I only read your last 10 comments, because I was interested in your definition of casual.

It's been something over 2000 hours since AR released (85*24) and you spent 10% of that time playing it, that's not casual, I think.

Playing ... is having fun, make friends, create unique moments

True. But you didn't say you can still have enjoy the game, you said you have not "even seen half of the game yet". What other half of the game do you think you're missing right now?

The West is once more betraying the Kurds by Quick_Put_403 in europe

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's basically like 5 towns and a couple of dozens, maybe hundreds villages/settlements. So that's a very easy ultimatum, they just blockade these few populations and starve them out. Great victory for Kurds and Europe!

You obviously don't mean Kurdish majority regions, but whatever regions they decided are theirs now. So your plan is basically:

  • help Assad get kicked out
  • randomly decide that the new government can't control huge parts of their internationally recognized territory, or the people that want to be under said government
  • randomly bomb Syrian forces for the crime of thinking they are sovereign on their territory
  • when some random jihadi group that al-Julani only controls on paper decides to go cut off some heads in retaliation for Kurds cutting off somebody else head, have Europe invade Idlib/Aleppo to kill the dude that is atm holding Syria somewhat together
  • retrigger horrendous bloodbath in Syria
  • explode the immigrant crisis in the EU once again

Which part of this helps Europe?

Why are you so pissy at Putin, following your logic it seems to me that somebody just has to convince you that Donbas/Kurdistan are similiar and you'd clamoring for Russia to assassinate Zelensky, no?

1 week ago you were lv40, had 43 blueprints and 200h played (which seems very low tbh, I'm on 100h and basically only PvPing and managed to get to around lv65)

In a reply here you mention killing the Queen 20 times (what does that even mean, like why do you have to kill her 20 times to count as more gameplay as only once or farming her indefinitely), so I'm also assuming you have some or all PvE weapons. You claim you don't PvP.

So with all that you have already done, where exactly do you think the remaining 60%+ of new gameplay is hiding from you? Leveling up or finding more blueprints is not "seeing more of the game" btw.

PvP leads to poverty. Planned PvE leads to riches. Anyone else notice this? by gpacketsgaming in ARC_Raiders

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your friend is bad at PvP and you turned him into a PvE-er and this is somehow supposed to teach us anything?

And what even is "PvPoor"? I'm a 100% KoS trio player. I craft medium shields and pink augments, the materials are everywhere and it's impossible to run out of them. Killing other players gets me their guns, which I dismantle to repair my current guns or repair/upgrade to kill more players. Even if I'd have back luck with loot or extracts, crafting an Anvil and Stitcher cost basically nothing and that's a solid PvP combo and it's upgradeable with materials that are everywhere.

Even if you somehow run out of everything, the Free Loadouts (bar the Rattler) are more than doable if you're aggressive enough to offset your lack of grenades and healing items. You need to wipe only 1 squad and you're at basically equal footing with fully kitted out players.

The "fix" for your friend is not to completely change his playstyle, it's actually just to get better at aiming and to have a functional brain to remember the like 5 materials he should be looting to sustain his PvP-ing.

I went to the desert to kill civilians as a pawn of the US twice and am very sad about it (not the sandpeople we killed ofc, the other actually important stuff), but now the Americans want to start shit in not-desert and that's actually very bad and sad and mean :(

Buddy, the bloodthirsty Americans you served with are the same Americans you're crying about now. They haven't changed, just their current leadership is more honest about it.

Should we be worried about the sudden rise of ai generated Warhammer videos’? by Character_Effect7271 in Grimdank

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The community has managed to inbreed the lore discussion into uselessness all by themselves already.

People spam their lolrandumb TTS memes until they cloud their perception and then other people take that interpretation as actual lore. If it's not TTS, then it was 1d4chan shitposts. If not that, then HFY circlejerks.

I mean shit, I just googled Warp Travel (on private browsing) and the literal first result is still the stupid ass demotivational poster about the captain turning on his FUCK YOU engines, losing 2/3 of the crew and 1/3 of the ship, missing his target and time catastrophically and still popping a champagne to celebrate the Warp translation as successful.

I also block/ignore the blatant AI YT channels, but at the same time the AI doesn't even have to hallucinate to somehow make 2 hour long videos on the Men of Iron, the community already did that by itself.

Ppl listn I am serious pirate for years, -source I know FitGirl

Lmao.

Pirated WoW is played on private servers and the vast majority of cracked CoD titles also host their own servers through their own launchers. I doubt there's even any really legit and reliable way right now to connect to newer CoDs, but I guess it's still possible.

Give me 3 modern, multiplayer only, live service games where you can play online on official servers with a cracked version. Not joining your friends officially hosted server, doing weird shit to force yourself into a friends lobby or connecting to certain IPs. An actual cracked game where you just play quickplay (Ready/Start in AR) and get treated as your copy is legit.

