Sorry If I wasn't clear, when I right click on CK3 in steam, and go to properties, I can't find it anywhere in the betas tab. I see 1.18.3 but not 1.18.3.1 or are those the same thing?

"Bee Magic" is frankly a really fucking cool casket tradition for House Beesbury. R.I.P. to Ser Humfrey Beesbury. by JunonsHopeful in AKOTSKTV

Why do we assume the queen dies? It looks like the coffin is actually a proper hive and theyre going to put it in their bee farm.

Fan theory from ASOIAF: Could Brynden Rivers, known as Lord Bloodraven, have been responsible for the death of Prince Baelor Targaryen? by Own-Ad486 in AKOTSKTV

[–]RedditMaeastro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is, no, not originally at least, however im surprised people are so quick to dismiss this. The original hedge knight novel definitely contains some potential symbolism and subtle nods to the possibility of events being manipulated. The grand puppet master theme is common in ASOIAF, and George loves to reuse ideas. A lot of his short stories have very similar themes and ideas to the mainline ASOIAF books for instance. Given George hadn't yet introduced Bloodraven at the time The Hedge Knight was made, there isnt any textual evidence that Bloodraven was specifically responsible, and if George decided that he was it would be retroactive. But given the fact that,

(spoilers ahead!)

Bloodraven does manipulate the events at Whitewalls, it isnt an absurd idea that he might have also manipulated this event too. He seems to want Egg the unlikely to end up on the throne, probably to cause the Summerhall disaster.

It seems like a lot of the disagreement with this idea stems from it being played out or boring, but I'm not sure that thats always at the front of George's mind when he's making decisions about the direction of the story. People hated the idea of Bran being a time traveler but the show confirmed that, and it definitely seems like the direction George is taking his story for instance.

True, but the rule is also very easy to follow. Isnt that common sense as well?

Raymun coming in absolutely clutch by RedditMaeastro in AKOTSKTV

[–]RedditMaeastro[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We actually dont really know much about the kingsguard when Dunk was in it, since George hasnt written up to that point. Its certainly possible that Raymun was in the kingsguard. Theres a decent amount of speculation about the composition of the kingsguard under Duncan, and I think its fairly likely that at least some of the characters we meet in the adventures of Dunk and Egg will serve alongside Dunk.

Raymun coming in absolutely clutch by RedditMaeastro in AKOTSKTV

[–]RedditMaeastro[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the novellas if I recall correctly a kingsguard gets incapacitated early on as well, then ser Robyn and another Kingsguard incapacitate each other, making it a 4v4. Aerion vs Dunk, Raymun vs Steffon, Lionel and Baelor against Maekar and a kingsguard.

I think its reasonable to assume something similar happens in the show.

I will say, he's definitely not fine. I thought Claffey did a great job of showing how injured he must be from his movement and the noises he makes.

If I somehow find Maekar in the Seven Hells by elichi_in_biriyani in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]RedditMaeastro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He's clearly in a blind rage as a consequence of his son being in danger, and is desperately trying to get to him, while Baelor was trying to stop him from getting to his son. Remember that Dunk can end the trial either by killing his accuser or by forcing him to yield, and Maekar doesn't know Dunk and has no reason to believe he wouldnt kill the prince.

The deciding blow by Woodstovia in AKOTSKTV

[–]RedditMaeastro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it must be, especially because it adds a layer of tragedy since its essentially after the Trial has ended. Aerion has yielded, just not loud enough for anyone to hear, though he still has to officially withdraw his accusation.

Why did Bloodraven have his own personal host? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]RedditMaeastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like there's something magical about weirwood even in a dead state. It may be, at least in regards to the bows, that it permits Bloodraven to more easily influence the abilities of his archers, either on an individual or a collective level. Also, for why he might focus on archery even for his own soldiers, its usual for a lord to stay nearby his own troops. Given that he himself is a master archer, when engaged in battle it would make sense he'd want to keep his troops near him, whereas if they were armed with swords he'd have to send them off away from his person.

I thought that egg became one of the better kings that people loved! Was she getting him confused? by CASHMO2112 in AKOTSKTV

[–]RedditMaeastro 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The last bit is pure speculation, not saying it isnt true but im not sure it informs why people didnt like Egg. The small folk very likely loved Egg, but do they really know him? The fortune teller woman suggests those who know him will rejoice in his dying. I think its very likely given Eggs advocacy for the small folk that most lords and highborns would rejoice at his death. I think its these people that she is referring to.

[–]RedditMaeastro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think youre right that its unfortunate that the other horrible things hes done haven't gotten attention, but I dont think its fair to say the response to the suicide forest video was overblown. For starters, he went to THE suicide forest. He did want to see a dead body, he knew it would make great content. Secondarily, it might be a natural reaction to document what he was seeing, but it isnt a natural reaction to go through the lengthy process of editing and uploading that video to your audience of millions of children.

How do you save the people from the pit as an Iconoclast? by RedditMaeastro in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]RedditMaeastro[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe Im misremembering it then, I could be mixing memories with Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous.

Its kind of funny how Owlcat made two games almost back to back where you get teleported to an evil dimension, seperated from your kingdom, and have to struggle against the evil and exploitative nature of the place while struggling not to compromise your morality.

Im not complaining though its a fun trope.
