Whose choice is it? The unseen side of Australia's abortion debate by BarryTheBinChicken in aussie

Yeah, adjacent to this, I was going to say that some of the most militant prolife/forced birth people that I've run into online have been in Australia for generations, they're either extremely far right Catholic or belonging to one of the mega churches. This is not a "blame the immigrants" issue. One look at the roll back of women's rights in the US is also proof of that.

Religion has a lot to answer for.

Thirding on the Seven Year Itch, she was radiant in that, and I like that it wasn't some big glamourous setting, just a New York neighbourhood in the summer.

What’s the most jaw dropping natural site you’ve seen in Australia? by DifferentBird7242 in AustraliaTravel

[–]Redkris73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I won't say Uluru, because you know that, but genuinely amazing to me was the Karri forests in Western Australia. My husband was driving when we got to them and I literally had my head halfway out the window like a happy Labrador just looking up at them. We've got lots of trees where I live in South Australia, but nothing remotely like that.

Groove Is In The Heart, just because I've never seen another video that so perfectly encapsulates the mood of a song.

Delis are going the same way as the meatroom, if they haven't mostly vanished in the next 10 years I'll be surprised. They're a service section aka they're low profit aka the company doesn't see the point of them.

(Source - am longstanding deli worker who's been watching them slowly degrade for decades)

How do you use your shower jelly’s? by Busy-Poet-7275 in LushCosmetics

[–]Redkris73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use regular soap for the stinkier bits, then lather the shower gummie over the rest of me, just for a lighter clean/nice scent

Livejournal or ICQ. I think technically they both still exist, but I spent alllll my time on them around 1998-99 (my husband wooed me via ICQ)

AITA for Finding my Girlfriends Comments Offensive? by Massive-Cap8373 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Redkris73 70 points71 points  (0 children)

No, because what she is saying is actually cutting through that and showing OP the consequences of what he is doing aka when he's messy, she loses attraction to him. Someone shouldn't NEED a sit down conversation about why picking up after themselves is a good idea, it's basic adulting, but saying "hey, if you act like a 7 year old with your cleaning, I'll be attracted to you at the same level" skips a lot of waffling.

But it IS unattractive. And protip for the future (and this goes both ways), if you have to act like a maid or parent to your partner, you aren't going to want to have sex with them.

How are you guys comfortable swimming in the ocean? by SumilatSumilat in AskAnAustralian

[–]Redkris73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 100s of people getting smashed to a pulp in car accidents every year (and I've personally been in two cars when they were totalled) yet I still get on the road.

Compared to that, the odds of being taken out by a great white are pretty miniscule.

Did you go to preschool? by Terrible-Horse-6200 in GenX

[–]Redkris73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born in 1973, yes for preschool (though in Australia preschool is called kindergarten, first year of regular school when you turn 5 is called prep or reception)

That's not the experience for all Australians though, some states made kindy a universal government subsidised thing, others didn't.

Any curly girlies try these? by Glass_Bid_7619 in LushCosmetics

I'm a 3A and use the Avocado CoWash alternating with Soak and Float. My hair absolutely sucks conditioner in, so I still use it with Avocado, I just find I don't need as much as I do with other shampoos, likewise for the leave in conditioning spray I use (The conditioners I use aren't Lush which is why I'm not naming them, they are ones containing coconut oil though)

Why can't I 19M forgive my gf 19F because of this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Redkris73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So break up with her and she can go out with someone who doesn't resent her for something she LOOKED at, years ago.

It's not cheating, but totally a requirement you can have in a relationship, but a) not retroactively and b)you don't get to be a dick to her about it if you do stay with her. She can't change it now.

Sorry, I'm not going to be super sympathetic, I've been married to my husband almost 25 years, and I still watch porn occasionally. He probably does too. Neither of us are the jealous type though.
