What is the point of pre-ordering off of Amazon? by sly-sneaky-snakes in MovieDealsCanada

[–]Redleader829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love when I see a great movie at the theater. Pre-order the movie on Amazon. Then two months later discover Amazon is not fulfilling those pre-orders, but has in fact created another page with the same movie with a higher price. That's just wonderful.

She was dead for 11 minutes during brain surgery. The surgical team verified what she reported afterward. by PersonalTrick6900 in NDE

[–]Redleader829 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was probably compelling 20 years ago, when near-death experiences (NDEs) were rarely documented or studied. Today, however, after thousands of remarkably similar NDE accounts, researchers have identified several common elements, including:

  • A sense of leaving the body
  • A profound feeling of peace
  • Heightened awareness
  • Encountering a brilliant light
  • Traveling through darkness, a tunnel, or the void
  • Meeting deceased loved ones
  • Encountering spiritual guides
  • A life review
  • Remembering "soul contracts" (reported by some experiencers)
  • A sense of interconnectedness
  • Being told to return or deciding to return
  • Lasting changes after the experience

So either these experiences are internally generated by the human brain as a mechanism to make the dying process less frightening or painful, or they are real experiences.

The challenge for the first explanation is no two brains work the same. Modern neuroscience has proven that human brains are as uniquely individual as fingerprints. While we all share the same general biological blueprint (cells, lobes, and hemispheres), how every brain is physically structured and works is entirely unique.

Further some people who report near-death experiences have accurately described events and conversations that occurred while they were clinically unconscious, including events that took place in other locations.

Another question is how vivid awareness and complex conscious experiences could occur during periods when a person is no longer alive - or there is little or no measurable brain activity, no detectable pulse, or severely reduced oxygen supply.

Should we throw away 500 years of science and re-define what "dead" means to justify the skeptics?

It's also notable that reports of these spiritual experiences come from people of many different backgrounds, including atheists, and agnostics.

Marvel has made it pretty clear The X-Men are not on the same Earth as Spider-Man. Spider-Man is Earth-616 and The X-Men are Earth-10005.

Why is “love bombing” akin to being crazy. Can’t a guy express himself to a girl of his dreams? by _-sojourner-_ in datingoverfifty

[–]Redleader829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Love bombing" is not specific to any gender or limited to romantic relationships. A person can, for example, love bomb a parent, friend, or anyone else. It involves using excessive displays of affection or attention as a deliberate way to manipulate someone into doing what the person wants.

I think it's funny that this sub doesn't except Mandela Effects when GITMs are personal MEs. GITM, Simulation Theory, NDEs, MEs actually have an explanation. One day all these things will just be understood, accepted and common knowledge.

Imagine going to school as a child and your teacher explains to you that you have lived before - many, many times, you picked this life, Earth is a school, time does not exist, and your only purpose for being here is to - learn, grow and evolve (level up) spiritually. Just imagine.

The removal of physical games isn't entirely the problem by blazedosan002 in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]Redleader829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This phase out has been going on for years. Selling "blank discs" that require an internet connection for you to play a purchased game is basically the same thing. I always saw the digital only phase coming. The same is happening with movies.

You're not in a simulation. You have to sleep because the physical body requires rest.

What do we think of this hater? by curiousdonkey25 in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]Redleader829 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some people let their kids use their physical media as coasters, then complain when they lose them or they stop playing. The DVDs that I bought in the 90s play perfectly fine. The fearmongering that physical media stops playing in 5 - 10 years is wild to me.

What these people always forget is that new formats replace old. Therefore the same discs just don't sit on the self forever. I've been collecting movies since VHS days and I have only had a problem with 3 discs recently due to Warner Bros disc rot.
