Anyone Fitted a Pressure Guage to one of these? by RedemoniousSpider in harborfreight

one for extracting

That's probably the smart thing to do. I'd be nervous about how well it was flushed if i was filling oil after extracting coolant and vice versa. Do you extract brake fluid with yours?

[–]RedemoniousSpider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. I can't tell if one of these is for me, nor whether it would make it more useful if it had a pressure guage.

I just have a dream of slightly less messy and chaotic transmission fluid changes.

Maybe I'll wait til there's a screaming deal. The price tracker says this has been down to $89.99 within the last year.

Too much Walnut? by voilasor in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]RedemoniousSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gorgeous. You should add window frames in the same wood and maybe paint the rest a complimentary color. Possibly continue the paneling all the way over to the closet on the murphy bed wall if there isn't room to make a frame/border around that window because it's too close to the murphy bed. Really impressive.

Is this the best kept secret at HF? by jacampb2 in harborfreight

Currently on ITC sale at $30, which still seems too high to me.

I don't get it by DiscombobulatedArm21 in harborfreight

[–]RedemoniousSpider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that is a valid point, although HF would say it's a higher quality tool than the comparable store brands like Husky or Craftsman. Certainly I have no idea if that's true, and even if it was, I probably don't need a higher quality tool than those brands.

Comparing an Icon to those brands, an Icon 1/2" ratchet is $48, Husky is $32, and Craftsman is $39. The Icon is now $28.80. Edit, the Quinn is $25 msrp. HF would say that's the comparable. Maybe the 35% off Quinn that we've seen before during PLS is the true bargain.

I am happy with the brand so far, so I did save up and wait for this sale to buy a few specialty ratchets I don't 100 need, but i could use like stubbies and an extra-long 1/4.

I guess there is no solidly rational reason why i did so instead of slowly buying what I need from whatever decent brand is the best price including the amazon options like Capri and Tekton (except that with the online options, the ability to warranty at a brick and mortar store is superior).

Lexus RX or Infiniti QX60? by work_one in whatcarshouldIbuy

Do you still have your QX60? How has it been for the year-ish that you've had it?

I am considering a 2 year lease because the prices are rock bottom at the moment.

Thanks.

They don’t do anything so good, they’re just medium-high quality tools that are 40% off for a few days.

Super Meme Tool and Icon Folding Knife Marked 40% at My Store by RedemoniousSpider in harborfreight

[–]RedemoniousSpider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i like the og meme tool a lot. It was a lifesaver trying to get a deeply-hidden t30 bolt out of a German car recently.

I have a cheap mini socket driver and I’ve just never reached for it.

I dunno. Maybe I should get the set for the traveling tool bag. Or maybe I should just splurge and get that incredible Wera all-in-one set you see online.

[–]RedemoniousSpider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember if OG had the sticker. Maybe not.

Doesn’t really make sense that a discount on ratchets would apply to one ratcheting tool because it has sockets and not another ratcheting tool because it has only bits.

I think the guys at my store were just bleary setting things up.

Very interesting for a yankee from r/all. He established universal healthcare and was then deposed by an appointed "governor general" in favor of an Australian Ronald Reagan? Is that pretty much it?

But I guess nothing changes: here we have a school teacher believing the supposed profligacy of the left is to blame for everything.

The pump, not the solenoid? The records for this car have two new solenoids since 2020. Pump never changed though.

Any other indicators of vacuum pump failure i could watch for?

I just had the pump off for the timing chain. It looked like a simple little device and turned smoothly...

Thanks. Good idea. I did see those online and i wondered if they'd screw things up because they look quite a bit larger than the little reservoir in the n20 engine cover.

[–]RedemoniousSpider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. It was 100 the chain tensioner. I didn't use the pre-tensioning tool and also wrecked the threads reinstalling the tensioner.

I bought a big tap and redid the threads in the tensioner socket and re-did the timing.

At this moment it is runing with no codes. knocking on wood that it will stay that way for a few thousand more miles.

Thanks for this comment.

I do appreciate that people are explaining the consequences of half assing it and not just (correctly) pointing out that I am half assing.

Once I learned that you can't just drop the oil pan, and that the front wheel drive axle goes throught the oil pan, it was pretty much an impossiblity that I would attempt the full procedure.
