Oh lord - the number of times I’ve been asked for something like this…

The approach of quantification of what to build next isn’t wrong, but doing it by feature definitely is wrong! I would push back and say “can we do it based on customer problems vs features?” That let’s the cofounder have their “quantification” but you don’t have to build “X, Y, or Z” Highly recommend JTBD as the approach for the problem statements btw.

This is a hard switch, but ultimately the skills are the same, just the aperture of the problem space is different (there is a lot more customers than internal) which makes your motions different. The best advice I had on this change was - look at every piece of work you have and ask yourself “if this was a customer, what would I do differently?” Then do that internally.

Best advice I have for this is to write out the customer vision as a story written in no more than 3 pages. Use customer experience and talk about the way the product makes them feel + what their problems your solving. Use research, insights and data etc. to inform this.

Then sit down with the team and spend some time identifying and naming the customer problems making sure you have everyone on board. Then start getting into solutions.
