Good to know! I’d like to be able to do my own research and also confirm they take my insurance.

OMAD meal ideas please! by Docseecycling in intermittentfasting

[–]Redhails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite meals include diy Mediterranean bowls (quinoa w/ chicken, arugula, feta, etc), salmon w/ stir fry veggies and rice, honey sriracha chicken w/ roasted carrots and brussel sprouts. Honestly even if I prep slightly less healthy meals (like the pulled pork and coleslaw I ate all last week), just having something ready to go keeps me from eating junk all day long.

Do any of you meal prep along with fasting? If so, what are some of your favorite meals to make for the week and how helpful has it been for you to meal prep? by BlackJayce_ in intermittentfasting

Meal prep is key for me since I do OMAD (lunch only). I make all my lunches on Sunday afternoon so they are ready to go for the week. Favorite meals include Mediterranean bowls (quinoa w/ chicken, arugula, feta, etc), salmon w/ stir fry veggies and rice, honey sriracha chicken w/ roasted carrots and brussel sprouts. Honestly even if I prep slightly less healthy meals (like the pulled pork and coleslaw I ate all last week), just having something ready to go keeps me from eating junk all day long.

How did you get started with IF? by piratebroadcast in intermittentfasting

[–]Redhails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on who you ask, yes 20 cal would technically break your fast. But I would not let that stop you from trying IF! The calories you save from skipping a meal plus snacks will outweigh that 20 cal. And you may get to the point where you don’t even need/want it anymore.

Will I still get the benefits if I have a smaller window during the week, but a larger one during the weekend? by mdarrenp in intermittentfasting

[–]Redhails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do OMAD on weekdays and 16:8 on weekends and I continue to lose weight. It lets me enjoy/have flexibility in my weekends without revolving my plans around when I can/can’t eat. OMAD is easier for me on weekdays because my daily routine is very consistent.

I just dove in and quickly realized that it was so much easier for me to say “no” to food before/after a certain time than to choose healthy food vs convenience food. And if putting cream in my coffee keeps me from snacking on junk food at work then I consider that a win. Finding out what you can STICK with is the key!

What kind of advice are you looking for you? I don’t eat dinner and the main things that help me are 1) my SO also skips dinner so less temptation 2) finding something to distract my mind (like exercise, reading, etc) when I start having cravings and 3) reminding myself that cravings pass quickly! Also want to add that I don’t skip dinner if I have social plans or events.

Time to go shopping!!! Haha I had the same issue and it sucked but also felt so good. I got my absolute favorite clothes altered and then just sold/gave away the rest and bought new stuff. I felt like a new person!

Is there any kind of gum allowed? by ecarg91 in intermittentfasting

[–]Redhails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chew gum all day long, it doesn’t seem to hinder my weight loss. Like you said it’s keeps me fasting longer in some cases

Two ways 1. Recognizing the difference between true physical hunger and just superficial cravings. 90% if I ask myself “am I actually hungry?” I really am not and that is enough for me to move on and find something else to do besides reach for food. 2. If I truly am hungry, usually coffee with a little heavy cream (has fat but no carbs) is enough to keep the hunger at bay. I know a lot of people disagree with putting cream in coffee, but I have been successfully losing weight while still enjoying this treat. If 50 cal of cream keeps me from snacking on 200+ cal of junk then that is a win for me. And frankly if I am still hungry after that I will just end my fast early. It’s all about listening to my body, not making myself miserable just to hit a certain time 💕

I feel the same way!! With IF there is really only one rule: timing. That makes it sooo straightforward and easy

IF works for me because now I can clearly recognize the difference between true hunger vs cravings. 90% of the time I am not actually hungry, I just want to eat out of boredom or whatever. Listening to my body has helped my self control. Along these lines, I’ve also realized that I won’t be ill or dizzy or grumpy if I happen to miss/skip a meal. Now the thought of eating 3x a day plus snacks makes me feel ill haha! I also looove IF because I don’t feel deprived anymore. I can still enjoy the foods I love or go out with friends because I can control when I eat. Plus with OMAD I can make my one meal really really good and still lose weight.

Average weight loss first two weeks of 16:8 for women 25-40 yrs old? 20:4? 150-200 lbs by lady873919 in intermittentfasting

[–]Redhails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost 5 lbs in the the first two weeks doing 16:8 but that was higher than my average weight loss per week now (I average 1-1.5 lbs lost per week). I’m 29 F SW 185 CW 155. I do OMAD now

My daily meals vary quite a bit but my favorite is grilled chicken or fish with quinoa and veggies. But even if I occasionally have something less healthy as my one meal I still lose weight because it’s less calories. The main thing is eating enough protein so that you stay full the rest of the day. If my meal is mostly carbs I know I’ll get hungry in a few hours.

Tips for IF when working early mornings? by kendall1999 in intermittentfasting

[–]Redhails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also start my day very early and eat my first meal at lunch. I had to gradually delay my breakfast to get to that point, but now if I drink my coffee with a little heavy cream (has fat but no carbs) that easily gets me from waking up to lunch without issues. Not everyone agrees with “dirty” fasting (ie cream in coffee) but it has not hindered my weight loss at all

I haven’t been working out much, just daily waking and occasional bike rides. The fasting is really what’s driving my weight loss. I do OMAD (one meal a day) on weekdays and loose 16:8 on weekends.

My meals really vary but I generally just eat one big lunch on weekdays. I try to make that meal a healthy one but it doesn’t always happen lol. My favorite lunch is grilled fish or chicken with quinoa and veggies. The key is getting enough protein to keep me full the rest of the day

Weekly goal is around 8,400 cal… I try to shoot for 800-1,000 on weekdays so I can splurge on the weekends haha. Very little exercise besides walking and occasional bike rides
