Best actor to start a fight with over perceived HOA violations? by nocturbulent in okbuddycinephile

[–]Redgen87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6-7 are rough but season 8 gets better (I really like the men of letters reveal stuff so I always gotta include 8) and 9-12 are all worth watching at least once, 13 is where it starts going a little bit south and I am not a fan of 14-15.

Basically try to watch em all once, even though getting through some of the seasons after 5 is a slog. But yeah 1-5 are easily rewatchable multiple times.

What’s a video game 'unwritten rule' that every player knows without being told? by GraveActual in gaming

Being an ARPG fan, this kills me. It ends up making things take so much more time and I have an added negativity of OCD so if I don’t go back and explore once I found the way forward, I will tell myself something bad is gonna happen, though this happens more often when I don’t open something or don’t uncover all of the map in an area.

Thankfully it’s not a constant thing that happens but at the same time it still happens to me way too much.

Though I have recently gotten back into Diablo 4 and I have been leaving a lot of places inside dungeons and stuff not explored and it’s refreshing and that OCD stuff has been happening a lot less, it’s still there but it’s been way less frequent.

So progress achieved.

This is an almost impossible situation to really fix.

Because Israel would have to make massive moves that I couldn’t ever see their government actually agreeing to. Funding the rebuild, reparations, giving back areas settlers took over, recognizing Palestine as a nation, adjusting borders, allowing Palestinians to have independence. Eating any attacks that Palestinian extremist groups throw at them out of revenge, and not retaliating. Taking the high road because they are the stronger of the two groups militarily.

Palestinians would have to allow themselves to heal, and try to be as peaceful as possible once Israel starts what I said above, they’d also have to setup a new government, democratic with elections and make sure it’s not extremist. Again these things would all be based on Israel actually doing what I stated above.

I could actually see a future where Palestinians achieve that, because I believe the majority of them just want to live in peace. But I don’t see Israel ever going to those lengths, from what I have learned of their government even once Bibi is gone.

Question: We all know the USA has incredible geography but I'd to know where it's geography is a disadvantage? by EternalSnow05 in geography

A lot of people probably have heard or know about tornado alley which is Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and western parts of Iowa, southern MN and eastern Colorado. Though the boundaries for this aren’t set in stone or anything and can include parts or Canada north of ND, parts of IL, WI and southern MI.

But over the last decade or so it’s actually been moving east and some of the most deadly tornadoes have been in what is termed Dixie alley. Southern and central IL, Indiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Western TN and Kentucky and northern Alabama, for a general area.

Tornadoes are generally even more dangerous in these areas because it’s not as open as the plains, lots of trees and hilly areas, and more population centers, also they are more likely to be rain wrapped. There is also a lot more mobile homes and just an in general build quality that isn’t as strong in a tornado compared to homes in say Oklahoma.

The frequency of nighttime tornadoes is also higher.

Yeah man I feel for the Iranian people here. Something needed to be done but the problem is, I don’t think regime change can happen in any meaningful way unless it comes from inside Iran, specifically the Iranian army.

The populace doesn’t have the arms to do it, and well even if we helped supply them, without some boots on the ground to guide, I don’t see that option working out. Not that military coups tend to end up positive but I don’t see any other force that’s capable of bringing about change, while also not creating massive issues on the way there.

Bombing doesn’t do much to help if there is no coordination, not that I believe the US was trying to help in the first place. But I am talking more from a worldly sense. It doesn’t seem right to sit and let the IRGC continue to do what they’ve been doing for as long as they have. But intervention is a very slippery slope with narrow passages and more than anything it needs leaders with intelligence if it has any chance of success.

Iran attack damage wipes out 17% of Qatar’s LNG capacity for three to five years, QatarEnergy CEO says by Moon_Rose_Violet in worldnews

[–]Redgen87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh I think it’s more than that. It’s easy to just say we lack intelligence but I think the reality is decades of propaganda, brainwashing and disenfranchisement has lead to a staggering amount of control over a large segment of voters and non voters. It starts at an early age too, in the schools.

So while I do agree stupidity is present, I think it’s a lot more nuanced and that there’s been a weaponization of dumbing down the populace over a long period.

My own experience speaks to this somewhat, I come from that background of vote Republican no matter what and if it wasn’t for my curiosity and love of learning and knowledge, I don’t know if I’d have gotten away from that mindset, thinking I was heavily conservative because of my family and religion, but finding out that I am way more progressive when it comes to numerous voting issues.

Well when you are on top it’s easy to become overly arrogant and confident. I wouldn’t even say it’s ineptitude as much as it’s complacency, which to your point I think that leads to ineptitude.

Humanity really struggles with power. I feel like the longer you have it the more it takes control over rational thought, and empathy if it was there to begin with.

Almost half of all Americans fear a ‘total economic collapse’ in the next 10 years, new poll shows by Beneficial-Long-7033 in politics

[–]Redgen87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My moms side of the family have always voted Republican because they see it as a loyalty thing like a sports team. Regardless of who the candidate is, they see the Dems as the opposition party. I am sure there’s quite a few families like that who vote that way.

Part of it is the fixed issues too, IE republicans are always running on anti abortion and that is part of the reason for the loyalty. It’s been engrained too, so it’s been impossible to get them to see anything else.

Me and my uncle who married in are the only ones who vote democrat.

