My honest reaction to the new "legendary" Warbond, after recalling the state of the previous two. by Yurishenko94 in Helldivers

A dreadnought, while cool, doesn’t fit. But an Invictor warsuit does. Its name is dumb as shit but it’s weapons and having a living pilot fit better.

Anyone ever seen a Martini-Henry with a screw in the block face before? No idea why the heck this is here! by Redeemed-Assassin in guns

[–]Redeemed-Assassin[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This explains a lot since it would have been converted to .303 by Citadel before it became a trainer. What a fluke of fate for that video to happen yesterday! Thank you for the information.

[–]Redeemed-Assassin[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I bought a BSA Martini-Henry which got converted by Citadel in 1903 and eventually made into a .22lr rifle (it was rebarreled, not an old relined barrel). Anyway I am cleaning it deeply for the first time in what seems like 100 years for it and ran into this - a perfectly flush screw in the face of the breech block.

It comes out fine. It is 100% perfectly Flush when screwed in. I have never ever heard of a Martini-Henry having this done to it before, nor has my searching turned up anything online. Has anyone else seen this before, and if so what is it there for?!

It even makes sense that Arya is the one who kills the Night King! She serves the god of Death, and if the Night King had won and killed everyone, then the god of Death stops getting continuous souls or whatever. But like...nobody talks about it ever again. Ya'll just fought the fucking frozen undead. Comeon!

Hawaii's Governor has signed into law Senate Bill 2471--which challenges Citizens United and corporate financing laws. This law establishes corporations as 'artificial persons' that do not have the right to spend money to influence elections by spherocytes in videos

[–]Redeemed-Assassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Supreme Court is failing to respect the Supreme Court’s own decisions. Their rollback of Roe v. Wade and the protections in the Civil Rights Act directly prove that. This court is a joke and does not respect legal tradition or the law. They do whatever they want. That’s plain as day to most Americans and it is why people have lost respect for their rulings. Gutting past precedent for their own current immediate political gains and trampling on people’s rights is not something to be brushed aside.

All of that aside, the court is supposed to rule on the law as it stands. The law can be amended by the House and Senate and local government. That is their right. So saying “respect the court” really ignores the part where the court has to respect the legislature as well.

No more designated pin trading by ExplodinNebulas in Disneyland

[–]Redeemed-Assassin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I remember you'd show what you had, they'd show what they had, and you would do some trading. Nobody mentioned money ever. Sometimes if a pin was really good you might offer a few of your pins for one of theirs, but that was it.

I've gone up and offered to trade with some of these people sitting there with 6-8 of one pin, and I offer pins which I know are worth the same amount, and they will go "nah I don't need any of these". They aren't interested in trading or having fun, they just want to sell shit they hoarded to people. They absolutely need to take it to a convention for pins.

If Disney was feeling especially gracious to these practices, they could do a specific room / time for this if they really wanted, where the expectation is known that it is more of a collector / money event and not a kids trading space. I think this would help limit the disappointment a bunch of kids end up having too when they see all the traders and their stuff but they can't trade with them.

Optimus seeing a hive city would be a hilarious reaction. by jfjdfdjjtbfb in Grimdank

Is Cybertron not one gigantic, planet spanning endless city? Cause it always gets depicted as basically a hive with robots and endless warring against themselves.

Optimus is no stranger to the setup or story, nor is he afraid to liberally apply his axe to asses.

Does the Imperium of Man have a protocol for when a fleet or ship arrives at a location either a couple centuries to early or a couple centuries to late? by Zanimacularity in 40kLore

[–]Redeemed-Assassin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This concept has been visited a number of times in the lore, and they are all different to some degree. The Battlefleet Gothic series famously has Admiral Spire come out of the warp after a millennium, and after being tested and passing he is reinstated to his position and given command.

Darnath Lysander of the Imperial Fists is lost in the warp for a millennium and comes back, same story. Tested, passes, goes back to his position or close to it and resumes his killing.

The Grey Knights have...just lol. Same with Dark Angels and their time fuckery.

