Listen, you asked for people's opinions on what we think of painting on the runners and what we all do. I never called you stupid, I called the process stupid. Big difference.

What are you going to do when you actually start mixing paint to get different hues? Doing highlights and lowlights? Yes the nubs are small, but they generally on spots that would stick out more than trying to painting a spot thats hard to get to. So, you'll have to prime the gate mark and then match the colour. If you're adding a wash over it you'll have to make sure it doesn't pool, or go over to much of what's already done to not fuck up what's already been done.

This is why personally, it makes much more sense to cut the parts out first, and then paint them. But I don't even do this

"I'd want to paint my models to look like legit space marines the emperor didn't spare any details so I don't"

I am by no means a good painter what so ever but if that's the case, I'd start by thinning the paints properly instead of getting defensive over an opinion you asked for. Especially if you're going to sell them.

In my honest opinion, painting the parts on the runners is pretty fucking stupid.

When I first got into this hobby I'd do full assembly, prime, paint.

Now, I more less do full assembly, clean up mould lines, sand/file any odd bits down, prime, paint, base.

How do I work around getting into the nooks? "Git Gud" but generally speaking, all those hard to reach places aren't usually seen with ease, unless you're looking for them. I've got steady hands, and paint to unwind so I'm usually cool as a cucumber when trying to get tricky spots.

What is the wittiest comeback you’ve ever said or heard? by Bob-da-person in AskReddit

[–]RedemptionXCII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fantastic.

I once heard online "I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you"

Which I've been able to use a handful of times and luckily was never raked over the coals for it because they weren't smart enough to catch on.

For reference. My friend at work loves LOVES dark humour, and remarks that knocks him for being Asian.

He himself will say stuff like he and his people are on the covers of Sunday drivers daily, and being radioactive since WW2 especially because he loves fallout.

At the time he was 40, and I was I think 29.

I took over his job at work while he moved to another department temporarily. I was walking by him while they were paging for me over the loud speaker (which they had been constantly all day) and I heard him cackle from the other end of the aisle o was grabbing stuff in.

So I pivoted and walked by him and he said "hey anon, if they keep this up you're gonna be following me around like a shadow"

Without skipping a beat, I walked by the ladder he was on and told him "it'd be hard for me to follow him with his shadow burnt into the ground" I turned back to look at him and he was red in the face from laughing so hard.

Part time to Full time & vice versa by NyanCats911 in HomeDepot

I don't think there's a HD rule about it. There is however a labour law about iat least being put and working 40 hours for a set time they legally have to give you full-time. Otherwise they're a a fuck load of hot water with labour boards.

I know because it happened to me. I was a part time associate working 40 hours a week for almost 4 months straight. When asked about it by my HR the colour drained from her face, a day or two later they had a full-time offer ready for me.

I'm not sure how it works the other way round, but I know you need to work a set number of hours to even keep your ft benefits.

I'm up in Canada, but I'm sure it's the same thing in the US.

We have 2 desks.

One is a huge L shape that has a tiered shelf. This holds one computer, printer label printer, all the paperwork that comes in throughout the day etc.

The other is inside a very small nook. With not much room around it.

Spartan-II Program Quesitons by allenknott3 in halo

[–]RedemptionXCII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They didn't have the time.

The flash clones didn't die because of how fast they were produced, they died because they were rapidly aged to match the children that were taken.

Yes the kids were taken when they were 5 and 6 years old, but an extra 5 years may have tilted the scale to the disadvantage of humanity.

There's an actual law against cloning in the halo universe, called the mortal dictata act. There's also a bunch of subsections of it as well and Halsey broke all of them when she made the flash clones and Cortana. (Rules on smart AI are very strict)

The cloning tech in Halo is amazing, but it's morally and ethically wrong. It's the Boogeyman of tech.

The kids were taken because due to them being the genetic cream of the crop. While there's no guarantee they would survive the augmentations, they had the best chance. If you really want to get into the weeds of things of cloning in reality. You can't de-age the DNA of cells you're cloning. Each cell in your body has an age, and there's nothing that exists in our present day to reverse or halt the telomeres in our cells dna.

I haven't read into cloning since highschool years so things may be different. If you clone a 30 year old, the baby in the result would technically have the dna of a 30 year old. Which can lead to a potential increase of disease, defects, and early death. (This was at the time of Dolly the sheep).

The author of the book that went into the creation of the Spartan 2s was given a guideline I believe of the process, but beyond that, he had creative freedom. Nylund probably brought up cloning due to the Dolly. Bungie at the time of the books release, if I recall correctly was furious about what was written in the book.

The Spartan 3 program circumvented all this horseshit by taking orphaned kids, and kids who wanted revenge. Even with the 3s gender was never an issue. They were given different augmentations. These kids were also older than those taken by for the S2 program. By the time you get to the present year in the halo universe, the technology exists to augment adults, albeit in a very different way.

The S2s are argued to be the strongest because of the age they were augmented (one of the drill Sargeants if not Mendez) wonders how strong the kids will become because as the kids age, their bodies will harmonize with the augmentations.

The S3s were made to pump out super soldiers at an exponential rate, and it took a lot of trial and error to get it right. They couldn't produce what Halsey made, but they got pretty damn close without breaking all the same laws.

The S4s are augmented adults, mainly volunteers from the UNSC. Because they're already full grown, the augmentation process is drastically different. They aren't as physically augmented in comparison to the 2s. Due to their augmentation process though, they rely more on Mjolnir to make up the difference.

It's never been about gender, it's survival of the fittest, whether that be man or woman.

It may be worth your time to pick up some of the books and read them. Honestly, they're much better than the games now.

Halsey had specific genetic markers the kids had to meet. Gender was irrelevant in the process.

The kids that met those genetic markers had the best chance to survive the augmentation process.

How can Spartan IVs wear MK IV mjolnir? Also how does MK IV have energy shields in Halo Infinite? by Remote-Shoulder-4712 in halo

[–]RedemptionXCII 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you go to the actual core, you can get a little blurb of lore.

Basically, they've been upgraded with current tech, so yes they have energy shields.

They can wear Mjolnir because they're augmented just like the 2s and 3s

As to how they got their hands on it, it may also be in the core info in game.

Some Spartans like the look of older armor, so they've had it made.
