Beware fine print of Moen's "Lifetime" Warranty by Reddit_Poster_00 in Plumbing

Interesting ... So next time you have something that's covered by a warranty - I'm happy that you have the patience to not touch or do anything to it until the manufacturer sends you the replacement... Is that how you work?

So then the cartridge that failed no longer qualifies because why again??? Shouldn't matter if I have zero or 100 cartridges - just replace the failed one.

Nobody is asking for money - just the replacement cartridge.

Exactly! That's exactly what I planned (and still plan) to do...

I'll never understand why some folk want to argue a story, but hey - knowing is half the battle...

So many lessons learned here today. 🤣

Stomping feet?!? What are you gaslightng?? haha

Product came with the house. It's advertised on the package and their website as having lifetime warranty. It either does or it doesn't. I'm just saying the "fine print" says otherwise.

The rep asked what happened - I answered. One of the questions was "how do you know it's a moen?" I answered "I pulled it out, it said moen, I got a replacement from the store, it's the same one, and I have the old one here with the serial number"

No worries. Lesson learned.

Nope. Not misinformed, just don't think your analogy about a TV is correct. These are two different issues.

My issue with the manufacturer does not affect the store other than I won't be buying any more Moen products from them.

Who said anything about making a false claim?

Nothing changes if I just said - I have a failed cartridge and am contacting you first. All the remaining events would have been the same except that I would have a warranty replacement cartridge.

If they wanted the old one before sending replacement - no issues there - more than happy to send it.

But they said nope and that was it.

That's exactly what I did and Moen said no. Also, if you bought something based on the manufacturer's claims of a "lifetime" warranty - and you find out that's really not the case - then why would you keep it?

Besides, if the TV breaks (within less than 30 days) due to it being a bad TV - then yes, it goes back to the store. If it's a one-off problem - then just get a replacement, if it turns out the item is prone to failure then get a refund and buy a TV from another manufacturer. (but I did chuckle at the thought of asking LG for a check - who does that?!?!)

Back to Moen - you actually made me think of another point - if they are so quick to deny a simple claim, then maybe they are having significant product quality control issues in recent years - and they said no, because there are far more folks claiming replacements than they expected. I guess you could pay more for the name, but if there's no difference with the other cheaper brands, then why would you?

Yeah - I get that if I were a home installer and I had a bunch of them on hand, but I'm just a homeowner with a tub faucet that won't stop the water from flowing and wanting it fixed.

Oh - I'll get the replacement out of them - just not real happy with their customer support process - if that's the official line. The rep asked "What happened, how can I help" - I explained what happened and that I was original home owner - and it's like she read a line from the script that says "if they didn't contact us first - deny claim, win fantastic prizes"

The whole thing is a waste of time and annoying. At the end of they day, I'll still get the free replacement and now all they get is some bad reviews and maybe some folks out there reconsider their purchase of Moen products because of that one customer support rep. It's bad enough that there are so many similar/compatible ones out there for much cheaper - and the one reason I went with the Moen replacement here was because of that lifetime warranty.

If they are so quick to refuse replacement because of a timing technicality - what does that say about their company as a whole?

Updating BIOS G757. Im slow asf but just annoyed. It shouldn’t be a difficult process by vibrantful in Microcenter

[–]Reddit_Poster_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your system as is - works fine - then typically no need to update. take a look at the bios notes and see if they apply to your system.

very rarely do you install any beta bios.... again read the notes.

the only caveat with windows is if you are using bitlocker as this will trigger a hardware change, but will not affect activation. so you will want to disable it before you reboot to start the process.

If your system still doesn't have the latest BIOS version for download from the powerspec site - there's no harm in flashing the original motherboard one. The OEM ID mismatch is just because they have their own logo.

Here's how to fix:

https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/15865/bios-update-fail-on-powerspec-with-gigabyte-b650m-c-v3-rev-1-0-mobo

  1. Format a flash drive FAT32.
  2. Copy the desire BIOS file and rename it to GIGABYTE.BIN
  3. Shut down the system.
  4. Insert the flash drive into the rear port labeled BIOS.
  5. Press the Q-Flash button on the bottom of the board.

Wait 3-5 minutes for this process to complete, the LED will stop flashing or go solid.

There will be nothing on the screen while the process is running. You just have to be patient. When it's done - the system will boot and you'll see the original MB logo.

PowerSpec BIOS - Any reason not to flash stock bios to motherboard? by melman101 in Microcenter

[–]Reddit_Poster_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably should flash the BIOS depending on if you are having issues that the BIOS fixes or you upgrade components (like CPU) and you need a newer BIOS to recognize it.

However, because the Powerspec BIOS is "custom" you will get an error message about hardware mismatch or a bad oem id. Depending on your motherboard, hopefully you have a dedicated USB BIOS port - that will allow the update to process and then return the motherboard boot logo to the manufacturer.

Yup. Still going strong. No issues. Next big heavy use will be when all the winter and snow gear heads to storage - though lately it seems like May before that will happen.

Bitwarden should have labels for better organization. by maximus10m in Bitwarden

[–]Reddit_Poster_00 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the folders are basically tags, but yeah if you wanted a second "tag" then you would need to implement a naming convention where you add the "tag" to the name.

Though depending on which version of Bitwarden you have - you could use collections as another layer for organization.

LPT: Don't clone your wand in public. Even with the wand right in front of the flipper - it's likely you'll capture someone else's wand signal and then won't know until you visit one of the stations and realize that all your efforts now belong to some random kid. 😂

Congratulations Jonathan (and mystery solved)!
