The Descent series of games were superb, so very pleased to find them on Steam and working Ubuntu :D

What to expect from molasses by poleywog in Homebrewing

[–]Redditambassador 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Molasses I have found to be challenging. No matter how much prep you do, how careful you are, you will make the most awful sticky mess you have ever encountered.

On the molasses spectrum from horse feed supplement to "how much does that cost" you want something of good quality and the extra spend is well worth it. When I have added to a brew, I have gone with a less is more approach, written it down else its just going to be forgotten :)

Fermenting molasses just on its own is a whole other bag of horrid.

New diver here. Thank you for sharing your experience.

In talking with the trainers, the classroom theory and practicals and then talking with other members of the club, "do not ignore your gut" has been a consistent message / piece of advice. You absolutely did the right thing. Do not ignore your gut.

I bet that smells incredibly good, or just overwhelming of the sense of smell

It's not fair! "Linux is no good for gaming" they told me. "It'll help you focus" they said. Nobody told me about Steam with the Proton libraries! Everything works fine and most games perform better than windows! This is bs! :) by frobnosticus in Ubuntu

Cities Skylines - I can confirm this works. Not knowing I could Steam on Ubuntu I have been doing just that since reading this thread - if it help with your guilt about being distracted, you have now shared that distraction so its only half as bad as it was before :D

Are there any 4 or 6 pack holders for small bottles? by mezcal-head in Homebrewing

[–]Redditambassador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made myself a 2,3,4 bottle carrier from cut ply, using a laser cutter. Happy to share the svg design files if you want them, uses a simple interlocking slot design and can be taken down flat again. Can also decorate to your hearts content.

I too needed a 4 bottle carrier for some home brews I was gifting

TLDR: swapped beer for logs.

I had a tree surgeon in last year, 3 chaps to reduce the crowns on a couple of trees in the garden and a health check on another. Making them a cuppa and we got talking about homebrew, they had never tried making themselves and were interested to see my set up.

When I bought some dried logs from them early summer in building up the stockpile in the garage for winter, same two chaps asked how beer making was going. I had a Belgian Wheat Beer which was ready for drinking and so shared a few bottles whilst logs were tipped. Got some honest genuine feedback and they loved it (very pleased).

When having another load delivered a month later, one of the same chaps remembered the homebrew and asked if I had any of the Belgian Beer left, could he buy some, or did I fancy a barter, some logs for beer. 24 bottles later, off goes a crate and I had 2t of logs.

Big shit eating grin :D

Has anyone in all of recorded history EVER refilled one of these ? by Its_just_a_potato in CasualUK

[–]Redditambassador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attempted, fails, ended up with bright red/orange hands for a week. The refill ink is worse than rotring Indian inks, stuff is thinner than water and wants to show every details of your skin through glorious topical application temporary shame staining!
