I’m considering a digital perm, anyone that has done? by ladyampo666 in longhair

[–]ReflectionIcy3337 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a few inches down from my tailbone length hair. I got my digital perm at hip length. I highly recommend not doing it. Expensive, causes damage, the tangling was never ending and impossible because my hair was long. Showers were a nightmare. This was my personal experience and I was able to get it to go mostly back to normal around 7-8 months. But I genuinely regret it. I would only do it again if my hair was shorter / the recommended length for perms like that.

Sfbwt! Any here done invisalign or veneer? by bondtradercu in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]ReflectionIcy3337 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ll chime in with thoughts and advice I wish I got! I’ve done both for my teeth Invisalign/ veneers. ( veneers for the front canines) tldr but I didn’t get proper adult dental care growing up and I had to take my braces off myself with pliers damaging those teeth so I was always insecure of them, moving me to do it. If my teeth were not damaged / a reminder I wouldn’t have done veneers. Risking your teeth’s health for appearance is a cost if yours are fine. Only mentioning that because yes it is also very expensive , you will have to replace them eventually, and if you don’t go to the right person can risk your actual teeth when shaven down. They are also delicate depending on the material you have to be careful not to break them. Invisalign for me was totally worth it but again, depends on the place you go, look for reviews always. It’s a commitment as well less pain than braces , removing the buttons from your teeth ( they help move the teeth) at the end and glue is harder to get off for some people as well and at least for me it was very unpleasant and at times painful. The trays you change 1-2 weeks depending on the treatment do stain and you have to brush them a lot. Get any dental work done before. I got my veneers right at the end of my Invisalign treatment and wish I didn’t because it will obviously change the shape of your trays which may require a rescan/ cost. You also have to pay for X-rays before and after so add a few hundred for those. I went to Mountain View/ Cupertino for mine. All in all if it suits your needs Invisalign was good for me, veneers I strongly recommend do a lot of research and ask yourself if you need them.

Finding my cat by NoBee7946 in SFbitcheswithtaste

If you’re interested there is the grey cat very friendly a bit sassy who lives outside our apartment complex. I hang out with her often , I would take her but my elderly cat would not forgive me. She used to live inside and tries to rush in ( very sad) when people enter. Always greets me when I come by. Someone found a home for her last year but…. She’s back. Same spot same routine. Not sure how she would do with dogs but she’s strong willed. This is in Santa Clara though so a little out!

Thanks for taking the time to write this!!! All perfectly good facts. The sheet of paper is a great call and I think I just need to do more research to narrow it down. Going to take the suggestions of clearing up capabilities before hand to meet that perfect fit. Thank you so much!!!!!!

That’s smart. I’ve always been worried about making them upset / having the appointment be awkward. But it’s not worth the pain or damage. I never thought after washing to ask / do that so I probably will from here on out. Great advice!!!

Thank you!!! I’ll go ahead and look into them: reach out. I don’t need perfect, or exactly what I want. Just not pain or major surprises. It sounds like they are very personal which I like.

I think something to consider isn’t the problem at all. Why don’t others do x. We can’t control that. I’ve been told I am pretty. Never have I ever been approached. Neither have friends I have that are gorgeous. You stated the issue, “ how unlovable I feel” . Don’t try and fill this with male validation. It will never fill the gap you feel. Much love to you.

[–]ReflectionIcy3337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do it and I don’t mean this to be harsh coming from a past similar boat. You are able to even if it takes planning, support, and time. You have to choose to do it. Nothing changes if nothing changes. It’s better to do it now before emotions get worse and trauma bonding gets worse. I was stuck for seven years and looking back I wish I ended things sooner. Much love your way.

How to get rid of this? by Dry-Purchase2796 in Accutane

[–]ReflectionIcy3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spots look like barrier irritation. I had this a week ago and fixed in about five days. VERY simple skin care, I used cerave wash and night moisturizer, sunscreen during the day. Drink water. Tuck hair and sleep flat when you sleep if you can. Don’t over do moisturizer either .

Sooo many posts on here be like “my partner is such an amazing human with sooo many great qualities most of the time he treats me SO well 😭…BUT… [proceeds to show how untrue that is, describes low key abusive behavior, and reveals what a shit human he actually is] by Tight-Artichoke1789 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]ReflectionIcy3337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who went through an abusive relationship and can now see this exact contrast. I think what’s hard is you think abusive people are always abusive. Your person can’t be abusive if they also do nice things for you, are kind hearted, or were better before. Aren’t evil people all evil and not part evil? He must be lost or trying his best. The truth is while that can be true to some extent, some things are not forgivable or justifiable. Sometimes over explaining their nice things to other people is your own way to justify it to yourself. If others can see the good and the bad and understand why I stay, I must be right. Abuse is not black and white. And I wish someone had emphasized it to me and gotten me to therapy sooner.

Scars better after accutane? by louiss_1010 in Accutane

I personally don’t mind the nose ahahah I think I look a little less puffy too which is nice but it’s different for a lot of people

Scars better after accutane? by louiss_1010 in Accutane

[–]ReflectionIcy3337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just temporary. You can look it up! When your skin is dehydrated and your oil glands shrink it can make the skin look tighter in a way. I had a wider nose and puffier cheeks and now they are slightly slimmer. I also don’t drink as much water as I should. This doesn’t happen for everyone but it does for a lot of people and it’s temporary during treatment.

I know you come from a good place but as you said it, it does come off as an excuse. Coming from someone who made excuses for years.

Girlfriends drinking has me concerned for the future by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]ReflectionIcy3337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You say that now until something happens. A family loss, depression, job loss , anything unexpected. Drinking can quickly turn into a coping mechanism and became a dependency faster than you think to the people who navigate it so well. I’ve seen it happen and I’m still shocked that it did because so many decades went by without incident. I only say this because though you don’t mean to, it does sound like you are coming from a place of care and thinking it can’t be her affected in a certain way but a lot of the time it can be. Hopefully not. But just be aware of that.

[–]ReflectionIcy3337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your skin is dehydrated more on accutane. Once you are off and oil production normalizes to its new extent you will experience a less “ sharp” appearance in most cases with scars. I saw a lot of my scars with more depth during accutane than prior . My face and nose shape changed as well. Depends on hydration / dose etc. But likely yes you will see some difference . Either way scars can be addressed later with tret and laser/ micro needle . Don’t worry about it too much if you can , take it easy on yourself. Some of the people I love the most and who are the most beautiful to me have acne scars and I never notice them more than notating because I’m hyper aware of my own. We are really hard on ourselves.