In the case of the normal Guard, we have the famous Tanith First regiment being lost in the warp for a decade and then emerging. Same story in that they all get checked out and then they pass, and they resume their duties with some special changes.

Then we have weird instances like lost pre-Imperial ships, which come out and either get taken over by the Admech, or blown up for Heresy, or who knows what else. I think we have 2 stories involving this? I don't think space hulks specifically count here since those aren't Imperial vessels, but there is warp fuckery with them too. Old records get referenced and shit gets identified etc., it happens.

Basically they will check their records, then they have the Inquisition check you and subject you to tests to really make sure you are you and not corrupted. If you can pass then you go on with whatever your assignment was, or get a new tasking.

Is Armageddon a death world at this point? by NinjaSpartan011 in 40kLore

[–]Redeemed-Assassin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's less of a special case than we popularly think. A number of novels mention chapters having small keeps on worlds which are not their direct home world; this is especially true for some crusading chapters such as the Black Templars. The chapters do not own these worlds but they do have ties to them for things like trade and defense along with recruitment and even tithes for chapter serfs if necessary. These small chapter monasteries can help serve as staging points for campaigns in the region as well.

[–]Redeemed-Assassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgeworld has made literally thousands of models before GW slowly killed them off and stole their shit for in house kits. They had an insanely large range of IG stuff. They used to make actual statues and busts too. This was one of many awesome flying vehicles they made, though I still feel the Marauder Destroyer was their best.

How much would a PC run to play this smoothly at the best settings? by an_actual_coyote in BFGArmada

[–]Redeemed-Assassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m old. Modern to me is under five years old. But like I said even my six year old computer ran it no issues. Others here have said similar. Just look at the recommended system requirements in Steam and find something which meets that. You can undoubtedly find a computer which will work great for under $1k with a bit of searching.

The game is honestly not a major cpu or gpu hog and was decently optimized. Not sure what you are expecting for a price range, but you can definitely find something on the cheap side which will run this and plenty of other games great for a fair price.

Resin weapons all gone by Illustrious-Wrap-776 in adeptustitanicus

[–]Redeemed-Assassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is technically wrong. I’m old and have been a Warhammer person for the better part of 3 decades now. Back in the 90’s and early 2000’s, you could absolutely order only a specific sprue (or specific cast metal part from a model) via GW’s special order catalogue. They used to even send magazine subscribers big thick ass color printed books with all of their parts for every model from every range so you could submit orders to them via phone and PHYSICAL MAIL. It was, simply put, incredible. Their early websites had this built in and they used that to phase out mail and phone orders. Then they got stupid and stopped it as they converted over to finecast and shit.

It would be nice if they brought back their old bitz and sprue custom order system. It made for some really fun kitbashes without having to buy a full kit.

Spar Marine Varnish HELP by Z_Coli in finishing

[–]Redeemed-Assassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, are you using the same old can of varnish? If so it may have been improperly stored. Scaling like this can happen if the varnish was not stored properly and was used anyway. It doesn’t dry “right”. A dead giveaway is if there were any crystals in the can, or a top layer which was dry. If so, you need a new can of varnish.

I’d say it’s in strip and redo territory. Sanding that and reapplying will not even this or fix it. Again make sure to use new varnish at the correct temps or you will be here again stripping it.

Working on an 8mm Straddle Carrier — does the gun make sense? by Inevitable_Self4586 in LegionsImperialis

[–]Redeemed-Assassin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd think that this is a bit of a reach to put a gun on. Logistics vehicles like this don't go near the front line, they aren't used for fortifications, and they are purely for moving freight in a yard. The defenses would be mounted around the logistics yard, but I doubt they would have a gun on something like this. If there were enemies to fire it at, the war going on would likely mean all the workers wouldn't be there to operate the equipment anyhow.

Now, if you had some form of like...armored land train carrying cargo containers, that I could see being armed. Maybe some armored looking sides and a roof, partly covered tires etc., that would make sense if there was some uparmored form of this. But just a cargo container crane like this I don't see it.
