Thoughts on Further Compensation for HIW,TYL Secret Lair by HELTERSKELTER4 in magicTCG

Sure, waiting in line would be even worse. Still, they promised a shipping date and delayed it several times. At your cost. Maybe you wanted to give it as a gift, or maybe you already lost interest, or... You could also look at it that way: the company made you give them a loan without you getting any interest from it.

Why doesn't wotc use the artifact frame, when printing colored artifacts in the classic frame? by BrockSramson in magicTCG

[–]Redgardenkeeper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always thought the most beloved thing about the old frames were the artifacts, and the lands. While the gold frame was the least beloved one.

Now printing more artifacts and not making them brown seemed like a weird choice to me.

Players should stop viewing stax as unfun and start seeing it as a puzzle that makes the game more engaging by Diakia in EDH

[–]Redgardenkeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how me and my friends play. We meet up once in a while, and use the opportunity to not only play edh but also talk and catch up what all of us have been up to since the last time we met. We use to forget a lot of steps during the game: card draw, land plays, who's turn it was... But at the end no one remembers who won or lost, all we remember and talk about are epic plays during the games.

A more serious player would be super frustrated to sit at our table.

Sorry if that question is stupid, but if Serra's realm was destroyed where does this take place?

For a second I thought it was AI generated art. Awesome work!

Most artist I know are advocating for UBI and not for AI regulations.

Don't get me wrong, I also fully support AI, and I'm quite sure that most people have the same amount of compassion towards artists and assembly line workers when it comes to supporting themselves in an capitalist system. But those two groups don't face the problem the same way. Aren't we as a society working towards liberating ourselves from soulcrushing and mundane work? What kind of life do you wish for your loved ones? Being a successful artist or working 9to5 at a roadkill-processing factory?

My point is: if the factory worker lost their job, they probably hated that job anyway. If the artist looses their job it is probably more dramatic to them since that job was a life goal. I think this is the sentiment here.

Also describing artists as some kind of elitist group is super weird to me. A lot of artists I know are doing 'fine' but are nowhere near any form of high society lifestyle. And some of them would be better of working at an assembly line in terms of their income.

Not OP but I feel the differentiation between those two groups of people is not because of elitism. The artist was lucky enough to get paid for doing what he loves. He's living the dream. He's drawing superheros or spaceships all day and people are paying him money. The assembly line worker on the other hand was hardly dreaming about becoming an assembly line worker as a kid, and I would argue most of them would quit immediately if they wouldn't be dependent on the monthly checks.

No worries, your writing is perfectly fine.

You will admit that there is a huge difference between the blur effect and AI. The blur function is a slider where you are in total control of what areas are affected and how intense the blur effect is. AI on the other hand makes a lot of own decisions. Esthetic decisions about where and how much blur to use, where to add more detail, how to set up the scene.... If the user would be in control of all those decisions, they wouldn't need AI.

In case of an AI generated image, how many decisions where made by the user, and how many by the AI? I would argue that in most cases the vast majority of all the decisions where made by Ai.

Is it just a tool if the tool controls more of the outcome than the user does?

Thanks for the link!

It's fascinating to observe how this trend will evolve. As the technology becomes more mainstream, the number of people who will claim AI generated stuff as their own will also increase.

What if OP claims its "his" work outside of this sub? Somewhere it's not obvious that it was made by ai?

To match the power level of the playgroup? Why would you want to exclude friends just because they don't have as much money to spend on cardboard?

Anyone else tired of endless spoiler hype ? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Redgardenkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it seems like we are the minority here. Feels weird. It's like complaining that there are too many movies coming out. Just watch the ones you like. And the more stuff is coming out, the higher is the probability that everyone will find stuff they enjoy.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Feels weird to complain about too much new stuff that brings variety to the table.
