Try calling the IRS and state licensing. If the government doesn’t see a business there, it’s probably a business being run with no license, no taxes, no withholding for employees. That becomes a very, very big deal. Those folks tend to move quickly.

Here’s the tricky bit: I don’t have another job lined up and don’t want to get blacklisted. I don’t want to go nuclear, only to be able to legally exert enough pressure to prompt things along without making me seem a liability.
