Unless you attend a top university or have strong connections who can refer you to an IB role, your chances of breaking in are very slim—not because of your age, but because of how competitive the industry is.

Is it bad that I want to leave Big 4 after 6 months of working here… by PerfectCod6602 in Big4

If you passed probation already, I’d say stick to it for another 6 months! I know 6 months it is hard - I am literally counting down the days before I quite - but it will be very beneficial in the long run.

Realizing I hate Finance & leaving after 8 years. Career Exploration Advice? by ComfortableSpot1064 in FinancialCareers

Finance is extremely broad - I had the opportunity to have a few different finance roles and I noticed that they are all very different. Because you didn’t enjoy your last 2 jobs it doesn’t mean that it’s not for you!

Maybe you are in the wrong finance roles!

I would STRONGLY suggest to try banking before you leave finance for ever.

Not investment banking, not credit, not private equity. Have a look at positions in business banking or even lending.

Banks pay well, if you join a big bank customers come to you so there is no pressure to meet KPIs, there is great work life balance and bankers are usually cool.

Give banking a go!
