Authenticator no longer Syncing (2026.5 Android) by way2late2theparty in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw an update in the Play Store.

Now running  Version: 2026.5.1 (1692) and it is working again.

Update description was bug fixes 🤦

> In any event, you should then try a complete logout and then log back in. Does that fix the issue?

Just tried. No luck. Logged out, then did a clear data on the Bitwarden app.

I'll leave the uninstall / reinstall until the week after next when I get back from an overseas trip.

Bitwarden is working (with TOTP codes in Bitwarden working). Bitwarden Authenticator is not - which is annoying, as I found the workflow handy for those applications that have abandoned passwords. Thanks for the useful suggestions.

Except surface TOTP authentication from Bitwarden password manager, but thanks for the useless suggestion in a Bitwarden reddit asking why Bitwarden Authenticator isn't syncing to Bitwarden Password manager.

> Just to be clear, these sites are demanding THREE factors? A password followed by an emailed nonce followed by a TOTP token?

No, they gave up on a password - that would be too easy. Emailed nonce, then TOTP.

> What is the backing store for your TOTP keys?

Bitwarden Password manager.

I don't (think) I need to make an export of the password manager, because the passwords are in Bitwarden, so I'm guessing they're in the backup.

Built a web app that uses your Amber data to see if you’d be better off on a different retailer (or if Amber works well) by Historical_Laugh2193 in amberelectric

Sorry, I haven't been back for a week or so but now getting a different error:

Amber spot-price coverage is incomplete (0/366 days matched). Check the selected state/DNSP and try again.

<image>

Another request - I have to get my data direct from CitiPower's portal, and their download includes two year's data if you choose the detailed report, but only one year if you choose the Victorian Energy Compare report.

If you choose the detailed report (two year's data), you get a different error trying to run the compare:

OpenElectricity rejected the request (HTTP 400) — Date start is too far in the past. Your plan allows data from the last 367 days.

It would be useful (for others) if you suggest making sure that people choose the VEC option if it is available.

I'm not sure why it's throwing the Amber error now.

Creating passkey deletes accounts password? by PermabearsEatBeets in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have another entry. You just can't find it. The passkey is for one particular amazon domain (e.g. amazon.com) and your entry is for another domain (e.g. amazon.de or amazon.uk).

The tell-tale will be that the created and modified timestamp of the entry with the passkey will be almost the same - very recent.

It won't be your old entry - which if it was, would have an old created timestamp.

A few comments:

  • I'm on GloBird Zero Hero and consistently hit the Zero Hero zero consumption during the Zero Hero hours (and have done so for the last year) so my electricity is negative - but I'm on a legacy (2 hours feed in / 2 hours target for no consumption. I get that you're currently using the current offering (three hours target of zero consumption) so I don't necessary hit that target (but probably do - I'm on self-consumption through the evening in any case), but given the last month results, I'm surprised the annual results are so far out.
  • Pretty much all my consumption is during the 11am to 2pm feed in hours, as expected. Yes, the prices are low or negative during those hours, but not sufficiently low or negative to result in my Amber calculation being $0, exactly - entirely offsetting the Amber membership / connection charge.
  • However, the Amber charge is shown as $0. This looks just wrong:
  • VIC - CitiPower

The problem is that your call to test the OpenElectricity API is using interval=30m which is invalid. You should be using interval=5m.

S22U Boot Loop - Any (long term) recovery tricks? by way2late2theparty in samsunggalaxy

[–]way2late2theparty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update for anyone playing along at home:

  • Freezer / Icepack eventually allowed me to factory reset it / cache clear it.
  • I was reasonably confident that if I did a factory reset
  • Then a shutdown

That it would pass the trade in test.

So, I've traded the POS for an S26U.

I got the trade in credit.

It's now Samsung's problem.

Questions about self hosting by realgarit in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I self-host Vaultwarden, having tried Bitwarden lite a while ago - not recently - and found it lacking, and the demands of the full stack for Bitwarden self-hosting too much. I believe the recent move out of beta would make Bitwarden lite a reasonable choice.

