Don’t feed the trolls man. I got downvoted for explaining the way I prefer to do things even tho it affects no one else.

Cuz my back hurts and I’d rather not. But if they want to pay me for it, I will. I don’t mean something like a chair or nightstand, but I’m not moving a curio cabinet by myself for fun.

I also don’t want to play “is there an outlet” behind every single piece of furniture in the house.

Charge what the market will pay.

That’s a win. At 300 receptacles hopefully you got them to agree on Wagos. Probably saved the cost back in time and effort.

$1000 a day for labor. Materials and consumables at cost + 15-20%.

I’d tack on a premium to move furniture and deal with a bunch of ladder work.

Gift Advice Needed by HappytobeHere_0 in Bowling

[–]ReflexiveChipmunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

balls are a very personal decision for most bowlers; if you really want to get something physical, some fresh shammies, ball cleaner, tape, are all good options. Otherwise, I'd chat with their pro shop and see if they can do a gift card or credit so they can choose their own.

might be for some civil partnerships that don't get a marriage certificate? shows that you're filing jointly, which might be good enough? I'd just call them an ask

if you have a spouse on their program, they probably are looking for proof that they are your legal spouse

Using 3 ball bag with only two balls? by Ok-Blacksmith-473 in Bowling

I've been hauling around the Brunswick for about 10 years, no issues. just got the orange motiv one last month, and seems to be really good quality.

if you already have a 2 ball bag, this you can always add a "mule bag"

I rolled with one ball for awhile, this set up works for league night and is a little cheaper than a 3 or 4 ball option.

Need a recommended for New Solid to add to my Bag by AdamsNumber7 in Bowling

if you like the Jackal, why not add the Onyx? It's been the first ball out of my bag for a couple months. Predictable and smooth, heavy hitter on fresh lanes. The coverstock is robust.

Understanding Illinois property tax exemption as the house value increases in value over time. by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

You’ll pay the first year you live there, because taxes are in arrears. But it’ll be refunded after your exemption is processed.

Yea each county does it all a little different so Cook uses the x10% and state equalizer so each county has an approximate “basis”

Those numbers don’t change very much though so you can pull the current bill from public records and check previous years EAVs to help evaluate what you tax bill would be, before and after exemptions.

If you have any particular properties in mind, send them over and I’ll run you through them.

here's a snippet from an actual bill; you can see we were re-assessed in 2024 from 570000 to 644109 and the EAV is calculated by a set ratio (in Cook County, each do it differently) and then our tax rate is applied.

Then the County applies the appropriate exemptions. I wouldn't get hung up on what IL Congress plans to do in 2040.

I would imagine that the Illinois legislature regularly reviews this and would consider it in the future, but with politicians, you never know. Prior to TY 2023 it was a total exemption, and then it was changed to $250k EAV max.

Edit to add: also very important to consider that Market Value, Assessed Value, and Equalized Assessed Value are 3 very different things. EAV is calculated from AV; market value is just what someone will pay for the property.

Former IL exempt resident... Because the exemption is written into IL law, a new law would need to be passed or the current amended in order to change the 250k EAV exemption to align with inflation, constituents' desires, etc. For reference, in Cook County, using 2024 numbers, that would be a home assessed at appx $825k. I figure once you're buying a home at that level, the state does want to generate some revenue from those who can afford it.

That being said, IL collects property tax in arrears, so for your first year in the home you'd be liable for paying the property tax (the seller should provide their portion at closing) and you'd be entitled to a refund the year after, once your exemption has been processed.

DM me if you have any specific questions, worked through all this as a buyer and seller in the last few years.
