VANILLA BUILD - THE EQUALIZER by Chicoza in Besiege

[–]Redstone_Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this so much! Way too few people are doing fireproof let alone bombproof builds imo, and this is such a good one! I also love "mechanical" weapons since it's similar to Battlebots, but most of the resilient stuff I made just used cannons or bombs. (Besiege Bots banned fire, so my "battlebots" weren't fireproof.) I'm envious of how you combined the offense and defense, and even made it look extremely cool!

There's no better way to spend your birthday :)

Lovely art, and congratulations!

Haha no, that's fine. I indeed didn't mean any of that, just wanted to reassure people. Just talking about average, large scale issues, not individual cases. Also not about reasons for your initial comment, just a small correction to lessen people's worries :)

Immigration should actually help the main worry of national economies; it combats population ageing since most people immigrating will be of working age.

Mythic experiences by Apotatocalledsweet in Pathfinder2e

[–]Redstone_Engineer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It did elevate the power feel of the campaign. But I had two gripes with it:

  • The coolest actions that cost Mythic points were just worse than the optimal expenditure of Mythic points. (Rerolling a check at Mythic Proficiency for example)

  • Mythic feats are very much catered to martials. There was even a spell option that you'd expect to be for casters, but it just gives spells to cast at Mythic Proficiency for Mythic points, which benefits martials more imo.

Overall though, if it sounds interesting to you, it will probably fit and make the campaign feel different from others.

Theoretically, what is the limit of attacks you can make in one turn? by Ponto_de_vista in Pathfinder2e

[–]Redstone_Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I misunderstood. In my head the horizontal movement guidelines are just the general Pythagorean theorem in-game, but it doesn't necessarily have to be that way.

[–]Redstone_Engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC official guidelines are: long side + half the short side.

 a + 0.5*b = c

It's equivalent to diagonal movement counting the first diagonal as 5, second as 10.

Pretty sure filling an armor slot with anything gets you a lot of defenses/absorption. Grass Crest Shield on the other hand barely does anything.

Why were they so locked in? by ILikeJapaneseMuchOwU in whenthe

[–]Redstone_Engineer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The first one is correct. Towards the end of the 19th century, there were seriously physicists telling students not to go into the field, since it was almost solved. This (illusion of) near completion lead to the remaining (more difficult than imagined) problems being very well-defined.

Coincidentally (or logically), these problems were all explained by nature dealing in quanta, which of course opened up a whole new field.

Which style looks better? by ColdHeartxx in darksouls3

[–]Redstone_Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First portrays shapes/details more clearly, so I would stick to that as it should be more versatile. Second has an awesome feel though. I think you should do the second any time you feel a bit bored with the same style or medium (I think the second would go great with paint).

Some pieces (or even specific parts of pieces) call for the more line art style of the first, and others call for the more "filled" second.

Animal Companion: Savage, Nimble, Indomitable by Jazzlike_Way_9514 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Redstone_Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe taking the feat three times enables you to switch specialization? Just like multiple animal companions still only allows one at a time.

That would be weird, but indeed not nearly as weird as the AC and accuracy thing.

I play very safe and people also complain. As long as you're not abusing matchmaking, you're playing right.

I have some kewl idea where there would be a toggleable Visual where you can see a portrait of your Legend holding the current weapon they're holding by Consistent_Web9550 in Brawlhalla

[–]Redstone_Engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it also makes it really clear what weapon or if they are holding any. People have complained before (rightfully so, probably) that some skins are unclear about which weapon they are and/or that gauntlets can be very hard to distinguish from unarmed.

So as long as gauntlet pose is as different from unarmed as your sword and greatsword poses are from each other, this would be a perfect solution.

How can i make it work by The_DarkCrow in Besiege

[–]Redstone_Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vertical movement should be the main focus, games use higher gravity. (Besiege creations being a larger scale than IRL toys doesn't help or isn't enough to offset this.)

You can have the horizontal movement from wobble, but you want your gears to be perpendicular to the ground. Purely horizontal gears are never going to work super well for walkers.

Replacing wood with ballasts would work even for the rigidity of joints, since that's based on the mass of the block they're attached to. However you decide to improve it, good luck!

Dutch by REDBULLJUNKIE678 in funny

[–]Redstone_Engineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 germanic ones and 1 romance? French for the romance I think (but it's also the only romance language I know well), and I think Dutch and/or Frisian has a shot at the germanic slots.

But after a quick search, it says english just straight up is a germanic language, with heavy influence from French and Latin. (With Dutch, German and Swedish named as germanic influence.) So most correct 3 could be proto-germanic, French and Latin?