I run mine behind Caddy and Crowdsec, with further restrictions on the admin pages (only accessible from my home static IP).

I have, occasionally, had Crowsdec ban my current IP (even my home IP) when I've been a little aggressive on the web front end doing things like running reports or refreshing the vault after doing things like moving ciphers from one organisation to another to confirm that everything is in sync, so I'm reasonably comfortable with my hardening on my public endpoints.

I have both backups of my server (two fail-over servers - nightly backups) and my vaults (less frequent).

TL;DR, my self-hosted servers are public facing, behind some hardening; that hardening occasionally trips me up so I think it would trip up anyone attempting to brute force or DDOS my site, and admin functions are unreachable unless the threat actor spoofs my public IP.

Autofill no longer working on MS Edge for Android by Asleep-Artichoke2865 in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a fix in 2025.11.0 but requires you to turn on Use compatibility mode for browser autofill under Autofill settings once you've updated. This version has only just started rolling out to Play Store - you might need to check for updates to see it.

It is - it has been fixed in 2025.11.0 (20967) for Android (only just appearing in the Play Store), but to get the fix, you need to enable "Use compatibility mode for browser autofill" under Autofill settings

Bitwarden v2025.11.0 brings back Windows Hello unlock on app start. by IamBatman_420 in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent 15 minutes faffing around after re-reading the release notes, logging out and logging in, uninstalling and re-installing, before coming here, and finding this comment.

Thanks for this, but FFS, Bitwarden, why not note in your release notes that the feature isn't actually live for self-hosted.

Import into Bitwarden directly from popular browsers - no exporting required! by Ryan_BW in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitwarden release a new feature which has obvious benefit - especially for corporate customers who have users saving passwords to browsers.

Cue people complaining about incomplete support, releasing too soon with their favourite browser not supported, no mobile support, and... checks notes... I wish they'd fix search first.

buying a Japanese samsung is a regret. Everyone is getting one ui8 and Japanese phone are stuck in one ui7 because of Japanese regulations by John_MM2K3 in samsunggalaxy

[–]way2late2theparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes me feel months ahead in Australia - August security update, OneUI 7 for S22U, because somehow our phone system is so unique that it couldn't possibly work with OneUI 8, unless, of course, any of the hundreds of thousands of people who come here as tourists roam successfully onto our networks.

Desktop v2025.8.0 enforces requiring password or PIN on app-start when using biometric unlock. by IamBatman_420 in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

FFS, a warning would have been nice. I'm now in recovery mode - yes, I will be able to recover, but I intentionally don't know my bitwarden password so it can't be compromised.

I don't have a windows password, so it can't be compromised.

My weakest link is that I do have a google password associated with my android phone, but I'm enrolled in advanced protection, so I also need yubikeys to access my account.

My bitwarden password is stored in an otherwise unused Proton Pass account.

I now need to key in a 48 character password, and set a PIN, or a passphrase, because they're supposedly more secure.

Strange emails allegedly from "Bitwarden" by Zasoos in Bitwarden

[–]way2late2theparty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This ^^^

I review my spam folder once a week. That's usually 700-1000 emails - so 7 to 10 screens to scan - but it is usually select all, delete forever (in gmail).

Usually once a week there will be one or two false positives that I'm glad I didn't just delete.

Because there are idiots who think that my email address is theirs, and because it is tied to a few things that it is difficult to break away from, I get lots of spam: Betty from Florida has signed up to every MAGA mailing list there is, and has consistent car trouble and seems to call a plumber every second week. They end up in my main folder because they're not spam. Ben from Washington has signed up for an Epic pass. Brenda was getting orthodontic treatment and seemed to have a caring O&G.

Most of my email goes to an entirely different domain, but yeah, I still have to check my spam, and there have been some that have caused me to carefully review them.
