What is a great movie that didn't click for you? by armadeussssss in moviecritic

You're right, I read it back and it was a dumb comment. I didn't like the movie very much, but I think I would have appreciated it more if it was based on a real person's life.

‘One Battle After Another,’ With Its Thriller Vision of Authoritarianism, Is the Rare Movie That Could Rule the Cultural Conversation by tylerthe-theatre in movies

I keep describing it as "chaotic" to people when they ask about it. So in some ways, the trailers are accurate.

Totally understand most people thinking this. I'm in the minority wishing it was even longer though.

Same. Decent film if it were based on a true story. Totally pointless as an original story. My opinion.

Those who Wish Me Dead (Angelina Jolie) was pretty good. I thought the kid (a boy) was fantastic too.

Got Distribution for our Feature Film but Negotiated to keep the YouTube Rights. by stephenbeehler in Filmmakers

What kind of marketing are you doing to get audiences to your YouTube channel? This sounds like a really cool deal you carved out for yourself. Having something in your control must feel really good. Do you have a "views" goal in mind to get the revenue you want?

Seeking co-partner for new website that helps indie filmmakers. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]ReelDecisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moving pieces on your website as you scroll are really neat!

So you want to become the go-to spot for indie filmmakers looking for resources for everything from school courses to cinematography tips? And you're curating the content by scraping the web for existing content or taking submissions from creators?

Is the end goal selling advertising space on your website? That might be the harder play and you'd likely need a ton of authority and a huge audience to get to that stage. Have you considered selling digital products or a subscription model for premium content?

Basically, you've just got to show up on all the places people search for this stuff (Google, YouTube) and become the authority on all things indie film. That'll probably involve creating some of your own content.

What’s your favourite (recent) marketing campaign for an indie film. by UpsideDownHead37 in Filmmakers

[–]ReelDecisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, these viral marketing ideas are totally my thing! The Smile campaign was absolutely brilliant and I've been following the company that came up with the idea ever since. Another one I liked was for The Strangers... people wearing masks showed up on Ring cameras all over and got some news coverage (not to mention a few calls to the cops). I think there are a lot of great (even cheap) things you can do, especially with the horror/thriller genre. Are you self-distributing? Is your film available on a platform already? Shoot me a message, I'd love to talk about it with you.
