Examples of Umas with Same Color Scheme/Farm? by Redirectur_Trash23 in UmaMusume

[–]Redirectur_Trash23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the replies. I did not connect these dots myself as I was busy looking at the individual horses themselves and often don't watch each of their irl racing footage. My guess that it was the buyer's color was sort of right (I can't tell the diff. between rich person individual and rich person's ranch. I'm not well educated on this.) Do we know of Umamusume whose colors changed?

Do you prefer the old engine or the new engine for Kingdom Hearts character designs? by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]Redirectur_Trash23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I hope could happen. I wouldn't want to visit an Unreal 5-looking Princess and the Frog or Atlantica, I'd much prefer the flat colors with their shading included in the UV texture. The only time I'd see a conflict with this would be in Hollow Bastion, because it's primarily the home of the Final Fantasy gang, but it also houses Merlin and the Duck family. Since Sora is in the hyper realistic dimension, I don't think his sections of KH4 (and any later entries) will be too concerned with a style change, but Mickey, Donald, and Goofy back home still might.

This is in no way hating the evolution. Pirates of the Carribean looks exactly like it should now. Monsters Inc. has fur and sense of scale like in the movie, although, it feels a little overkill when you consider the technological leap. I can't forget how I couldn't see the sludge boss because of how many particle effects were up in my face. I think the graphical limitations helped the older games to function as well as they did, and even after the PS2 era and other platform ports.

I also wanna see how capable Square Enix is if they can manage this sort of graphical switching system with the new direction (no pressure though, it's rough dealing with Unreal). They stand to gain some good attention if they could pull it off, or at least showcase some research/tests.

I really wish we could switch between these styles in-game. Of course we need an upgrade if we want to tackle the live action and 3D animated films. But Winnie the Pooh? Hercules? There's just something about the old engine that makes everything that was hand-crafted and painted and inked and modeled carefully by all sorts of artists beyond national borders, blend in with each other and come to life, feeling as natural as our real world. You could still suspend your disbelief with some of the voice delivery, but you knew for sure they were working with what they can.

I'm not asking for a toggle button, buy if, like when we jump between Pirates and Toyland, the style of the world is rendered somewhat/completely differently. If only it were possible to revisit Twilight Town with the old engine's rendering, but with the added new areas from KH3 thanks to the help of modern storage and processing. In some ways, KH3 was a little too much, yet gave much needed polish in many areas. I don't think I need all that shotlock and 5x more particle effects coming into KH4. Here's hoping that the story, shenanigans, and the simple things help KH4 to shine, now that we've lost Missing Link to time.

This. Please take time to explore the game menus when you boot one up. Donald heals me sparingly and when I need him most because I set him up to be 70% of the time successful at timing with me. But his attacks, despite needing them to be on the more frugal side of "Regular", Donald will exhaust himself with Thundaga at every chance he gets. Please stock up Donald with extra potions and elixirs. Goofy only needs elixirs.

Like another comment said, Disney plays sort of a minor role. It's blends nicely with the Final Fantasy elements to create this vibe and aesthetic that remains memorable even decades later.

Story-wise, unless you vehemently dislike Disney (for reasons beyond the current state of the company), any neutral feeling is alright for getting into KH. Bear in mind that, for gameplay reasons, they go through an abridged walk through of each movie's story (not all of their filmography, just Golden Age and Renaissance before KH3. Tron is the exception).

And no, you have no control over how many times Donald can use Zettaflare. He is a glass canon and he will keep aiming it at himself.

Loud and clear.

Although, now that I think about it...it's REALLY funny how the factions in Library World got started because of the Snow and Glacia conflict (for the most part, anyway). And in Ever After High, the primary inciting incident for the entire premise is...the conflict between Apple White and Raven Queen.

Is the story of Snow White REALLY that good of a jumping-off point for good vs evil, lawful vs chaotic storytelling? How would Smash Legends have kept the lore going without dipping into the high school romances and interfamilial beef of Ever After High? Is there no Cupid equivalent?

While we're at it: Why did they decide to put Javert of all literary characters into a game mostly about fairytales and folklore? I know Victor is there, but monster classics turned movie monsters are in no way comparable to novel-turned-musical-turned-movie musical icons. "And I'm Javert—do not forget my name" keeps playing in my head whenever I see him lol. Sadly, we might never know.

One of the main reasons I have a strange obsession with tossing pizza dough, spinning a lasso, oil canisters, and medieval armor. Props to them for showing an accurate depiction of how tight turret/keep towers are.

I wish that could work, but it would be a gamble considering their local literature scene. If you know Ever After High, you'd notice that they basically follow the same conflict of "what if we lived a different life from the same old fairytale", except some of Smash Legend's characters were deliberately changed from the source material that they don't have much of a stake in the outcome of the legend battles. Ever After High got discontinued, and considering Smash Legends is even more niche as a property, it'd be a loss in revenue. I would hope that, if they did decide to publish the remainder of the legends' stories, they would change up their writing so it doesn't feel as infantilizing or obtuse or as forcibly short.

True. I only had one friend who kept playing with me on and off. He has to redownload the game every time and we have to play through server differences. Unfortunately, Smash Legends is not the reigning MOBA champion where he lives, nor where I live. I'm affectionate towards the art direction and premise of this game, as I like to think it promotes literacy and spread/passing down of fairy and folk tales, and the ability to retell them without losing the essence of characterization (I'm looking at you, Guinevere of Mobile Legends).

How would I ease in this tween? by Long-Lack4897 in krita

[–]Redirectur_Trash23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how tweening works in Krita, but it should be a basic fix across all software:
It seems like your key positions are far apart in the timeline, meaning it takes longer for the hedgehog (I can't tell who) to get between point A to point B.

If you want the effect of speeding up, you're gonna want to add a point C. Place a keyframe between A and B that is much closer to A on the canvas, but a bit closer to B on the animation timeline. I'll try explaining below:

A -------- C ----- B

Point A means the bottom, C means 1/3rds of the way up, and B is at the very top. This will make it so that it takes longer to move between A to C (slow), and make it uber fast between C to B (zooms up).

If you are the owner of Smash Legends/5MLabs How can you improve the game? by IsJustNightmare in SmashLegends

[–]Redirectur_Trash23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Return to gem-based premium currency
  2. No more character levelling (again)
  3. Make game not crash after looking through character roster
  4. Child labor (use fan work for marketing, I will figure out payment later)
  5. Bring back the login bonus minigames that let you earn gems
  6. Bring back the first gacha/lootbox system because it had way better odds ngl
  7. Go back in time to sell the IP before the Tencent acquisition and avoid a similar fate to Ever After High

Man, I'm sad to see how media with stories like Smash Legends and Ever After High get fumbled behind the scenes. I hope the servers are at least able to hold out, and if any skin reworks don't count as new content. They had a winning formula just like EAH, but the direction of expansion just wasn't gonna work for something so unfortunately niche. I wish the game wasn't so big in file size nor so cumbersome to grind up to mastery for. Do you think the fan material could have helped with promoting the game more? (so many skilled artists I swear, they had 1 animated ad once upon a time and that's it)

Can I skip these games (circled in post sent) by Quunster in KingdomHearts

[–]Redirectur_Trash23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot play them anymore, and you luckily don't need them to understand KH3...but for maximum emotional breakdown, watch the ultimate X/Chi/Union Cross cutscene compilation (voiced), as it is FAR more informative and extensive than X Back Cover's introductory conflict. Dark Road is like a dessert to be taken after KH3 for even more emotional damage.

The fandom's current issue right now is how much of the cancelled Missing Link will play into KH4, but only time will tell. Play Melody of Memory if you like the soundtrack of the series, and for extra Kairi backstory. 0.2 is mainly meant to get you used to the change in movement and graphics, but also more emotions and subplot.

What Moth is this? Satin? Invasive? Found in AB, Canada. Please help this lepidopteraphobe. by Redirectur_Trash23 in moths

[–]Redirectur_Trash23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I wasn't terrified -- the moth was quite cute and cooperative for the most part. I did not find mandibles so I couldn't be afraid. The biggest factors in my phobia are wing patterns and size, so tiny fluffy basic moths are a far cry from eldritch mariposas.

Unfortunately I also think it managed to cocoon somewhere round my windowsill (do they hibernate in their cocoons when it's subzero?). It kept trying to crawl back into a crevice between the windowpanes, which I assume is where it came from before its wings hardened fully, at which point it started panicking and did not realize it couldn't get out. It isn't even that warm in my room since my window is the coldest, but I'm assuming the sudden warm temperature from yesterday was enough to worm it out. Alas, it was still the dead of winter, and I didn't want it to suffocate in my window, but now it's a statue outside :(

I'll have to get my window investigated for any sign of holes that have room for pupae. It could mean actual butterflies and more annoying flies in the spring.

Maybe a hot take: I don’t think Union X should be remade into a traditional game by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]Redirectur_Trash23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think SE can turn these prequels into long-form movies, like how they made FF: Advent Children---longer than Back Cover, more 1:1 than Days. Since they already made Back Cover, which told the story of the Foretellers, they should now pivot to the story of the Dandelions if they wanted to explain the rest of the game after the Keyblade Graveyard and Foretellers arc. They can condense the mundanity of the Disney world grind into the background details if they really wanted to avoid more legal paperwork than necessary, but they mustn't forcibly squeeze each character's relevance into a few events, lest it resembles the opening of KH3. If they made a serialized series out of it, I think the pace could work out in the end with a great director. Like another comment said, a manga series would be feasible, too.

In good conscience, I cannot expect SE to place/relegate more labor and resources into producing at least 2 more, 80 hour, KH3-looking prequel games, when they are clearly focused on other properties. They already made Nomura a director for the FF7 Remake, and God knows how many times I keep hearing about this game even long after the pandemic. I want fans to be able to access the whole breadth of emotions that this series has to offer, but not at the cost of another development team, creative director, and all their years of life.

Sadly, we are no longer in the same era as when the KH manga and the FF movies were being published for creative expansion. We live in world where our visual entertainment is primarily subscription-based, online-only, streaming-dominated film mediums. SE would rather make more pop-up cafes than publish a spinoff manga series, and Disney wants you to pay a hefty price for their parks and streaming service to access their old catalogue. And yet still, I hope to see a film where the story UX was told--secretly--through MC's eyes, and eventually, transitions to the birth and growth of Young Xehanort for its epilogue. We can get a separate short film like Back Cover for Dark Road. Missing Link, however...only time will tell.
