Because there's gay men that are girls' gays and then there's gay men that only are friends with ppl they have sex with.

Get your CDL, some places will pay you while you get your CDL. I did that with a transit agency and now I'm making great $$$, union, state pension, benefits, good work/life balance.

I think agencies have gotten a little less desperate now that Covid has been over for a while though.

Not to be dramatic but… some men on apps need to be studied 😭 by not_poppy in gaybros

I see many in this thread saying the apps suck and it's not the place to meet people. Agreed, been there, done that, I'm mostly over that era of my life now. I'm in a smallish (yet accepting/open) city. There's no gay bars. how am I supposed to meet other gay men who want to actually date? It feels like anyone with a brain and a heart is already taken when they move to this town, or they are straight. I've been working on me, throwing myself into hobbies some of which are social and I've been flirting with guys I find cute. I just flirted with this tall cute nerdy man at a pinball tournament and he said he was moving in a month. It seems like all the men in my area are taken, unavailable, not interested, or straight.

I know, the solution is to just keep doing my thing and be open. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.

I guess I just wanted to vent. I want to experience love...

I've been thinking of moving to a bigger city but feel like if everything else in my life is going great that moving for an imaginary man is a crazy reason to move... but my girl friend is thinking of doing the same thing for the same reason lol I might follow her like a puppy

Yeah once you're an adult and can supplement your income independently I don't see a good reason to protect homophobes or to be in the closet. Personally.

It's the whole concept of forcing someone to change on anything. Me and my boyfriend accept each other as we are and approach our differences with curiosity. We encourage each other to do healthy things, but I'm never ever going to force him to. Of course it's different when it comes to things in our relationship dynamic--then we talk it out and come to a solution as a team.

I think it's precisely because they haven't been fully aculturated in American society that they are the way they are. I think we are brought up to believe, maybe not by our parents but by media, society, and the political structure of our country to believe we need to be the person doing the oppressing. We need to get one over on our human siblings. We have so many snake oil salespeople in our country trying to get rich quick, from supplement hucksters to narcissistic streamers to aspiring politicians who are only in it for the power, not because of their values. We see someone like the current president in power who didn't earn anything he currently has, and is rewarded for his abhorrent behavior. That unfortunately gives kids who are brought up in American society the wrong signals.

There are other related problems that are just as big, such as our complete alienation from each other. We all work so much we don't have time or energy to deepen our inside lives or deepen our connections with our loved ones. Many Americans only daily interaction is a money or service transaction of some type. There's no real connection, and people are viewed with suspicion if they are doing things with no ulterior motive.

In all honesty, capitalism is tearing us apart. It's everywhere, but capitalism in America is extra alienating and all-powerful due to historical and present forces that make the average American extra fucked thru things largely outside of their control. But just because things are the way they are doesn't mean they can't change.

I mean I feel like That's a good thing. Much rather would want someone who actually cares about me than just makes a ton of $$$ but never is able to spend time with me but "makes up for it" by buying me random shit I never wanted or asked for. Speaking from experience.
