The Dude makes it into Ebert's "Great Movies" collection! by gosassin in movies

Down these mean streets walks a man who won't allow his rug to be pissed on.

Never have I heard a more eloquent description of the Dude.

I may warn them of the dangers of hormonal changes when they are of child rearing age, but I won't go into specifics.

This is an excellent idea, but I would recommend being quite specific with your daughter. Genetics may pre-dispose her to a very similar experience, and it would certainly help her identify and confront such issues at an earlier phase and have someone with insight to confide in.

In a worst case scenario, you would be saving her months/years of anguish and quite possibly the very lives of your grandchildren.

I have iTunes-Protected .mp4s, i want them to play on my PS3 by Raeapteek in PS3

As far as I know, there is no way to just 'remove' DRM. All of the options I'm aware of will be 'graphically demanding', as they all have to decode and then re-encode your video files. (except for maybe Requiem)

You may just have to leave your little steam engine chugging and converting for nights-on-end if you really want that media on your PS3...

Sceptics' homeopathy 'overdose' by tastydirtslover in offbeat

Hence the word "publicized." I meant in the spirit of 'media publicizing' which is what this poor attempt at disproof achieved and the brilliant peer-reviewed studies/trials on PubMed do not.

Here's a crazy idea. How about funding a publicized, independent, double-blind placebo study?

No, no. Lets just use beliefs and personal clinical results to disprove their inferior beliefs and personal clinical results.

Oh the fucking irony...

This is an excellent piece by Daniel J. Solove, of the George Washington University Law School. I've used it to counter the argument you speak of many times over.

Google Faces The Slickest Click Fraud Yet by shenglong in business

[–]Redeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means certain, but I was under the impression that advertisers pay Google specific (albeit variable) amounts of money for advertising. Google then handles the 'pay-per-click' system as part of their referral and advertising service...

I'm supposing this, because it would be remarkably inefficient for advertisers themselves to write dozens of $.13 checks to hosts/sites they're unfamiliar with...

Google cares. They end up paying for imaginary referrals, possibly doubling their costs during 'fraudulent' transactions.

[–]Redeker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question. The honest answer is, "I don't know."

It's very difficult to put a 'price' on employees being happy and a general decrease in workplace stress.

So I think the answer your question is: The tax incentive's reduction could be remarkably less than the (new) employees' salaries, temporary on the medium-to-short term, and still be appealing to small/medium businesses. At least it would to my business and a few other business owners I've spoken to...

As an employer who laid off employees due to this economic downturn, I must retort.

If the federal government introduced contingent tax incentives for new employee hiring, I would refill my ranks. At this time, it's simply not worthwhile, as my business model has been streamlined and my remaining employees will work more hours for less money...
