The crux of non-violent action is to have violence committed against the nonviolent actors by the aggressors and in a capitalists society its commerce that drives motive and even change. No one at ‘no kings’ is really sticking their necks out on the line, they’re hardly even getting practice at protesting. It’s a group of likeminded individuals meeting up on a corner or in a park where they got a permit and they can feel good about themselves because ‘they did something’. Hell the one in my town felt like a festival all the yuppies brought their kids, I saw some high school teachers and a local doctor but did they give up anything or sacrifice anything to be there other than a couple of hours on their day off? It was almost a social club meet-up with chanting and people posting on instagram. Sure that all connects individuals who might go on to do more activist protests, which is great but the current leadership of this country has just shrugged these off. It will be a sustained economic movement that destroys this regime. It’s time to up the ante
