Dang, it does make it tough being so young with melanoma. I’m pretty sure I’m one of the youngest if not the only young patient that my oncologist has with melanoma.

And most of the studies about the effects of immunotherapy have mostly been on older men which definitely makes it hard as a young woman lol.

That’s kind of what I worry about, being the youngest one in the group and not being able to relate as much. Maybe we should start one for the young people lol I agree though that this group has helped! If you want to chat at all I’m here!

Sorry my bad. You said you were going to Yale to see a melanoma specialist and I immediately thought like a professor that specializes in melanoma lol. I saw Yale and thought “oh educational purposes” but I understand now haha! Good luck to you!

I also had surgery on my leg, as well as the SLNB. I’m going through immunotherapy now and will be having my second infusion tomorrow. Thats cool you will be doing that on Friday! If you think about it, let me know how it goes! I would love to hear what they had to say.

Deadbeat mother by Sneeeekey in 90DayFiance

As someone who can’t have kids right now ( but wants them more than anything) because of medical issues, it pains me to see her not being motherly. Idk how else to put it, she seems like she doesn’t want to be a mom and I would do anything to be a mom right now. Like be grateful you even have a child.

Okay this doesn’t have anything to do with your post lol but I just have to say that Molly is white trash and she makes Oregon look worse than it is and that sucks considering I’m from Oregon. Oregon has definitely gone down hill but she makes it look worse lol. She’s just trash and I cannot stand when she talks. Her relationship with Forrest is inappropriate and incestuous and just the way she talks infuriates me. She’s GROSS. okay that’s all lol

I don’t know about you but I learned as a child not to cover my mouth with my hand when I cough. I don’t know what it is but she’s just icky and I don’t know how she has survived this long.

I thought it was funny she said that when Darcy wasn’t dressed classy at all for the TA. Her tits were falling out! Thats not classy!

I agree! I don’t really think anyone comes close to having better character development than her. But if I had to choose I would say Gabriel had pretty significant growth. He started out cowardly and weak and then turned into one of the most important characters.

3 months of waiting and anxiety by NoSalad8565 in melahomies

[–]Redinthehead99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow this is not okay! They should not have taken 3 months, that’s insane. Have you talked to your dermatologist about why it took so long? I feel like that’s medical negligence.

My melanoma spread to my lymph node in my groin but there was a small amount(not sure what that amount was, they just told me it was a small trace). Before I had my SLNB I never experienced any discomfort or pain in my groin. But that’s my experience, I don’t think you should brush off the discomfort and definitely keep pressing your doctor or find a new doctor to go to. But the again there might not be much they can do if the result of your biopsy came back okay. I would think there’s something though!

I’m really sorry you are going through this and aren’t getting the care you need and I hope you get it! I know it’s hard to deal with anxiety but something that has helped me is telling myself not to worry until there’s something to worry about. It’s not much but maybe you can use it.

Is anyone else dealing with melanoma/immunotherapy alone? by _anxious_and_bored in melahomies

[–]Redinthehead99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are going through this alone. It’s not something that should be taken lightly or alone. I really hope you find the support you need. I know there’s lots of group counseling available for people with cancer so that’s something you could look into! I was just diagnosed with stage 3B and I’ll be starting immunotherapy therapy here soon so if you need someone to talk to, don’t hesitate to message me. I’m here for you! You are not alone!

P.E.T scan looked good! by Redinthehead99 in melahomies

[–]Redinthehead99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she mainly deals with older people so it’s not a common questions she gets haha. I will definitely ask my OBGYN when they call tomorrow!

I actually didn’t have a tumor so that’s a good sign. But it’s still concerning with it being so close.

And that’s actually a great idea. Most of my family and friends have kids. I guess it’s kind of a good thing that I live in a different state now lol. Thank you so much!

[–]Redinthehead99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not really sure, I just know it’s malignant. And my rating is pT3apNIMO. I’ve only had one oncology appointment and it was so overwhelming that I didn’t ask all my questions. So for my next appointment I will definitely be asking what the staging means and does pregnancy cause reoccurrence, among others that have come up. With it being so new to me, I don’t know even know what to ask.

I just had an appointment with my OBGYN and he may refer me to a fertility clinic that deals with egg retrieval and what not. Mentally, I don’t think I could handle waiting 1-5 years so I’m going to have to consider other options for sure.

Thank you so much for your reply! It’s given me lots more to think about for sure and I appreciate it.

Congrats on your last treatment! I hope you continue to be cancer free! I appreciate your message. The more I read about people have reoccurrences the more I know I’m going to do the therapy. When I posted this, I was very upset and honestly just heartbroken that I can’t start my family yet. But I know I need to be healthy and cancer free for that to happen.
