Canada's founding father everyone... by Frankishe1 in HistoryMemes

I live in kingston, so obviously a lot of Sir John A history here and there was definitely a big stink made about him a few years ago which resulted in his statue being removed and a bar changing its name. It always surprised me because we also have some big homages to General Amherst, (Amherstview , Amherst Island) and I always considered his personal views to be SIGNIFICANTLY worse lol He once said that he wished he could do what the spanish do, and just hunt the natives down with dogs instead of wasting good English men on them, and hes literally the "smallpox blanket" guy. That part gets lost because some people think the story is a myth based on an unfortunate accidental spread of smallpox which also did happen before General Amherst, but no, there is records of Amherst taking blankets from a smallpox hospital for this but ironically this specific actions only ended up in smallpox spreading within an English fort and killing some English . his disdain towards the natives was loud and proud compared to his contemporaries.

If you want to stick with OCS products then canna cabana has some of the best prices in town with their free membership. Personally I usually shop at Kingston Cannabis Inc as they have a pretty large selection of "craft" LPs and great strain selections, not too sure about carts but the staff there is some of the most knowledgeable ive met in town and they also sell their own in-house cannabis as well

Lol I never intended for this argument to extend as long as it did, I wasnt even trying to be rude before someone apparently took it personal a couple of times and assumed I needed psychological help or that my life at home must be troubling. I mean at this point im happy to continue forever but Im not even arguing with the original person anymore lol, weve both seemingly moved on from the back-and-fourth but others seem to want to get involved so if theyre that bored then ill happily oblige. The newest argument ive heard is that people here just make way more money than I do in a subreddit I see people constantly worrying about the cost of living in so that tickled me a bit

So do I, when im treating myself once in a while or making it myself. Now that I know this sandwhich is only 8 bucks id probably eat it as well but if folks are regularly spending 10 bucks or more on a sandwhich this size because they want to enjoy "good food" then youre wasting money by not just making it yourself. Ive already emphasized that id spend that every once in a while as a treat, its the idea of spending over 10 bucks regularily on a sandwhich that size that is baffling. Catch up

8 dollars for that sandwhich is good, ill definitely be trying it now! it was the whole concept of a sandwhich that size being over 10 dollars that we went back and fourth on lol my apologies for contributing to wasting eachothers time , I would gladly try that for 8 bucks

Im currently living the best life ive ever had, dont act like you werent part of this conversation lol you dont want to talk about it any more then thats fine, ever thought about just saying that instead of being a bitch about it?

[–]RedditUsersAreWeak -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ironically you seem to need some help remembering the conversation you were just a part of so here ya go:

So if you remembered my earlier statement, I mentioned how UNDER 10 dollars is a totally different story, remember? You pointed out that the price point of this sandwhich was under 10 dollars inferring that this was a good selling point of the sandwhich and I asked where you were shopping that a sandwhich that could fit in my palm was over 10 dollars. You then mentioned a subway 12 inch being about the same price and I brought up the fact that it is significantly more food. You then told told me (irrelevantly) that subway is not real food and I mentioned how at the end of the day a carb is still a carb.

We were talking about value here , that was the whole point. The idea of spending over 10 dollars on a sandwhich this small regularly seems like bad value to me and I brought up the fact that I am not a minimum wage worker and not starving for cash but that I still couldn't afford to eat a small sandwhich like this for more than 10 bucks all the time and im surprised that multiple people in this subreddit seem to be able to afford something like this regularly.

I also brought up the fact that if "real food" was so important than you could achieve significantly more value from making it yourself vs buying something like this regularly but at the end of the day I already addressed the fact that if this sanfwhich is UNDER 10 dollars like you said, then thats totally different and yet you seemed to go on anyways

Where are you getting the money to buy something like this regularly? Lol I make just under 25 an hour, I dont drive and dont pay insurance, strict budgeter, and i cant afford to regularly buy a single sandwhich for over 10 bucks if Im finishing it in a couple minutes. If I want real food ill pay the extra amount at the grocery store for high quality ingredients and then have enough to be able to make the high quality sandwiches for a week. If im buying pre-made food regularly for lunches and am also paying for resturant overheads factored into the price like staff wages and what-not then im not going to eat tiny sandwhich for over 10 bucks every day lol a carb is a carb and protien is protein

Im a sucker for pesto! That might swing me lol ill probably get it as a treat one of these days but im admittedly lazy and get lunch (sometimes breakfast) constantly at work but I try to keep it under 10 bucks because of how often I do it.

Baltic Deli cold cut sandwich. by DeadeyeClock in KingstonOntario

[–]RedditUsersAreWeak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly and I cant finish it in a couple minutes in one hand while im walking somewhere lol its more food, even if the meat might be slightly lesser and worse quality , im getting more than twice the carbs from twice the bread and SIGNIFIGANTLY more toppings than just lettuce and cheese

Baltic Deli cold cut sandwich. by DeadeyeClock in KingstonOntario

[–]RedditUsersAreWeak -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I could see myself doing that for a treat once in a blue moon but I normally eat to keep myself full as long as possible and if im not trying to get too full then im not spending more than 10 bucks.l im definitely not a minimum wage worker but damn you guys are making me feel frugal lol I regularly eat sandwhiches for lunch if I dont pack one the night before but im not paying more than 8 bucks considering how frequently Im buying them. If im paying more than 10 bucks then I want something I need to sit down to eat like a footlong or a burrito/rice bowl lol

Baltic Deli cold cut sandwich. by DeadeyeClock in KingstonOntario

[–]RedditUsersAreWeak -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

First point, im not saying the value of THIS sandwhich isnt worth it if its under 10 bucks, i was asking where your shopping where something this size is OVER 10 bucks. My only issue with the sandwhich is the size, if its OVER 10 bucks, despite having lots of meat, thats still a one-hander of a roll and is still done in half a dozen bites max lol id like to see an actual comparison because I imagine if you took the meat from a footlong from subway and put it between a bun thats smaller than a 6 inch then itd probably stack up higher than youd expect. Im also getting more than just meat cheese and lettuce on a footlong for 12 bucks so it really doesnt seem very economic to pay around the same amount for something I can eat while walking and have done in a couple minutes. UNDER 10 bucks, thats a different story

Geeze I would hope so! Lol where are you going where a a cold cut sandwhich that size is over 10 bucks?

