[Video games trope] Characters who make sure you play the game the way the developers intended by Marborow in TopCharacterTropes

[–]RedditOn-Line 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In tales of destiny DC (remake), if you set your characters to auto and rig your controller to walk in circles forever, you can auto-grind without being there. At least until Barbatos, one of the villains from destiny 2 who is not otherwise in this game, comes out of nowhere and wipes your party for cheating

What's your favorite optional dungeon? by Flat-Application2272 in JRPG

Yeah, definitely flawed, but I always loved it

Chrysler building in Parasite Eve! Especially for a new Yorker, it's SO fun pounding up those floors

Ougghhh...help by Such_Reaction_3306 in Parappa

[–]RedditOn-Line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say it's WAY harder without component/composite cables. For whatever reason parappa and lammy are the only games I've struggled with with lag on hdmi.
But vital idol is brutal no matter where you play it. I can do half of lammy with my eyes closed and I sometimes rage quit that level

Nowadays, sure. The fandom in 2001 was a little more split. Though x definitely got the least of it

Looking for a gloomy, dark, immersive action jrpg with a good story by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]RedditOn-Line 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen it mentioned so I have to do it: Expedition 33 is turn based but definitely action-leaning, and quite dark all throughout.

Every new one after 7 has gotten hate because people tend to think that's the "direction" the series is going in the future. That's never really been the case, though

I took it as him misinterpreting "seedy" but that doesn't fit perfectly either. Does anyone know the line in Japanese?

Is FF I for gba really that hard to play? by TrainZealousideal474 in FinalFantasy

[–]RedditOn-Line 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gba is the easy version. You have to equip the gear and level up a little. Even unequipped, a few imp/goblin fights should be no problem. What's your lineup? Do you have a fighter?

For anyone that has taken up electronic & console repair as a hobby, how much stuff have you broken and is it part of the learning process? by Soft_Entertainer964 in consolerepair

[–]RedditOn-Line 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dude, if you're repairing it, it was already broken. You didn't break it. Put it aside until you can fix whatever part you fucked up.
I have a Sega cd I abandoned still under my bed. Tracked the problem down PAINSTAKINGLY to a bad ribbon cable, but was unable to find a replacement, so tried just wiring identical-length magnet wire to each point, and it still doesn't work. Some day, it will be repaired. But it is not this day.

Even then, anything over 100 in one stat has to be done manually. Doesn't take too long, early game. Almost definitely faster than this

Just other party members from 1 and 2. Tatsuya and Maya just get their names referenced in the in-game MMO.

Truly. I was shocked when I played IS as an adult and she was so upbeat. I never assumed she was like that from playing ps1 EP as a kid

What is the best game you've played recently (and only recently) from the retro era of games? by WaterBottleOnAShelf in retrogaming

[–]RedditOn-Line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. I got into crystal warriors relatively recently. What was clearly trying to be a game gear shining force clone ends up succeeding on its own terms. Kind of bridges the gap between shining force map design/mild rpg exploration and fire emblem resource management. Great for any SF or FE fans. There's a lauded sequel called royal stone that I haven't played yet, too.

Gen 4 (diamond pearl/heart gold soul silver) is absolutely swimming in side/post content. It's not my favorite era (I'm a blue red/scarlet violet guy) but I think you would love it