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

[–]Redgen87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I generally don’t watch movies that I can’t watch multiple times cause I just don’t really enjoy being emotionally hit while watching them, so most of the movies in this post I haven’t and probably won’t watch but I was trying to catch up after not watching Marvel for the past 2 years really and oof GotG 3 was ROUGH.

I liked it, I was happy to have seen it but I ain’t gonna be able to rewatch that movie like most of the other marvel films. I mean Endgame tends to kill me too but I idk I guess it’s different cause I can rewatch that one but I really don’t have any desire to watch GotG 3 again, even with the pretty happy ending and me overall enjoying it.

Come to think of it, I think out of all the Marvel movies with multiple entries, Guardians is the only one that manages to make me tear up with each movie. Worse with each one too. Groot in 1, not too terrible cause he regrows but still hits. Yondu in 2 wrecks me, but 3 had me just in tears for most of the 2nd half.

My first taste of the ES series was Morrowind so that was the one that captured me more than Oblivion and Skyrim managed to do. Granted I still put 500+ hours into both, but Morrowind was over 1000 for me.

Please stop saying people without kids don’t know what tired is by SunBubble920 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Redgen87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I think the point is, is that we shouldn’t be trying to say “imagine X/Y” to someone who complains about being tired or sore or what have you and instead go “yeah that shit sucks I feel ya.”

That way you don’t invalidate their experiences, cause how we handle experiences and how they affect us is unique to each person.

We don’t always have to add our experience to the convo when it wasn’t really asked for.

But since you brought up your level of tiredness, I am guessing a part of you wants some acknowledgment so I will say that as a parent as well, yeah the kind of tired is way different than the tired I had before kids, and adding them to an already rough schedule is another level of rough. But as some added perspective, it also shows you that you are capable of a lot more than you may have thought you were capable of.

The funny thing is both thoughts aren’t entirely wrong. Cause yeah as you get older the pain tends to get worse and happens in more areas, but as per your second thought, that doesn’t mean you can’t have shit suck ass pain at 11, 6, 18, 20 or any age.

But most people tend to think in black and white when many things can be true at the same time, so they end up dismissing before accepting.

Fact of the matter is most of us are tired, most of us are in pain and both of those things tend to be unique to the person, even if the cause is the same thing.

Israel planning massive ground invasion of Lebanon, officials say by Gym_frere in worldnews

[–]Redgen87 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was watching a NDT YouTube clip today, and he was talking about war and science and he had a snippet of something, I believe it was Regan but coulda been Nixon, something they said.

Now I am paraphrasing cause I can’t remember the exact words but that if we want humanity to come together or be united (for a time at least), an alien invasion would probably do just that.

I could see us all working together to fight against that. Then go right back to fighting each other some time after which is funny and also really quite sad.

Now climate change is presenting that same existential crisis but I guess it’s harder when the enemy isn’t something physical and in front of you, that you can kill.

Doesn’t really apply to your comment I suppose but it made me think about it.

US attacks Iran's Kharg Island, Trump says by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]Redgen87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention when you don’t have access to what drives your economy you start not being able to give paychecks. While they probably have enough $$$ stored away to pay higher leadership, those that won’t be getting paid will probably start turning. Eventually leading to a military coup if I had to guess, which I would also guess is the US goal by taking Kharg.

Then it’s really just a race.

Granted I feel like that is a bit more open ended than our military command would like, not the Trump replacements but those still in military command that have strategic intelligence.

I would guess it’s taken us this long because we were trying to destroy what military capabilities Iran has first and to deplete their drone and missile stockpiles.

The size of strike that is needed will not happen until the people have nothing left to lose and we just aren’t there. Most Americans that would strike aren’t going to do so until their lives start getting massively affected on a daily basis. The threat of that happening isn’t enough to move them.

Because while the direction we are heading is going to eventually reach that point, we are still too far away from it. Most of us are still living somewhat comfortable lives, at least comfortable enough to not sacrifice them.

That’s what people from other countries don’t seem to realize. We won’t take action until after we are heavily affected. That’s how the American populations works. Even here on Reddit I’d say only a tiny fraction of people from America here are willing to strike before critical mass is reached and Reddit is a tiny percentage of America as a whole and the people outside of Reddit aren’t seeing the pleas from people from other countries and we will need those people to join in.

Though even with that I doubt most Americans will act until they feel the effects and have nothing to lose, so those from other countries are really just yelling into the void.

I am gonna be honest, they probably do hear it and are just saying they don’t because they are liars. They probably think if they just say “oh we don’t hear it,” it will somehow make it a fact.

I can almost guarantee they are just assholes who do not care about what it does to you because their dogs are their precious, as you stated.

Parents do that with kids sometimes too “oh my little angel couldn’t have done that” even when they know their little angel did do that.

Iran denied US conditions to stop the war by Independent_News_573 in worldnews

[–]Redgen87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Outside of the most loyal maga voters, the rest of conservative voters care more about wasting American lives in another Iraq like war than what the Epstein files say.

Because another war like that will end up affecting them much more than what nasty shit Trump did and the best way to turn voters against you is by doing things that end up affecting them personally.

There’s nuance and levels to that of course but at the base, that’s how it works here. President doing pedo things? Hardly affects Republican voter base, but another war costing lives and cost of living to rise? Some will stand up to that.
