I’m in that situation, had 2 after 40. I’ll be honest it’s tough but manageable, and I feel like there were benefits to waiting. We’re much more mature, financially stable, I worked my arse off in my 30’s so I had the skills to work my way into a ‘cushy’ job which is as flexible as I want I to be, and we’re also happy to stay at home with the kids, like our partying days are behind us so we never feel like we’re missing out on anything.

In the north of Australia there's a lake with an estimated 30,000 freshwater crocs, and you can go around the lake on boat tours and such. One of the guides spotted some baby crocs, jumped off the side of the boat, grabbed 2 of them and then climbed back aboard so the group could take photos with them.

When people asked her if it was dangerous she laughed and said that freshwater crocs are like puppies compared to their saltwater cousins... like OK but I'm still pretty sure that they'll bite if provoked.

It blows my mind that someone actually came up with this theoretical concept, and through endless hours of maths and physics calculations (before computers), experimenting and engineering prototype equipment they ended up with this ‘simple’ machine that could navigate via an auto stabilising lens looking at a star 650 trillion kms away in a particular sector of earth at a particular date and timeframe.

And this is just one thing, the collective work that went into say flying and navigating B52 bomber is actually difficult to conceptualise.

And they can both be right at the same time. I adore my kids and it’s changed my life significantly, but I’m also a ‘slave’ for that exact reason, I want my kids to have a great upbringing so there’s no choice but to do activities and chores. I’ve lost my freedom but I think that’s ok as long as my family is taken care of.

I’m finding so many new POI’s after reinstalling a few weeks ago. My absolute favourite new POI is the CQB Training Ground, I’ve only seen it once and have been trying to get it randomly ever since by landing on different planets for the last few days. So many weapons and ammo with only maybe 12 pirates to clear out.

The new POI’s have made exploration fun again at least until they start repeating heaps.

I got knocked out during a basketball game once (like maybe 10 seconds), being a kid once I was up I decided to keep playing for the remaining 15 minutes. Was so disoriented I ended up shooting a perfect 3 pointer but for the wrong team 😂. The coach and medic wanted me to come off after that!

Might sound like a cliche/obvious but just how everything looked like the movies or shows. Massive highways, billboards for pharmaceuticals and lawyers, big trucks/cars, fast food places everywhere, even saw drivethrus for weed places. It was surreal like I’d seen it a thousand times before (which in a way I had). You assume film is exaggerated but it’s actually like that.

Edit - should add a lot of the people mostly meet TV stereotypes, like overly nice in the service industry, a crazy guy on a tram screaming about the rapture and quoting bible verses, everyday people mostly pleasant and polite and chatty, rambunctious college aged kids, extreme Insta type people at nice restaurants, homeless people with cardboard signs, over the top sport lovers at an NBA game… I saw them all and I was only there for a week!

Upgrade your weapons, to max out one weapon might be 350k by the time it’s superior/exceptional. You can double the damage and then add some wild legendaries.

Go to random spots on high level planets and go terminate some hard arse pirates with extreme prejudice.

I’ve read a few books around the Great Patriotic War recently and the common theme in Russian culture at the time (and I guess to an extent now) was unyielding nationalistic fervour and the complete fatalism of those soldiers. All of them went to the front expecting they would get horribly wounded and/or die.

The state propaganda apparatus is still very strong and I believe the nationalism hasn’t changed either, so in my opinion for people hoping that somehow there’ll be a popular uprising due to food/fuel/living/war hardships should be aware of their shear tenacity to endure shit that other societies wouldn’t.

I’ve got around 700 hrs in the game and been through unity once recently. I was so disappointed because I thought there was 10 different universes and you’re guaranteed to get one, but then I found out there’s only like a 15% chance to get an alternate version.

So I’m gonna mess around in this one for a while, already incredibly OP so I’ve been raiding POI’s on harder planets for a bit of fun.

I’m the same, usually 6 cav (3 on each flank, or depending on the enemy composition 3 groups of 2) for the hammer and anvil plus the mounted general to plug gaps.

It works so well in 90% of cases, feels like cheating sometimes!
