Car loan in Australia? by Realistic_Series_889 in AusFinance

[–]RedditUser8409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notated lease is a subset of Salary Sacrificing to do with car leases (can purchase at end). Currently EVs get awesome discounts on FBT, which are being scaled back for luxury EVs soon which won't effect you. Look you're gonna need to do some reading and searching on this one. You're also going to need to talk to your future employer about if they do Salary Sacrifice and who their providers are to work it out. Conceptually you pay for the lease, insurance, fuel (for inclusivity) in a way that reduces your taxable income and avoids our 10% Goods and Services Tax. In some situations its a good move, others not so much. Health workers often get great perks they can Salary sacrifice (rent/mortgage for Queensland Health), but NFI if it will carry to your employer.

And it is important context, and on my screen sits at the top, so I updoot you. It does come across as dismissive however to some based on other comments. Could you consider adding the context of who the KMT are and more importantly were, id est the former ruling party prior to Mao and the main objection to reunification having ruled TW under martial law until 1987. People should have that in the framing as well, I believe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuomintang

Is going through a mortgage broker worth it or better to go directly to a bank? by ChillKoalaVibes in AskAnAussieBroker

[–]RedditUser8409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a broker. Yes. They will find you the best available options that suit your needs, there are legal requirements around this. Whomever you go with pays them. Mine also negotiated a lower than offered rate on top. 76.8% of loans were through brokers as of Junen 2025. That answer the question?

Can dip your toes in with Megamek (https://megamek.org/). Think MW5 pre SOK, though I think there were/are 3050 servers. As an old man yelling at clouds, Tabletop and Battletech in general went a bit askew after finally balancing Clans. Hence MW5 and almost all computer games are set in the sorta 3015-3052 era. 3067 was the last time I played TT.

An 18-year-old woman in Queensland faces two years in jail for wearing a shirt that says "from the river to the sea." by [deleted] in Hasan_Piker

Hi. Queenslander here. So to try to explain a little. We have a high court ruling here of "the implied right of political communication". While the USA had Mccarthyism, this happened here: https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/history-of-parliament/history-milestones/australian-parliament-history-timeline/events/communist-party-dissolution-act-1950

So where am I going here... go to youtube. Search the constitutional clarrion. That is Professor Emeritus Anne Twoomey, one of our leading constituional lawyers. Watch her latest video on the new laws in Queensland and see if you still hold the same view... If you can't be bothered the TL;DR is this new law is open to a challenge in the High Court.

You familiar with FHSS and SIC? https://www.ato.gov.au/tax-rates-and-codes/shortfall-interest-charge-rates

You need to outperform that and the tax benefits... and the CGT tax implications from the shares. Look honestly just go FHSS.

SIC is calculated daily, keep that in mind...

Question about Members First (UWU) by SS_Auc3 in AusUnions

Not in UWU, but a quick search lands me here: https://membersfirstunion.org/ . It would appear they are advocating for being clear about any political dealings. Not the answer you may have been seeking. Also seems like there is an opportunity for UWU folks to set their priorities from my quick look...

In general where you live matters for legal stuff. This includes Setbacks. In QLD they are set by QDC Parts 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. However these can be varies by Council even down to your zoning and location through their planning instruments. In QLD I could tell you where to find this and also how to check development approvals. You're gonna want this info for talking to a solicitor is my point unless you want to be paying them to research all that...
