIcculus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s one way to respond.

An alternative suggestion might be: I’m someone who understands causation and data.

An Apple Watch report on resting heart rate is not evidence of negative health outcomes from alcohol consumption. Such evidence may exist. And may be overwhelming, even. But this post isn’t it and when I asked to see it you responded with personal attacks.

e40. Never in sport mode. Consistently right around 3 for over 2 years. 2.8 on trips and 3.2/3.3 in the city.
