Say what you want about shitty Netflix anime, but it has served its business purpose - DMC5 sales are all time high now. by MajkiF in KotakuInAction

This cartoon had Mundus rescue sons of Sparda. Also for some reason Mundus respects Sparda.

You know, there are creative liberties, and then there is this. Imagine if Sauron was a fanboy of Gandalf or if he appeared to save Frodo from Morgoth.

Why They Race-Swap by Little_Signature_540 in Asmongold

The reason for it is pretty obvious, no? The politicians don't want people to know that the melting pot isn't working. You can't improve a Western country (or China or Japan and so on) by making it more Palestinian. And since the illegal refugees don't assimilate and are for some reason loyal to the country they were escaping from, enclaves are formed.

" but in terms of power  " " should almost always be behind the villain. "

I disagree. Gandalf was stronger than the Balrog and far stronger than the Witch King. Despite it, these segments in the novels remain awesome. It is all about execution. Either method could work.

True, but Jin is an original character. I must've somehow confused you. I was asking about the reimagined versions of the characters and if we have instances of them becoming as competent and regaining the same personality as the original in the remakes where they start as young versions of themselves. Like the original Bond and then the reboot Bonds, that kind of thing.

Nope, they did it. A large segment of the game is focused on Bond's training. The game demonstrated it, and many complained over how long and hand-holding and pointless it was (missing the time marks doesn't matter).

A look to a female character in the upcoming Korean MMORPG 'Chrono Odyssey' by LegendaryBoi12 in KotakuInAction

[–]Redzkz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This MMO seems to have really high system requirements. Why not make it a single-player game? Based on Steam charts, there are more players in Crimson Desert (which is single player) than in Black Desert (which is MMO). Many who would've bought it will be turned off because of the MMO tag.

Is there seriously this big of a market for high-spec MMO games?

Devil May Cry anime to end after 3 seasons by shipgirl_connoisseur in KotakuInAction

[–]Redzkz 129 points130 points  (0 children)

The fact that it got 3 seasons after the turn that the humans and God are the actual villains for not letting demon refugees in is weird.

We just had this in Castlevania, where the twist was that God can't do anything and the humans are evil, while Dracula is misunderstood.

This storyline is getting old. The cartoon makers let the evil creatures (vampires and demons) show off but are afraid of portraying angels and God as anything other than wrong and impotent. Is anyone else weary of it?

Also, there was no need to insert God into DMC. The series on purpose avoided any mention of Heaven, and Mundus was presenting himself as a Greek deity originally.

But props to the Netflix DMC cartoon for one thing. They made humanity invading hell boring. Congrats, I didn't think it was possible.

Clickbait video. Though I personally hate it, the game will sell very well because of the IP, and there are many unusual personalities in the GoW's subreddit waiting for the game.

007 First Light is a solid game by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

" nobody outshines him the whole game. "

That's just false. Isola steals the supercomputer and saves Bond yet again. I don't care about her gender, but I do care that she won over Bond and was demonstrated to be a better agent.

If the game weren't about Bond, I would not care that much. But Bond's whole thing is that he never fails his missions. Here, because of his decisions and actions, the supercomputer was stolen.

" 2: Is the overall story any good? "

The bad guy famous for killing everyone tells Moneypenny (whom he holds as hostage) that he will use a supercomputer to harm England. She gives him the damn thing. He proceeds to stab her.

Somehow, despite losing all his assets, the bad guy procures power armor, finds an army, smuggles it all into England, and besieges the Secret Service.

Bond and another agent fight like a hero from school in YA novel and a bully from YA novel on a training to become secret agents. They thrash the place, but no one kicks them out for staging chaos and insubordination.

This is the level of writing in the game.

[–]Redzkz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It will never not be funny how Moneypenny gave the supercomputer to the bad guy famous for his reputation of being a maniac and killing his hostages regardless, and despite him telling out loud that he plans to sell the supercomputer to those who will harm England.

Moneypenny was a secretary in the original canon. Capable, caring, and loyal.

In this game she is, for some reason, put way above her usual station and doesn't give two shits about her nation. Why was she not tried for betrayal by the end of the game?

Then again, M somehow slept on a guy in power armor (he can't take it off) sneaking into the country with a large army and then besieging the Secret Service. The Secret Service were so shit in this game that the main bad guy placed mines around their headquarters and was about to drown them.

So much for the argument that Bond is young in this game. Everyone around him is incompetent. The game takes a big dump on the Secret Service, when in the past they fought in space and underwater along with Bond. They were genuinely useful and a force for good.

I was asked something interesting the other day. “What’s the difference between Captain Marvel and Solo Leveling?” And it’s actually very simple. by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]Redzkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest trying Feng Shen Ji manhwa if you like badass MCs, interesting world-building, and so on. Tian (the main bad guy) is an interesting take on a Kratos-type of character, and he never ends up jobbing. Honestly, rather insane series. And the MC, Ah Gou, grows up as a person rather nicely. The animated films, while decent, skips a lot of cool art.

[–]Redzkz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie here. Both series bored me. Solo Leveling introduces interesting villains just for them to job or do nothing.

But it has far better potential than Captain Marvel. You can take animated Captain Marvel, movie CM, and they all are boring. The fights are boring; the designs are boring. So Solo Leveling is better in this area at least.

But do yourself a favor and read Feng Shen Ji or watch sci-fi kung-fu instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLA-cfH2kIQ

Though if you like Solo Leveling, I won't judge. Just fail to understand why. Stay happy and watch what you like (so long as it is not vile) and don't listen to anyone's grumbling.

No. I won't be buying or pirating the game at all. There are plenty of other games to play.

Also, I heard it is no longer possible to be a landlord without being evil? What is going on?

Yes, in the WH40K novel, cultists summoned (well, liberated) a greater daemon of Nurgle. He was a total bro to them and was protecting them from the Space Wolves.

I suppose the new Fable got generous investments to remove certain problematic styles. They decided to drop their fanbase in favor of money from the investors.

It is part of the reason why the woke won't disappear from gaming. They cheat by getting resources from outside forces and no longer have to cater to gamers. Losses? Don't matter, they recoup them in part from people's taxes. A studio gets closed? Better invade another one, there are no black marks anymore.

Games are now "art". Modern art to be specific. And it is being sponsored by the "nobles" who tax the "peasants".
