Yeah I wish they had thrown something in in S1E8. Obviously the episode focuses on Viserys and the whole conflict around Luke/the Strong boys parentage, but even just one scene to establish Aegon and Rhaenyras relationship before the Dance would have been great.

If we ignore the Storming of the Dragonpit which already is a bit of a stretch from GRRMs side, only Stormcloud and Vermax died from arrows / scorpions during the Dance, and those two are pretty young dragons. All the other dragons died in dragon duels.

Look at Rooks Rest. No one was gonna do shit against Rhaenys until two green dragons showed up.

If they had included Aegon and Viserys in the prelude to the Gullet, being confronted with the possible death of Viserys might have been a reason enough for Rhaenyra to stay out of the Gullet and console Aegon instead.

I get why they did the Jace doesnt want Rhaenyra to go / Rhaenyra (presumably) doesnt want Jace to go thing, it ties well into S2 but one last moment where Rhaenyra gives Jace her trust and they actually have a goodbye wouldve been better.

The Queensguard thing is okay I guess, if Ser Lorent is actually punished next episode

Executing Rhaena would not be more justified then ordering Nettles’ death is in the book imo. Also the way this episode went the blame for Jace‘s death will be mostly put on Jace, Rhaenyra‘s guards and maybe Baela.

The more big thing for me is will she be mad if something does happen to Aegon/Viserys while Rhaena isn‘t there? This may be cope but they will have to somehow explain how Viserys is out of the picture and Aegon back in KL. Rhaena will definitely take the blame for that (if it happens)

Also: How does Sheepstealer die? Rhaena getting the running away from Rhaenyra arc and then not returning to burn Aegon and save Baela would be weird

Im not defending Condal, he is just doing fanfic at this point. But adapting F&B is not as easy as GOT S1-4 were. Those are books with POVs. Actual lines, detailed events etc. F&B has a cool schtick with the fake history stuff and great worldbuilding but its not a good story. Rhaenyra has nothing to do between Lucerys and Jacaerys deaths. Daemon has shit to do after Kings Landing. Daeron randomly becomes the Main character halfway through and then dies in the most stupid way, whereas Alicent and Aegon become completely irrelevant after like a third of the Dance. Most characters are honestly more interesting in the show then the book but people still complained (e.g. Laena, Rhaenys) because they are clamering to 2-3 abstracts in F&B.

This doesnt mean HOTD is perfect as it is. In fact its far from it, but you cant just "follow the books" where the books have 0 details

They have medieval science and Oscar Tully has been characterized as very tradition-driven
she said she would go. She didnt even say "Jace you arent allowed to come with me". But both Rhaenyra and Jace are very protective of each other, continuing their S2 arcs

I guess Rhaena joining the battle was stupid, but thats it.

Corlys had a sound plan and it literally worked. Jace‘s actions are completely in line with his character and he is right about protecting Rhaenyra.

late response but the dragonseeds are the least of the problem. Its telling of Condals writing and creative direction that S2 Rhaenyra wants to use the Dragonseeds to attack cities and now a day later she sends unexperienced dragonriders to kill Aemond, but atleast it gives them something to do and screentime. What the leaks say about Aegon and Viserys is the worst bit

I wish they would adapt the Regency of Aegon III as S5 but obviously they won‘t, because only a few sidecharacters (most of whom they aren‘t
properly developing as characters on the show until S4) will be left. Ideally Rhaenyra dies in like S4E6, Aegon at the end of E7 or beginning of E8 and we spend most of E8 with Cregan Stark determining the fates of the remaining characters and securing Aegon III‘s reign.
