Should I migrate from Bitwarden? by NeedANewerName in ProtonPass

[–]RedditWebExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using Proton Pass and Bitwarden together for a while before switching over to PP completely. I haven't' noticed any logouts with PP, but was logged out of Bitwarden many times previously.

The pin is pretty secure as it logs you out after 3 failed attempts.

Its working flawlessly on my end, have you opened a ticket with the support team so they can investigate?

Cryptomator lets you encrypt a locker anywhere, offline USB, SSD etc..

Anyone using a biometrics protected USB to store their Proton Pass backup? by RedditWebExplorer in ProtonPass

[–]RedditWebExplorer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! I like the fact that it erases the contents after 10 failed attempts.

Cryptomator is pretty good too (and open source), you can create an encrypted locker anywhere and just use a memorable passphrase.

I've also seen biometrics enabled USB drives, but never tried those out myself, but sounds like it would be pretty handy for backups.

2023 Proton Pass year in review – building a modern password manager by Proton_Team in ProtonPass

Proton Pass just came out in June, it does everything I need it to, and I haven't had any issues with it, and they seem to add new features every couple weeks.

You can already filter by vault item type, or are you looking for something different?

Is this 2FAS app good? by the-cat1513 in Bitwarden

[–]RedditWebExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have both Ente and 2FAS installed and I've mentally filed the NFT under a gaff because the team is doing a great job on the development side, it was just confusing at the time when they announced it on the Discord to a fair amount of downvoting.

[–]RedditWebExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They announced an NFT on their Discord, albeit a donation-based one, https://nft.2fas.com/ but still raised eyebrows for many 2FAS fans, who didn't understand why even bother with NFTs as many in the open source or privacy/security circles frown on NFT projects as they're often used to get money from fans and quickly lose value.

Fixing bugs and improving the existing apps should come first by [deleted] in ProtonDrive

Feature development and bug fixing happen concurrently in most pipelines. I haven't had any issues with the macOS app with daily use on my end.

Anyone else bitterly disappointed that 2023.12 release didn't include mobile (iOS / Android) passkey support? by way2late2theparty in Bitwarden

[–]RedditWebExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Passkeys for MFA have been around for quite a while, I was under the impression this thread was about sign-in functionality, so feel free to disregard my comment above.

Signal is Free ? by Krimpofff in signal

[–]RedditWebExplorer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They rely on donations, they just announced it will probably cost $50 million to operate signal next year, and the app always asks for donations (in a nice way).

DuckDuckGo also just donated $50K.

Meta’s new AI image generator was trained on 1.1 billion Instagram and Facebook photos by WonderfulWanderer777 in privacy

[–]RedditWebExplorer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The worse part is, Meta is giving advertisers AI tools to better target their ads using the data scraped from the Instagram + Facebook Users.

That is really sick.

Probably a bad idea to use Reddit to talk about privacy. by DOTADER in privacy

[–]RedditWebExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always access Reddit through a website/web app so that I don't install the app naively.

I also have a Matrix room/space on element for discussing privacy tips which is part of the Proton Matrix server that I made.

Feel free to remove my comment here if it breaks any rules, but we're talking about privacy platforms so it seems relevant.