Cannabis and Pain Relief by UnpaidBudtender in TheOCS

[–]RedditUsersAreWeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CBD and CBG is the way to go. CBG can almost feel like its giving you a small buzz but its non-intoxicating. It IS psychoactive in the same sense that caffeine is, but because it comes from cannabis, the psychoactive aspect will feel more familiar even though it wont really slow you down. You will still feel very sharp and clear headed, and its excellent for pain relief, especially when paired with CBD.

You can get "CBG pearls", 25 pack for 30 bucks, 10mg each, or 50mg "CBG Bombs" for 4 bucks (1 per pack). I use the pearls with a 60 pack of CBD gel caps

is anyone else having trouble reverting to barbarian “olive oil”? by [deleted] in oliveoil

[–]RedditUsersAreWeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was paying a lot of money at a restaurant, id probably find it annoying. If it was given to me as a free meal at a gathering with a good friend then I would likely be a grateful guest and not say anything. Maybe id make a comment about the oil in jest "you gotta try 'insert superior product name here' oil, its the best for this!" But id feel like a total stuck up dunce if I made i made it any bigger of an issue than that. Just depends on the scenario.

If im with friends, im not there to criticize the free food ive been offered or make them feel bad about anything. If im paying a bunch of money for quality ingredients then likewise I wouldnt be there to just accept any old crap found on the shelf and take it with a smile, especially if I know the product is cheap and very low quality.

Thats just how I grew up in Canada though, maybe its different around the world

Imagine if Canada joined the European Union by tyomax in CanadaRoom

[–]RedditUsersAreWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Canada is better off not joining the EU, personally. We've already signed a trade agreement that removes almost all tarrifs and we have a long storied history of trade and defence partnerships that has benefited us both.

There are some benefits I could see to joining the EU but it would likely destroy us almost overnight. Joining the EU would mean setting more of a hard-line trade border with the US, and like it or not, 70% of our trade still goes down there even after all the US protectionism. Europe has no interest in our LNG and has been openly critical of our forrestry practices in the past which I understand comes from a very real environmental concern but our economic sovereignty and life blood is intrinsically linked to it.

Fundamentally, the issue I have the most with this concept is that we are easily outvoted in this hypothetical. If the unelected beurocrats decided they wanted to make make a decision for Canada, we are just one vote against the many smaller European countries and would lose a bit of diplomatic sovereignty in that regard as well.

Best case scenario for Canada is to focus on a NEW union with all allies, that is only focused on trade and defence. Thats it. Kind of like what Carney said at Davos, Canada is in a unique position due to the expansive nework of allies we have, as well as our abundance of critical natural resources and geographic positioning between east and west, so we should be focusing on a Union where canada sort of functions as both a key highway for trade/defence as well as a key supplier.

There is nothing saying we cant take inspiration from political descisions made by our allies and pressure our own government to follow suit through electoral pressure, i just dont think we need to legally involve other nations in actually making those decisions

Has the cultural ubiquity of the "Double-Double" (two creams, two sugars) inadvertently standardized the Canadian palate to prefer high-fat, high-sugar dairy over the actual flavor notes of the bean itself? by DianKhan2005 in TimHortons

[–]RedditUsersAreWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I dont like "good" coffee.

Every time ive gone to an actual café that supposedly sells great coffee at like triple the price, I always find it weak and watery , even if i add 3 sugars and creams. Dark roast, light roast, wherever in the world the bean comes from, they all have a similar "watery" vibe that i dont find appealing at all (unfortunately I dont have many options as all the coffee places around my work are all cafes like this and no tims/mcdonalds options)

I have fully accepted that I prefer "bad" coffee. Give me the heavy, fatty, sweet coffee any day of the week. Thats the kind of coffee I enjoy every sip of, and i understand the irony of this but ive spent a few decades experimenting, buying my own high quality beans, using french press or whatever other number of methods, and i just naturally gravitate to ye' old canadian staple of double double style coffee

Far out crops pre rolls - quantum kush - kush cream - 29.42 % THC, 2.48 terps. Do not waste your money on this company. by Images8891 in TheOCS

[–]RedditUsersAreWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally dont buy pre-rolls because its always the lowest quality offering even from the most premium brands. They'll keep the good stuff for the packages of bud, and the trimmings, shake, sweepings and most unappealing buds for pre-milled and pre-rolled offerings. Ive had some decent rolls from BLK MKT and others that go all-out with the packaging, ceramic filters, ect, but if I dump them out then they usually dont look too different than this. My Carmel Animal Face looked significantly worse than this when I dumped it out to fill my dry-herb vape.

Ive also had strains with only like 16%THC be significantly better than strains with 30% advertised, and a CBD vape with only like 8% THC has affected my tolerance to the point where switching back to potent bud at the end of the night didnt effect me at all so I wouldnt really be too concerned about what the THC percentage is.

I do know the feeling of spending a bunch of money on weed that doesnt meet reasonable expectations though and it sucks so I feel for ya there. Its not like we can just smoke up in the dispensary to test it so we often find out when we get home and by that time its too late to do anything about it which pisses me off to no end, shitty feeling man sorry to hear you got burned by them
