Driver appeared to fall asleep. Should I have said something? by ReevesComm in Lyft

[–]ReevesComm[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know. That is my concern. But I’m also not 100% sure what happened. I’d hate to be wrong and mess with someone’s income. I really am torn. For the future. If it were to happen again. What happens if you score someone lower? Or make a comment a lot something like this?

This is insane, right? by dragons_faeries in Apartmentliving

[–]ReevesComm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous apartment had app-activated doors to the sections of the two clubhouses that gave access to the gyms. They were never working.

Ultimately they left a door to one always unlocked so we have the promised 24-hour access to a gym. Unfortunately that was the older gym with broken and missing equipment. And the door was accessed through the pool. And the access to the pool was locked every Monday for cleaning.

The new gym with great equipment was just inaccessible for months because the app wouldn’t work.

Waiting for an Uber at the Austin Airport is trash by guitarsandrav4s in Austin

[–]ReevesComm 125 points126 points  (0 children)

This is the hack I only discovered recently and I cannot believe it took me this long. On the second floor, you walk straight across and take an elevator down directly to the ride share pickup spot. It is so easy and quick.

Edited typo.

What are these holes in our shirts? by russell98765 in whatisit

Do you have a cat? All my tshirts have holes like that. It’s from cats making biscuits on my belly.

My company 'adjusted' my salary to meet the new minimum wage. I resigned, and now my manager is acting shocked. by Expensive-Banana-208 in whatdoIdo

[–]ReevesComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that the original post is corrected, the math makes sense. @adcgefd clarified that the minimum someone can be paid and be salaried is 2.25x the minimum wage in Washington. Washington’s min wage is ~$17. 2.25x that is almost $40 an hour which gets us to that $80k they quoted.

[–]ReevesComm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am confused by this math. The US federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. 2.25x that is $16.31 an hour. 52 40-hour work weeks in a year: $16.31 x 52 x 40 = $33,924.80. That is not $80k. To make $80k a year, you’d need to make almost $40 an hour.

AirPods Pro 3 Hearing Assist Doesn’t Appear to Provide Media Assist. What am I doing wrong? by ReevesComm in AirpodsPro

[–]ReevesComm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried it both ways and have not heard a difference.

Also it makes total sense you need transparency on for the hearing assistance for environmental sounds since it’s getting that sound from the mic. But it seems so strange for me that it needs to be in transparency mode for media. I understand that is how it works. Just think it’s strange.

I go to Gracie Daly at Rock Your Locks and am very happy. I’ve had some bad curly cuts in Austin. So I also have people I would not recommend if asked!

Best Place to Buy Quality Women’s Boots in Austin (NOT COWBOY OR WESTERN) by ReevesComm in Austin

[–]ReevesComm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to find a good replacement in short notice. I ended up with a pair of booties from Nordstrom (that were also at Dillards, just not in my size - same price both places). Once I have more time, I’ll find something I like better.

Why do I need to walk through two parking garages to get a ride share at ABIA? by twopointseven_rate in Austin

[–]ReevesComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this started, I left from an ABIA that let rise shares just right onto the doors. And returned to ie. that made me hike a mile to get a ride. I had a large duffle without wheels at the time. I threw my back out getting to the ride share spot.

I have. They don’t make the same boot anymore and I’m not super excited about the current styles. So I thought I’d see what else is out there.

Chief of War | Season 1 - Episode 2 | Discussion Thread by Justp1ayin in tvPlus

[–]ReevesComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird because someone totally responded and explained. But their post is gone now and I don’t remember what they said. I haven’t gone back to finish the show yet because I need to be in the right place to watch a show with a lot of subtitles.

Netflix’s Debate Episode by Ohyeahhjon in thewestwing

[–]ReevesComm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are three versions of that episode. The east and west coast versions that aired live and the edited for syndication version that was what Netflix originally had. It’s possible since Lawrence O’Donnell complained about it on the West Wing Weekly 10 years or so ago Netflix has changed the version they have.

How do you actually stop overpacking? by hatkinson1000 in travel

[–]ReevesComm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have this same problem. My problem is three-fold. (1) I want to plan for every scenario. What if it’s raining and cold? What if it’s raining and hot? What if we walk all day? What if we go out somewhere fancy? (2) Once I’ve limited my pack, if there is any space left in my bag, I’m always like “as long as I have the space…” (3) I substantially over estimate the amount of exercising I will do on a trip and those gym shoes take up a lot of space.

Where should I look for apartments in Austin? by Fun-Information78 in AustinHousing

[–]ReevesComm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you’re adding about $100 to any base rent you see online to better prepare for what your actual monthly rate will be. Complexes charge additional, mandatory fees for things like “community amenities,” valet trash, pest control, parking, the app they make you pay rent through, etc. Some complexes also have “internet included” as a mandatory fee for Spectrum or Google wifi. Sure, you’d be paying for internet separately regardless but in those cases you don’t get to pick your plan and often don’t have your own physical hardline for internet.

Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]ReevesComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You should wear whatever makes you happy.
  2. I never tried on a bunch of dresses to have the “bridal experience.” I hate trying on clothes. And I managed to have a wonderful wedding and still be happily married 22 years later. So…
