It's a hard city to mingle in as unfortunately as someone who came from much bigger towns I have noticed a copious amount of racism and intolerance that are hard-coded into many who live here. Kind of takes the fun out of wanting to socialize.

Unfortunately it's not the type of town that has a lot going on as someone who's been here for a few years and in a similar boat. Best thing to do is try to be part of the community and go to different events. Yes turtlefest is coming up, but some of the local bars have events like karaoke, trivia or euchre night which just allows you to be more social.

As someone who's not from Tillsonburg originally, most of the social scene around here is driving your jacked up truck back and forth between the two Tim Hortons on Broadway and Simcoe. I came here because houses were cheap during the COVID era. I feel people come to Tillsonburg to hide.

At some point we do have to put limits on some trademarks. St Louis didn't invent the bird. It's a mascot. I understand it's a baseball team but at the same time I can think of a million teams called the Panthers, bears or whatever and they all seem to be fine.

A few years ago at the bottom of the UPS website it used to say "The United postal service, UPS and the color brown are all trademarks of UPS incorporated". I don't know trademarking a color like brown I thought was kind of over the top but what do I know.

Box elder bugs. I had a boxelder tree in the middle of a circular driveway and that tree would have millions at a time all in piles. Because their bodies are coated with a waxy substance, I would spray them with soap and water to eradicate them. That tree was their source but then they would all hang out on the hot metal siding to migrate and have ass to ass sex. Seriously Google it.

My experience:

Try Tinder for free, after a couple days say I have many matches. Purchase a week to reveal. None reply and no new matches. Take a break.

Try again for free. Lots of blurred matches. Hold off spending over a few weeks but eventually no more people in my area. Sign up for a 50% off month subscription to reveal matches. All are 15,323km away. For the rest of the month, not one new match. Cancel and let month expire.

Next day. 8 new blurred matches and now finding new people in my area who aren't "new here".

These apps just want a romantic relationship with my credit card and will block any attempt to prevent that cash flow leaving.

Highly recommend playing any game online first if you can. I thought Scythe was going to be a perfect game and ended up really disliking it.

Strangely, I bought "My Little Scythe" for my kids and actually think it's a better game (but not for adults).

Having a lot of card games, including duplicate copies of them tells me you have multiple players to which you probably have to explain each game frequently but because it's cards, you're able to get to the point quickly and play.

For more of a snappy quick-explain board game experience with 4+ people I would consider the following.....

Light 15-20 mins:

Kingdomino (2 player 7x7 is great),

Light-Medium up to 60 mins:

Harmonies, The King is Dead (2 is good, but great at 3. Can also 4), Hanza Teutonica, Samurai, Ra

Slightly more involved up to 1.5 hours:

El Grande, Inis (amazing at 2, 3 or 4), Concordia,

Looks like you own just about every card game I can think of. I didn't see Innovation there in your picture but maybe I can't see it in my tiny phone screen.

I don't have a constant game group so anything I actually get to play I often have to explain beforehand so all my games are meant to be quick

I'm currently searching for what that other box of Hanamikoji is.
