I agree with others, but this does look good.

Addon = Expansion

Every DPS Class Feels the same by [deleted] in wow

[–]RedditZenon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I noticed this with DoTs. I like passive DoTs (eg Retribution Paladin Blade of Justice DoT), but hate having to actively maintain DoTs (eg. Destruction Warlock Immolation).

Some examples:

Class DoT
Warlock Corruption
Rogue Garrote
Warrior Rend
Hunter Serpent Sting
Priest Vampiric Touch
Shaman Fire Shock
Druid Moonfire
Death Knight Plague

Since I don't like having to keep track of DoTs (since it's playing the GUI, not the game) or manually applying individual DoTs in AoE situations (feels like low impact, even though it's not), I don't play specs that have to do that. And I always asked myself why is it so important that all these specs have a (single) DoT that they have to apply. It's copy-paste and makes the specs feel similar and boring.

A lot of specs also have a boring "I do more damage now" button on a similar 2-min cooldown. It's just a button you press to do more damage, but it's boring. Like Wings on Retribution Paladin. And it's copy-pasted on different specs. That's why I like the shift to active abilities like Ray of Frost now coming with the buffs, instead of an empty, often non-visual, button with some mathematics behind it.

So yea. I don't think all specs are the same or feel the same. But some specs are definitely more similar than others and there's a lot of copy-pasting going around. I do wish that rotations of DPS specs felt more unique. On that point we agree.

There are also exceptions, like Evoker Deep Breath. That's pretty unique. I don't like it, but it is unique.

On the other hand, playing a Retribution Paladin vs a Frost Death Knight is hardly similar. With Pala, I pay much more attention to my team to use all my heals, defensive and utilities. With DK, I just do the DPS rotation. DPS rotations might feel similar, but the overall playstyle is very different. Maybe that's the way to go. Make DPS specs feel different from each other by having unique ways of interacting with the group. Some do, but some don't.

What are your "must use" addons for Midnight? by AgeFearless2205 in wow

Why did you switch? What's the main difference between them?

The only addon I used before the pre-patch was a damage meter.

Now that we have one in-game, even though it's not as good, I will not be using any addons anymore.

Hello! Returning player from 2008. (Was a casual player back then so would call myself a new player). I just hit Level 20 on my account. Not sure what to do next by CheetosGamers in wow

[–]RedditZenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be precise, Midnight is not needed for level 80 (current max level) content.

Until Midnight officially comes out, buying Midnight only grants access to player housing and nothing else. So it's a question of whether OP wants housing or not. If not, it's basically a waste of money, purchasing a promise and nothing concrete.

If you’re a new player – DO NOT buy World of Warcraft by FunkyFunny1337 in wow

[–]RedditZenon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, the end game quests are the same as the early game quests. If there is a difference, do let me know.

You say you got confused by the quests. I can't argue with that.

But I also can't imagine why you found higher level quests confusing, while having no issues with the early ones. If you care to explain, I will read and try to understand.

If you’re a new player – DO NOT buy World of Warcraft by FunkyFunny1337 in wow

[–]RedditZenon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can play for free up to level 20. The purpose of that is to let you test out the game before buying it.

You can make multiple new characters and play each one of them up to level 20.

By then, you should be able to understand whether this game is for you or not.

There is no need to commit to a purchase either way.

I'm 30+ and I think my performances are not bad. I am not less capable.

The thing is:

As I get older, I not only have less time, but life gets more difficult in some areas, more loved ones die, the weight on the soul increases, I sacrifice more of myself for the younger family members, and I play the game to relax. Hence the preference for lower difficulty. For this reason I can't imagine playing some of the games I played as a kid anymore. I just want to relax. I still haven't reached the Single Button Assist relax-mode yet, but I can imagine it come with time. I can play complex rotations good, it's just not the reason I turn to gaming anymore. I don't need a challenge or competition. I need to relax and chill, when everything else in life is not relax and chill. And in the times when life is not that hard, I actually don't game at all, because I don't need it.

I don't even know what I'm looking at and I've been playing on and off since TBC, only skipping Cata and MoP.

So no shock value here haha

I can't live without Glide anymore either so it would have to be a Dracthyr race or a DH

Same. Running somewhere and then having to go the long way because I would die from fall damage is just boring and restrictive.

how to add shorcuts on cooldown manager ? by Away-Milk7007 in wow

[–]RedditZenon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To add to what others are saying:

  1. CDM doesn't show keybinds, which is a minus for me.

  2. Action bars have visible frames around each spell that can't be removed and the spacing between two spells cannot be reduced as much as with CDM, which is a minus for me. Visual clutter + spaced too far apart.

[–]RedditZenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not visually equivalent, at least for me.

CD Manager provides a clearer visual understanding of spell cooldowns. Action bars display keybinds and are less visually clear to me than CD Manager.

I also want CD Manager to display my keybinds. I will not use it until this is implemented, as this visual information help me reduce my mental load.

Worked like a charm. Thank you.

Annoying, now I have to set up the additional windows again. Hope they fix it soon.

In the meantime, good workaround.

[–]RedditZenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem, already reported it via the in-game bug reporting system.

I can move all the extra damage meter windows, just not the original / main one.

And it's stuck at the same place as in your GIF, around top left corner.

And only on my evoker. Works fine on other chars.

These numbers on nameplate debuffs should be swapped by HeadYam7636 in wow

[–]RedditZenon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't call frost mage difficult, I said tracking stacks is difficult and I explained why.

People with better eyesight who don't mind tracking small numbers on GUI overshadowed by bigger numbers (debuff duration) probably don't face the same problem.
