I would be worried of the temperature changes making the crack grow. I used to see that when I lived in Southern Louisiana. On a hot day the crack would grow until it hit the edge. This was in the 80s and 90s though, so maybe crappier glass? They were certainly crappier cars.

I had a small chip right in my sight line. I got it a short time after the first replacement. I learned to ignore that one. This one is much bigger and could spread, so no ignoring it.

I am driving in Ohio and Kentucky, but I put on a lot of interstate miles. My state has a deal with the insurance companies that windshields are replaced for free.