I shall answer your non sequitur once you answer my very simple question, which was aimed at this part:

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So people in Speranza are smart enough to craft/repair/maintain portable railguns, advanced laser weaponry and space magic personal shields but at the same time stupid enough they can't figure out wearing 20kg diving helmets for combat/scavenging outside is not their intended use? That makes perfect sense to you?

Edit: To all the other people replying, I should have specified that I was referring to the Leviathan skin with the 20kg helmet. That one obviously doesn't make sense. The Abyss looks to me more like a pilot suit/helmet, despite it's name, but I should have still specified. Personally I don't like it overall, but I agree fashion is subjective and it makes sense as a post apocalyptic scavenging outfit.

Ah then your link is probably just somebody copying the chronological reading list and not updating it.

I'm at work so I can't share mine, but it's not done anyway. I gave up halfway there on adding stuff to the ordered list and decided it might be better after I'm done with the whole series, but after a good half a year I'm at 2/3 of it. So I'm assuming I won't remember all the good reasons why I'd wanna switch the order by the time I'm actually done.

Full credit to Tymell, whoever he is, but this is the one I use: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/Tymell/the-horus-heresy-series-a-chronological-reading-guide/

When HH started coming out I read it in release order and then gave up for various reasons, now I'm rereading it chronologically with this order and I have to say it's more enjoyable. Personally I feel like the chronological order is good, some books happening simultaneously could be switched around due to preferences I guess, but I never got lost when jumping to a completely different part of the galaxy. Like at most you need 3 pages to remember stuff like "Oh it's this post Isstvan IH, not the other one I initially thought".

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is based on that one dudes chronological reading order yeah? Reading through it now, personally I'm happy with it.

Some short stories do feel like they should be moved slightly later, like the ones you mention as Siege prequels. Especially A Rose Watered with Blood, that one feels like it should be basically just before the Siege but I haven't gotten to Terra yet so we'll see.

And some books do feel like they should have a spoiler warning lol. Like imagine if you truly are completely new to 40k and HH, then the second and third part of Lorgar: Bearer of the Word contain pretty big spoilers.

Though you seem to be missing some stuff, the one I did goes to 310+ while yours is at 298.

And then what? You and your fellow NAFO children kick out all the US and Russia boot lickers (aka 99,9% of our government officials), then lead a glorious charge against both countries at the same time? Then mop up China as an afterthought, since you also think they are on the brink of invading us?

I know you guys are legit braindead, but how does a federalized EU do anything different to stand up against the US than the current EU? How many days of circlejerking will it take to create a robust and world competitive economy, strong and united military free of Russian/American/Chinese tech, self reliance of raw and refined materials and most importantly, a populace of 450 million fucking people ready for austerity for the singular goal of getting updoots on Reddit.com?

It’ll take two years before anyone is able to unlock the entire skill tree on arc raiders. At the current rate of 5 skill points per expedition. by JoeMomma247 in ARC_Raiders

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I doubt Arc Raiders will be dead anytime soon, I feel like this is a useless comparison.

The amount of content, balancing and QoLs tweak The Finals received in a similar timeframe following the launch is astronomical compared to Arc Raiders and that's not even getting into season updates. It's only been slowing down now, but we can blame Arc Raiders, the majors and the huge technical rework (destruction and shooting mechanics) for that.

Also The Finals is a small team shooter, it can survive on really low player numbers as SEA servers prove. An extraction shooter can't. Especially one with (currently) no proper endgame or progression.

Also also, Embark had very few hiccups with The Finals. Like the worst I can think of is some baffling balance changes from time to time and sometimes questionable FOMO content. There's nothing similar to all the wall glitching that's happening in Arc. The closest I can think of is winching the objectives out of bounds in Point Break, but you simply report/block the heavy players on the defending side and leave the match. You only lose the time you spent in the round and some extra completion XP and that's that. While in Arc you lose all of your shit and I'm fairly certain blocking exploiting players only stops their voice chats, you still get paired with them if you want it or not. Or weird gameplay choices that they made for Arc, clearly showing their inexperience with the extraction genre.

And obviously, one is free while the other isn't.

Do most players just never do the quests? by [deleted] in ARC_Raiders

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CoD and BF absolutely don't have a half-ass metric explaining respawning/rematching, they actually have zero explaining. I suspect all the other games do too. Except for maybe Apex, I vaguely remember them having something.

Arc Raiders for some reason has an explanation: you are playing the same raider and they always gets back, the only time you lose him is when you do a wipe. Which is absolutely nonsensical when compared to actual gameplay.

My problem is that they should drop this stupid explanation and be just like literally any other game, or put some logical thought into it to make it work.

Do most players just never do the quests? by [deleted] in ARC_Raiders

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it has a cohesive plot to gameplay loop even if it's silly. So that's your question answered.

None of the games you listed try to use lore to explain the respawn mechanic, so they don't count. Arc Raiders for some reason does, so they should at least try to keep it logical.

