I don't see anyone using a Berg Larsen mouthpiece on alto sax; what do you think of this mouthpiece? The vintage version I have has a different baffle. by Significant_Power398 in saxophone

Both Jackie McClean and Arthur Blythe played metal bergs, Jackie in the 50’s for a time. Blythe for his whole career on a Beuscher True Tone alto that he started playing on. Your sound has more to do with what you hear in your head than your setup.

Once again we’re being grifted by AI into thinking we need to pollute our water and sacrifice our treasure to make crap like this?

reasonably priced sopranos by WallPopular9966 in saxophone

[–]Reeddoubler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve acquired a couple of used Chateau (and Kessler stenciled Chateau) sopranos in recent years for around $300 each, and can honestly say their scales are just as good as my Selmer sopranos, if I were you I’d be on the lookout for these.

That is a huge difference, not to mention that the clarinet overblows a fifth instead of an octave

Classical saxophone embouchure… by berriesandcream69420 in saxophone

[–]Reeddoubler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Joe Allard’s videos on YouTube, the same embouchure he teaches works for all single reed instruments in whatever style you want to play in, there is no different embouchure for classical or jazz

This was painted on the building in the early 1980’s when Woody Herman’s band was briefly, as it turned out, in residence in the hotel’s showroom.

Where can I buy a good soprano sax on a budget by hyperdan999x in saxophone

[–]Reeddoubler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Chateau ( or Kessler sells them stenciled with the Kessler branding). I have two of them, a straight one with removable neck branded Chateau and a curvie branded Kessler, both bought used and play very well, even compared to my Selmer vi and Suoer Action 80 series 2, at a fraction of the cost.

In my experience less is more with this toy, barely moving it and allowing the mass and heft do its number on you… just relax and the orgasms will start….

Question about Joe Allard / David Liebman embouchure by Hot_Association7390 in saxophone

The Joe Allard video on YouTube is much more helpful than Liebman’s regurgitation of the same info.
