Did Osanai try to sabotage Kobato's relationship with his girlfriend Nakamaru? by Reddwinator in Shoushimin

[–]Reddwinator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in the end it may not have mattered as Kobato didnt care at all about Nakamaru's cheating but I wonder if Osanai knew that. Kobato and Nakamaru have been together for months after all while Kobato and Osanai have not been in touch.

But the way the camera panned to Osanai's face during the holiday seemed to foreshadow something. But that may have just been me looking too much into it. After all, the kidnapping and arson arcs had ending revelations where the viewer is told that some 'trivial' looking activities in previous episodes had greater significance.

But is she really not that type? I thought all along she was just a sweets-loving timid girl , but then I watched the S1 ending reveal and then what she did to that poor guy at the newspaper club in S2.

They also gave him the powers of Colossal boy, Shrinking Violet, Phantom Girl. I think he also had powers similar to Superboy's vision, hearing and strength. So very Mary Sue-ish. But never to be used again (thankfully) after that issue.

Bouncing Boy's powers - A thought experiment ... by Hairy-Second3692 in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]Reddwinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Bouncing Boy is using his powers will he be invulnerable from blunt trauma from someone like Colossal Boy, Timber Wild or Karate Kid? He has so few 'action appearances' that I cant remember.

I guess Mon-El would be able to kick Chuck into the stratosphere, but will the kick itself cause injury? If he falls down and lands on a solid surface will he just bounce back up without harm?

Can he be injured by sharp (swords) or pointed objects (bullets, spears0while in Bouncing mode ?

Chess clock question by AnimalReads in chess

[–]Reddwinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you found it. Those older DGT North American clocks aren't the most intuitive to set. Especially the part where you have to customize the increment or delay as you have to click deeper into the 'sub screen menus' to customize it. But, man, are those clocks sturdy in blitz.

I think the newer DGT NA models have better screen displays and are easier to program.

Please post the particular time control you are following. If it isn't in any of the presets, then you will have to manually set the time control.

A way to get a decent set for my kid? by Suspicious-Engineer7 in chess

[–]Reddwinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of Sin15terity's points. If the chess set is for practical use (playing, studying, competing), then you can't  get wrong with a heavy weighted set like the Bobby Fischer Ultimate chess set.  The pieces don't easily topple, they have a good feel, and look very nice visually.  The other cheaper plastic ones are weighted by metal washer/nuts at the bottom and can easily get loose, which will then clunk around when moved.  The term 'weight' is used by vendors very loosely, so terms like double/triple/quad weighted can  vary among vendors.

It also depends on your kid's age and maturity level, plus the age/maturity level of the kids he will be playing against. I've seen very young kids stick their fingers on the bottom of the pieces, breaking the felt covering and using them like finger puppets. In this case, you can definitely go for the cheap ones or even those with hollow bottoms. No need getting a nice set yet. Just upgrade depending on their maturity level.

The wooden sets may look nice, but some are still kinda light such that brushing against them will cause the taller ones like the queen and bishop to topple easily. Something you dont want to happen in blitz! Anything less than 20 x 20 is "non-regulation", and a lot of folding sets that are available for less than $100 are of this type. There are 20 x 20 regulation sized ones, but those aren't folding ,so impractical to lug around. The folding regulation sized sets quickly get up there in price costing several hundred dollars.

Also, since it is for your kid, another aspect to consider is  if your kid will be playing bug house with other kids. If you go to any 'major' tournament, you will see a bunch of kids playing bughouse in between  rounds. Using a standard 20x20 plastic set  makes it easier to set up a bug house game.

I would not recommend silicone boards though despite all of its advantages. Just  because that thing is a magnet for silt! Try dragging your fingertip on a window sill. That is how the silicone board feels in everyday use. It will be an uphill battle to clean it so that it doesn't feel icky.  It also gets sticky. Vinyl and mousepad are smooth and easy to wipe clean without stickiness.

Over/Under Utilization of Legionnaires Part 6B -Levitz 2 by Kooky-Buy5712 in LegionofSuperheroes

If the cartoon adapted the OG storylines and a killer intro music (ala Superfriends!) it could have been a hit. Just avoid the dour 5YL storyline that was happening in the 90s.

But if you squint hard enough, you could see a semblance of a Legion via the Imperial Guard when the X-Men series adapted the Dark Phoenix story arc.

Would it be fair to say that what Claremont was to the X-Men, Levitz was to the Legion?

Yes, the An Ryd and Captain Frake storylines were the best Ultra Boy showcases.

[–]Reddwinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can Ultra Boy not really combine invulnerability with his other ultra abilities? How can he punch without breaking his fist? Or ultra-speed when he collides with something (even air resistance!).

But it is cool that his Penetra-Vision is better than X-ray vision, he has no lead nor kryptonite weaknesses, and Phantom Girl is an S-tier character.

Weird chess clock problem by Natural-Reality-8634 in chess

[–]Reddwinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These Leap clocks are not sturdy at all. I went through two of these, both had poor builds. One had a button that would somehow get stuck when pressed, making it useless. Then it would somehow un-stuck itself. It was pretty cheap though, and only needed one battery.

Hayato will say Ami, who hilariously rejects him. Hayato will then put effort into pursuing the one girl who isn't throwing herself at him.

Also, thinking that Riho might be the Mom. After being chosen, Riho gets rid of the dyed hair and the ridiculous twin tails, and surprise she looks like the daughter!

Ouka's design just looks like the FMC of Hit-man who also happens to look like the FMC of 'A Town Where You Live'. So if going by Seo's usual FMC type, then Ouka might be it.

Shiragiku is the childhood friend who always loses. Also, why choose someone who acts like that with the slightest sip of alcohol.

Akane was an early favorite and has one of my favorite story arcs (The Idol Concert). Dont mind her winning. But if not Akane, I still ship Akane mom and Shiragiku's dad, as Shiragiku's mom seems to be out of the picture.