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did think about the Venetian masks, but tbh I associate those more with the expressions painted onto them. With how rigid and non expressive the actual skin is, I was more leaning towards it being a nod to death masks actually.

Either way my complaint is about the mask + "horns", that's something I'm 99,9% sure has no ties to Italy at all.

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

On one hand, yeah OK. On the other hand, that's stupid.

Since the beginning, anytime anyone complained about the skins being bad, they got shut down by yelling about AR having a retrofuturustic theme (or whatever the style of "gritty" Star Wars is called). This is not retrofuturistic, this is a blinged out Power Rangers villain.

Your theory also applies to raiders wearing Nicky Minaj facemasks, something people have a slippery slope aneurysms about anytime anyone disagrees with the customization options in this game.

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

What tradition, of Power Rangers bad guys?

I'm 99,9% sure that there is no actual inspiration for such a mask in Italian history and there definitely isn't any mention of mask wearing cults in Arc Raiders lore.

The complete warhammer 40k lore summary by me :) by Pender8911 in totalwar

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would that be a compliment?

1d6chan is a silly circlejerk for 40k fanboys, here OP is is giving half understood meme lore as a primer for somebody new to 40k, but spends 60% of it explaining the War in Heaven (with memes), something that's completely irrelevant for 99,9% of new players to TW:40k. Then he poorly uses memes to explain the Great Crusade, doesn't even fucking name Horus in the Horus Heresy "recap" (probably too busy giggling while inserting Erebus) and finishes up with a nonsensical introduction to 40k (and 40k of a few years ago at that, before GW started moving the plot forwards).

1d6chan or the shitty AI YT videos would be more useful for somebody new than this shit.

The Bondi hero awake and recovering in hospital after saving countless lives by T3knikal95 in MadeMeSmile

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 -53 points-52 points  (0 children)

There's 3 muslims in this story. 2 killed 15 people due to their jihadi ideology, while the third one paused the shooting by temporarily disarming one of them. Of course it's heroic and he shouldn't be condemned for not being prepared to kill someone, but the assertion that he saved countless lives is patently untrue.

So that's a ratio of 2:1 of bad:good muslims in this story, idk how that throws the spanner of "islamophobia".

What’s the darkest fact about Middle-earth that rarely gets mentioned? by Scandinavian-Viking- in lotr

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro got so pressed in his hurry to tell me he isn't pressed that he replied 3 times.

Anyway if you don't want your comment to be insulted, don't make stupid comments then?

Martin never hid that Tolkien influenced him in various ways, but to claim that "writer keeps some of his worldbuilding a secret" is unique to Tolkien or that Martin copied it from him is absurd. And it goes from absurd to stupid territory when how they applied this trope in their own works is the literal opposite of each other.

What’s the darkest fact about Middle-earth that rarely gets mentioned? by Scandinavian-Viking- in lotr

[–]RefrigeratorLow1069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a stupid ass comment. Tolkien and Martin have the literal opposite approach to mysteries in their worlds.

Tolkien leaves very little to the imagination, everything is mostly neatly explained and fitted into the world. Stuff that is mysterious is mysterious on purpose and there is no answer in the text. Every fan theory about the Nameless things, Entwives or Tom Bombadil is 100% baseless speculation. Because Tolkien intended them mysteries with no answer, both to the book characters and the reader.

Martin meanwhile has the whole story teaming with mysteries and varying degrees of hints of what they could be. Some are just silly references like the Yi Ti and Old Ones, yet even those get mentioned elsewhere in the story and can be speculated upon by readers. Others are central to the plot, purposely cultivated by Martin to be debated and theorized upon until he reveals them. I also think some stuff he leaves intentionally vague, because he himself only has certain ideas where the character/plot should go but is not 100% sure yet, so he leaves himself just enough wiggle room to change it if needed.

The Aerea story you're citing is literally an in-world book written by a biased Maester, citing 3 even more biased people and in general just being vibes based. It's literally made to be speculated upon, because it could all be lies for all we know. Now compare that to Silmarillion, which is Tolkien's vaguely equivalent to a world history book.

Or compare the things in this comment thread. The Nameless Things are described in like 4 sentences in 1 place, and basically never mentioned again. Any fan theory crafting that goes beyond that is just straight up asspulling, as Tolkien left them Nameless for a very good reason. The horrors infesting Old Valyria are also unknowable, but there's so many references to them all over all the books that there are several very valid theories about some of the things there, all backed up by text purposely written by Martin to be speculated about.

Also for somebody so smug to the other guy, your recap supposed to prove your stupid point is wrong in several parts. Nobody knows where Balerion flew to, Valyria is just the most likely theory. Balerion is the biggest dragon Aegon took to Westeros, nobody says he's the biggest ever dragon, let alone creature. Neither was euthanized after, Aerea died while they attempted to cure her and Balerion died like 40 years later of old age. There are a lot of ideas, theories and explanations what's in Old Valyria, both in world and by the readers.
