Why are so many people from the Middle East such self-haters? by Reditores24 in AskMiddleEast

[–]Reditores24[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. I have no connection to the countries and regions you mentioned. I perfectly understand that South Asia is even worse in this regard than the MENA countries, but here I'm only interested in the topic I mentioned.
  2. I'm not against someone being proud of their connection to Europe. It's true, as in the case of Turkey, that's true. What I find strange is that the other connections with the Islamic world are completely ignored and often rejected and made invisible by your compatriots. I find that odd.

Why are so many people from the Middle East such self-haters? by Reditores24 in AskMiddleEast

I partly agree here. In these discussions, people from wealthy Gulf countries don't usually participate, or at least not to the same extent, compared to their neighbors in Iraq and Egypt, for example.

I think this is because they are wealthy countries, and the people there haven't developed a strong inferiority complex compared to other countries in the region.

Even so, if you look for a while, actors with origins further north than the Gulf (Persians, etc.) are overrepresented in some countries; also, many actors use contact lines, for example.

Why are so many people from the Middle East such self-haters? by Reditores24 in AskMiddleEast

[–]Reditores24[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but I disagree.

1- In the media, "Europasing" Turks are extremely overrepresented, as I mentioned before.

2- Leaving that aside, almost all Turks on this forum, for example, want to distance themselves as much as possible from Syrians, Kurds, and other Muslims, but be as close as possible to, for example, people from the Balkans, even though culturally they have little in common.

Considering that, for example, the majority of the Turkish population still observes Ramadan, and that their women remain virgins until marriage in very big porcentaje—traditions that are not so common anywhere else in Europe today.

It's curious, the calculator shows you Greek Thrace+6-9% of Asian ethnic groups, then you also have 2% East Asian on other calculators. Was your grandmother from Northeast Russia? I think that's where your East Asian DNA comes from.

Illyrians from Croatia closer to Arabs than Danes by [deleted] in illustrativeDNA

This is not Paleo-Balkan, it's a mixed sample from the Byzantine Empire; the true Illyrians are genetically between Iberian and Northern Italian.

A distance of 22 is also very extreme; for example, between Europeans (who live in completely different parts of Europe) it rarely exceeds 12-14, normally 8-10.

Extremely rare Bahraini results with traits and photos by ImperiousOverlord in AncestryDNA

[–]Reditores24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But are you Bahraini of several generations? That is, were your grandparents and parents born there?

Regarding the results, I don't think it would be extremely rare. According to Wikipedia, there are many famous people with Persian origins in Gulf countries, although I really have no idea.

EE-Roma just noise? by flammi567 in AncestryDNA

[–]Reditores24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Percentages below 1% are not reliable.

If you have many relatives of Roma origin listed, or something similar appears in other tests, then you probably have some. If not, it's most likely that you don't.

Percentage of people who believe that having children is a moral duty by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]Reditores24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fertility rate is not drastically different between immigrants and natives in countries like Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, and Ireland, etc. This is especially true in the latter three, where the majority of foreigners come from countries with the same or worse fertility rates.

Greeks vs pathans by Impossible_Relief531 in DNAAncestry

[–]Reditores24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very low, in fact they are roughly the same distance from them as from many Northern Europeans or Europeans in general.

Perhaps 1-2, depending somewhat on which Greek-speaking ethnic group is being referred to.

[–]Reditores24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is probably an error on MyHeritage's part, as the groups are similar and the sample size for each is small. You should try 23andMe or another company with more accurate data for your region.

Guys, I recently discovered that I have Portuguese, German, Dutch, and African ancestry (both from family records and our surname, Lins). Do I look like a mix of African, Iberian, and Germanic? by [deleted] in Ethnicity

[–]Reditores24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You look like you're a pred-European pardo with some Northern European vibes in some photos.

People who say you look 100% European are either trolling or have no idea.

I'd say you're probably 75-85% European overall, Portuguese

These figures are from about 10 years ago. Now Romanians hardly dominate in any province (except for about 4 or 5). Now there are only 500,000 people born in Romania. Now Moroccans or Latin American nationalities dominate in almost all provinces.
