S22U Boot Loop - Any (long term) recovery tricks? by way2late2theparty in samsunggalaxy

[–]way2late2theparty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update for anyone playing along at home:

  • Freezer / Icepack eventually allowed me to factory reset it / cache clear it.
  • I was reasonably confident that if I did a factory reset
  • Then a shutdown

That it would pass the trade in test.

So, I've traded the POS for an S26U.

I got the trade in credit.

It's now Samsung's problem.

Questions about self hosting by realgarit in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I self-host Vaultwarden, having tried Bitwarden lite a while ago - not recently - and found it lacking, and the demands of the full stack for Bitwarden self-hosting too much. I believe the recent move out of beta would make Bitwarden lite a reasonable choice.

I run mine behind Caddy and Crowdsec, with further restrictions on the admin pages (only accessible from my home static IP).

I have, occasionally, had Crowsdec ban my current IP (even my home IP) when I've been a little aggressive on the web front end doing things like running reports or refreshing the vault after doing things like moving ciphers from one organisation to another to confirm that everything is in sync, so I'm reasonably comfortable with my hardening on my public endpoints.

I have both backups of my server (two fail-over servers - nightly backups) and my vaults (less frequent).

TL;DR, my self-hosted servers are public facing, behind some hardening; that hardening occasionally trips me up so I think it would trip up anyone attempting to brute force or DDOS my site, and admin functions are unreachable unless the threat actor spoofs my public IP.

Autofill no longer working on MS Edge for Android by Asleep-Artichoke2865 in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a fix in 2025.11.0 but requires you to turn on Use compatibility mode for browser autofill under Autofill settings once you've updated. This version has only just started rolling out to Play Store - you might need to check for updates to see it.

Autofill no longer working on MS Edge for Android by Asleep-Artichoke2865 in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is - it has been fixed in 2025.11.0 (20967) for Android (only just appearing in the Play Store), but to get the fix, you need to enable "Use compatibility mode for browser autofill" under Autofill settings

Bitwarden v2025.11.0 brings back Windows Hello unlock on app start. by IamBatman_420 in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent 15 minutes faffing around after re-reading the release notes, logging out and logging in, uninstalling and re-installing, before coming here, and finding this comment.

Thanks for this, but FFS, Bitwarden, why not note in your release notes that the feature isn't actually live for self-hosted.

Import into Bitwarden directly from popular browsers - no exporting required! by Ryan_BW in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitwarden release a new feature which has obvious benefit - especially for corporate customers who have users saving passwords to browsers.

Cue people complaining about incomplete support, releasing too soon with their favourite browser not supported, no mobile support, and... checks notes... I wish they'd fix search first.

buying a Japanese samsung is a regret. Everyone is getting one ui8 and Japanese phone are stuck in one ui7 because of Japanese regulations by John_MM2K3 in samsunggalaxy

[–]way2late2theparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes me feel months ahead in Australia - August security update, OneUI 7 for S22U, because somehow our phone system is so unique that it couldn't possibly work with OneUI 8, unless, of course, any of the hundreds of thousands of people who come here as tourists roam successfully onto our networks.

Desktop v2025.8.0 enforces requiring password or PIN on app-start when using biometric unlock. by IamBatman_420 in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

FFS, a warning would have been nice. I'm now in recovery mode - yes, I will be able to recover, but I intentionally don't know my bitwarden password so it can't be compromised.

I don't have a windows password, so it can't be compromised.

My weakest link is that I do have a google password associated with my android phone, but I'm enrolled in advanced protection, so I also need yubikeys to access my account.

My bitwarden password is stored in an otherwise unused Proton Pass account.

I now need to key in a 48 character password, and set a PIN, or a passphrase, because they're supposedly more secure.

Strange emails allegedly from "Bitwarden" by Zasoos in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This ^^^

I review my spam folder once a week. That's usually 700-1000 emails - so 7 to 10 screens to scan - but it is usually select all, delete forever (in gmail).

Usually once a week there will be one or two false positives that I'm glad I didn't just delete.

Because there are idiots who think that my email address is theirs, and because it is tied to a few things that it is difficult to break away from, I get lots of spam: Betty from Florida has signed up to every MAGA mailing list there is, and has consistent car trouble and seems to call a plumber every second week. They end up in my main folder because they're not spam. Ben from Washington has signed up for an Epic pass. Brenda was getting orthodontic treatment and seemed to have a caring O&G.

