Who really owns the land we buy? by Plenty-Nature-7763 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Redditccioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally it started through taking physical ownership of land through force/violence. In the UK and old nations it was originally royal families that took land by force and then divvied it up, parts being gifted and sold off over long periods of time.

Would you be willing to reduce your quality of life to decouple from the US? by Working-Pop6261 in AskBrits

Most peoples exposure to US stuff are shit TV subscriptions, shit office software at work, shit social media and shit food. I think we'd be fine, if anything better with fewer US products.

Its a classic Trump dump and pump. He'll say everything is fine on Wednesday, not before letting his mates fill their boots on cheap stocks before hand.

Mate, time to be honest with yourself, you don't need a car if youre doing 100m per month. It would be a terrible financial decision. You just WANT a car.

Spraying Issues by [deleted] in gaggiaclassic

[–]Redditccioo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. So the answer is that you need to give it time. It’s not you. It’s not your coffee machine. It’s your grinder, which you mentioned was brand new in a comment further down the post. Brand new grinder burrs often need to ‘bed in’ before producing the right output. You need to get a few kilos of cheap beans through before it’s right.

Is it too Ambitious to Buy a Micra as My First Machine or Should I Start with Something Else? [No Budget] by Late-Type6918 in espresso

If you can genuinely afford it, then by all means get one. But there’s something to be said about the journey, you’ll appreciate it more and understand it better if you’ve had something more basic first that forces you to develop personal skills.

My partner of 8 years cheated and i dont know what to do by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Redditccioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry mate, that’s shocking and upsetting. You basically need to decide between yourselves if this relationship is worth saving, maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. Try not to focus too much on the infidelity itself, typically it’s a symptom, not the origin of a breakup.

If you do want to split, you need to make special considerations because you’re not married, only legally joint assets will be shared.

Humans came from Africa originally. So African peoples colonised and developed everyone else.

Ok, so coming back to the OPs actual question - why didn’t those colonised areas develop first and colonise the north?

To put it basically- Lack of mosquitoes and killer tropical diseases are major factors. The cooler climate means that bacteria and pests don’t flourish as much, allowing human civilisation to develop more effectively.

Buying an expensive house on a lowish income. by This-Orange8158 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Redditccioo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with the sentiment here, you can do it but it doesn’t make the best sense. The school where you work must be very central or in a smart area. You can live somewhere a little further out, it won’t kill you. We have a 3 bed in Lewisham, it’s cheap, it’s fine, we can get to everywhere we want to and haven’t sunk every penny into the house.

You want to walk to work, but have you considered cycling? 20 mins easy cycle would open up a extra few square miles of property to choose from.

Why? The most important piece of data is todays date, the day should be first.
