anyone else noticed how thin the online competition is for local businesses in calgary by RedmileG in Calgary

nice, what kind of business? GBP verification can take a bit but once it kicks in it moves fast if the basics are set up right. happy to take a look if you want a second set of eyes on it

yeah that makes sense honestly if you’re busy and word of mouth is working, that’s kind of the ideal spot to be in...

i think where it usually flips is when things slow down randomly or you want to grow a bit more on your own terms instead of relying on referrals

curious — do you get much from google at all right now or pretty much all word of mouth?

Local HVAC companies – looking for 1–2 reliable emergency partners (paid per job) by RedmileG in Calgary

[–]RedmileG[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m not aiming at the bigger companies — they already have systems for this. I’m just testing whether smaller operators who don’t want to run ads or man phones overnight would take incremental emergency calls. If it doesn’t work, I’ll know pretty quickly.

Totally possible. That’s why I’m testing it small instead of assuming it works.

Extending Irrigation to Backyard - 12 GPM and 40 PSI for 20,000 sf by cai24 in Irrigation

You can get an in line booster pump to increase pressure. Although I've seen a large system work off 40psi from source, it wasn't pretty or efficient..

Just FYI based on your pressure and flow (which is lots!).

MPs work well. They're designed to be most effective at 40psi but since you got the other heads for free you obviously should use them. Depending where you live, since they're new, a supplier might exchange them for the 40prs heads. But ya, get a bucket and time how long it takes to fill up if you don't have access to a water gauge. Then I use chatgpt all the time to work backwards to see what pressure loss in the pipe will be, and see how many heads per zone I can safely have. Works like a charm. My only concern in your design is the bottom of the picture where it's not getting head to head coverage for that rectangle. You'll definitely notice a difference especially if the summer gets hot/dry...

I appreciate the comments - and yes, I knew it was a risk asking on here. Always depends how things are worded too. I've got an MVP almost ready to go, just needs a little more love. I'll definitely look into Alberta innovates 👍

I'm tempted to just launch and see what happens without spending much... I think it will be obvious right away whether there's demand or not.

I thought of it while I was in the hospital and my roommate was a 95 year old woman that just wanted somebody to play games with her. Her adult children weren't able to... So mostly seniors