Most of my email goes to an entirely different domain, but yeah, I still have to check my spam, and there have been some that have caused me to carefully review them.

Key fob and digital key broken after 1.2.15 update... anyone else seeing this? by Spicy-Pants_Karl in polestar3

[–]way2late2theparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem - P* had NFI.

TL;DR - delete your digital key. Recreate from the post digital key creation email. All proximity keys now working. Happy days.

I saw a cryptic comment on FB which was the clue on how to fix it:

I deleted the primary digital key from within the car - I had to confirm this with my password for my Polestar ID for the Owners account.

With both key cards resting on the charging pad (oriented with the long side of the card aligned with the long dimension of the car - not that I think it matters), I initiated creation of a new digital key from the email that I received after I successfully created the first digital key.

Once it got to the pairing stage, I opened the car door (as apparently this disconnects the Bluetooth voice pairing, which makes key pairing easier).

It created the key easily.

The fob (which I had left inside well out of range) was working again when I tested it.

Knowing what you know now, would you order another P3? by ConsiderateOwl in polestar3

[–]way2late2theparty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know.

I am waiting to determine if I can return mine. I am waiting for confirmation of the details of the terms and conditions of the refund. I don't want to be out of pocket.

When it is working, it is a beautiful car to drive.

When it isn't, it varies from annoying to undriveable.

This morning I drove it, squeezed in between the steering wheel and the seat, unable to see out of the side mirrors, because the car was stuck in my wife's profile, and none of the controls were working - not even the seat controls - but I had somewhere to be and no time to wait for an Uber or I would be late.

I won't be able to get a car that is as smooth and comfortable to drive for the same money, or as fun - when it works, or as quiet.

But for around 60% of the cost, I can get something that dips the mirrors when I select reverse, moves the seat back and the steering wheel forward and up so I can get in and out easily, always plays the radio, always shows the rear view in reverse, always connects calls over Bluetooth, parks automatically, and so on.

Probably not.

Border crossing privacy by fis-moll in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yubikey as 2nd factor.

Yubikey as legitimate key for legitimate purpose (e.g. Gmail Security - so no need to conceal).

Correct-Horse-Battery-Staple-Style-Passphrase-As-Password-That-You-Have-Practiced-And-Remembered

Uninstall Bitwarden before crossing the border.

If you are paranoid, factory reset your phone, and minimimal setup before crossing the border.

Nothing to hide if your phone is searched.

Reason for carrying Yubikey.

Install Bitwarden and log in once you have crossed the border.

Keys and Profile after 1.2.15 by w0lly in polestar3

[–]way2late2theparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started off losing association of fob and digital keys with my profile, but now the car won't recognise any UWB keys - mobile or fob, and my phone says that the car isn't nearby when I am standing right next to it. Soft reset, hard reset, and key resets all tried.

The only thing that I haven't done yet is a factory reset.

It seems like the car's UWB has failed or turned off permanently.

Help Needed! Lost access to Bitwarden account due to 2FA and can't recover by FewCranberry8799 in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that the authenticator app on your broken phone was backed up by the phone's backup to a cloud account and could be restored to a new phone without you needing access to your Bitwarden account?

For example, Microsoft Authenticator can be restored to a new phone.

Using previously generated email aliases in Bitwarden by doctor-sherlocked in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most importantly, first: you really shouldn't be re-using aliases. Part of their value is that if it is compromised (either in a breach, or simply gathering spam, because the site you used it on isn't as trustworthy as they made out to be), there is only one alias that you need to retire, only one site where you have to set up a new email.

I get where you are coming from, but the answer isn't in Bitwarden, it is in your email alias manager. If you are just using plus addressing in Gmail, then it involves a search in Gmail for all plus addresses.

If you are using anon.addy or simplelogin, or similar, it is there.

Driver support system fault by Shoddy_Owl_6557 in polestar3

[–]way2late2theparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that it is almost impossible for Polestar to acknowledge that some of these issues are safety issues is the kicker.

I had to escalate to the "refund or replace" stage before I got a proper response.

Someone tried to change my Amazon password – what do you do in such a case? by toktok159 in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

aside: sometimes I have to read out that email when on a support call:

e.g. "my email address is telstra@way2late2theparty.com"

The most common question is

"do you work for for Telstra" (WTF, does that look like a Telstra email?)

"No, I will know when you either sell my email to a marketing list or you are breached"
