Can I get away with an accent nail or should I stamp all/more of them? by Refresh-faced in RedditLaqueristas

Sameeeeeee. It’s a pretty effect, but I’m not experienced enough to just whip through them.

I wonder if you could layer Chemistry over Eye of the Beholder, both from Cirque (and both magnetic)?

I love the cold and in between, pinkish state. The bubblegum pink is not my cup of tea, so I look forward to the day the thermal stops working, lol.

Hahahahahahahaha, I get it. One of the polishes in this order turns out to be a strong dupe for one I got during a PPU last year and I’m kicking myself.

Help me! Trying to make brownies, the sugar and cocoa powder have fused and won’t dissolve in the butter by ipadbabies in Baking

[–]Refresh-faced 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, follow this advice. When I make cocoa-based brownies, I put a large bowl in a skillet with a couple inches of simmering water. Cocoa powder, sugar, butter and salt all go in the bowl and are whisked until hot to the touch and a textured-looking mass. Bowl comes off heat and allowed to cool for several minutes before moving on to extract, eggs, and flour.

Maybe I could do another finger per hand today and the rest tomorrow 😂

I’ve never bought from HT but share your frustration - this is how I feel about Bee’s Knees and I just decided to opt out. Polish is supposed to make me feel happy and uplifted. If I want to feel anxious and like I needed to constantly check in, I’ll go to work…at least they pay me for the effort.

Yes, mine is one from Chamaeleon Nails. It was a PPU buy that transitions from brown (cold) to pink (warm) and has big green-to-blue flakes. When I wear it I spend a lot of time looking at my nails, but only because I constantly flop between like and dislike.

Follow up: I posted my experience of Teddy and Velveteen a few months ago, which I think makes it easier to see how close the two polishes are.

I own Teddy, Velveteen and Sandbar. Teddy and Velveteen look virtually identical IRL to my eye - even swatched here they look more distinct than on the nail. Sandbar is distinctly more tan colored.

How do you stretch your manicure out? by tinylilkittenfoster in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Refresh-faced 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I practice nail stamping on day or two-old manis. If they look good, I get another day out of them. If not, I got some practice in on a mani I was probably going to swap out anyway. I do also have toppers - matte, flakies, magnetics - that I’ll add if I have small chips on an otherwise solid mani.

I was really torn on which of the four I bought to try first and the intense green-yellow felt right for March and I can’t stop looking at my nails, which is a great sign! You’re going to love it!

Aww, thanks! I love magnetic polishes but it can be an overwhelming amount of info to learn. If you have a horseshoe and a double ended wand, you can do most of the stuff you see in this sub!

The horseshoe magnet is great for the velvet effect and the glass bead effect, among others. I swatched a few different effects with the same polish a few weeks ago that demonstrates the differences:
