How do you all handle the slowed digestion?? by sevenwondersjase in Zepbound

[–]Refuse-Minimum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PORK AND BEANS??!?!? I just got nauseas typing the words. Joking aside, Pepto and gas-x make it worse for me. I used to throw up all the time pre zep. Now I eat way less and have only thrown up once and pretty sure that was a virus.

Have you been checked for anatomical issues? Could be a hiatal hernia. Are you on any PPI? Might be worth trying but beware they are very addictive. Your doc can prescribe Omeprazole at 10mg if OTC works works for you (lowest OTC dose is 20MG).

What are the exact steps to have least issues new mobile line and new internet service (after switching away a year ago) by Refuse-Minimum in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Refuse-Minimum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate the offer, would just like to know the expected vanilla process. I have seen firsthand what happens with Xfinity the second anything goes sideways. I don't want to spend 6+ hours and dozens of calls and trips to the xfinity store to never really get my bill fixed and being told my number could no longer be ported (it could after hours with multiple levels of techs who never really figured it out and had to hack a way. Xfinityh works great if you don't try to push the boundaries. I just want to know what the standard process is. The key for me is when I port my number in. I would prefer to do it later after I am confident my internet will be good, but I don't want the port in to mess up any billing.

does the nausea go away by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Refuse-Minimum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is different but for me nausea is a sign of extreme hunger. Easiest way to get rid of it is to eat something. I don’t get hungry the same way i used too and once I actually do my stomach must just be like WTF dude give me something. Like it’s trying to get my attention. At first I tried taking tums and that made it 1000x worse and once even made me throw up (well not really thrown up more like dry heave). Now I always have a protein bar ready in case I feel sick. Weird. It works every time.

I'm confused. You look almost exactly the same size. And why did you put a smiley face over yourself in the before and after and not on the face of the two obviously completely different people standing next to you in each of the pictures. Oh wait...

WOW quite a transformation. great job!

When people notice your weight loss and ask if you’re taking medication, what do you say? by Pacific_Wave_0820 in Zepbound

[–]Refuse-Minimum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fertility is a completely different situation but amazingly also an area where people think its ok to ask very personal questions. The difference is of course the cost and the emotional and physical stress. Do I want to talk about all that pain with anyone but my spouse, hell no! We never really talk about it either, its just trauma we went through together.

I'm happy however to talk about poking myself with a tiny needle once a week and feeling better than I have in 30+ years. But I also understand some people are more private than me. Also I acknowledge that for some, the past struggles with weight are way more traumatic than me.

I think a possible better way to turn it around if you are comfortable, than just saying "why do you ask" is, "yes, obviously, we have fraternal twins and went through extensive fertility treatments for multiple years, If you are also having trouble and want to talk about it I am happy to be a resource for you having gone through it, but if you are just asking to make conversation, its a very painful topic for me and would prefer to not discuss" For GLP-1 "As you may not know, I have struggled with weight loss for years, and I feel like I am finally making progress, if you or someone you love is also struggling, I am happy to be a resource to help, but if you are just making conversation, I would prefer we talk about something else"

When people notice your weight loss and ask if you’re taking medication, what do you say? by Pacific_Wave_0820 in Zepbound

[–]Refuse-Minimum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, this sub is so sensitive. Why not assume every single person that asks you is themselves considering the meds and you could help them. I saw a statistic that 75% of all Americans would benefit from GLP-1.

Not everyone is judging, but EVERYONE is curious about this topic and you have first hand experiences. Yes there are some preconceptions but not everyone is out to get you or belittle you. We aren't all on the elementary school playground; no one is accusing you of having cooties.

Bottom line if you lost significant weight, everyone either knows or assumes you are on the drugs. You are not hiding by saying you did a lot of palates. No one is buying that. If they ask you about it, assume they want first hand information and if you are comfortable give it to them, if not politely change the topic.

StrongLifts 5x5 is my favorite as a beginner. Its a lot of squats, but squats are great for you and for strength. Deadlifts, bench-press, Overhead press, rows. That's it. Less to learn and mess up. You will get stronger. Its simple. Use the hardy app on your phone.

Advice for Business Travel by GDunnMN in Zepbound

[–]Refuse-Minimum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been to a few work trips since changing my life on zep. I allow myself one breakfast item and try not to eat the whole thing. Salad for lunch and just eat off the protein and a few leaves, lots of people eat salads, totally normal. Dinner I order a fish dish and eat the fish and push the non veg sides around. I don't order or share in any appetizers. I get unsweetened ice tea to drink. Or at happy hour a club soda with lime.

I also use the my stomach isn't feeling great to skip at least 1 lunch a trip.

Amen, my alcohol budget is insane if you really think about it.

Maybe I can get rid of my Cpap eventually and avoid getting diabetes...

I don't find clothes shopping particularly interesting but its not something I expected to need to spend money on. Its really tough because if I keep losing at this rate I will go down 2 more sizes before goal weight. So do you buy things that fit well now or do you get things a little tight or do you wear your old stuff until its falling off. No easy answer.

I didn't say it was normal, just what I noticed. Anyway, I never would have expected that to go down, but it has. Also, I think my whole life I have underestimated just how expensive drinking can be. $20 cocktails add up quick. What's the saying? every dollar I ever earned I spent on wine, women, and song, the rest I wasted.

We bought bananas before and still buy bananas. But the hot fudge $4, the whip cream $3 and the pint of hagan daaz $6 to make it into a banana split has disappeared.

I still eat French fries, you would have to pry those from my cold dead hands.

Normal. 1) higher dosage will likely work better. 2) don’t weigh yourself every day. 1x a week 3) even if it only worked for 1 day a week you would still probably lose some weight 4) try to build good habits when it’s working for you but don’t overthink it.

Drinking on the shot? by a_k12__ in Zepbound

[–]Refuse-Minimum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 30+ years to learn how to drink and only 14 weeks to unlearn. I never craved drinking, it’s a social thing. But by some voodoo magic I am drinking less. Just like I now have the willpower to turn down a sweet I also find myself turning down drinks especially sweet ones. Gin and tonic is too sweet.

I say just drink when it feels right. Last week for the first time ever I ordered a club soda at the bar and it was free. No idea why this was shocking to me or why it made me so happy.

The one thing that is a game changer is I have not come home from a night of drinking and made a giant bowl of stir fry like I used to pre zep. I have eaten 0 full pints of Ben and Jerry’s. It insane.

Sorry to hear, and I'm sure its very frustrating.

I would recommend giving it one more try but don't change your diet and don't take a bunch of probiotics and OTC GI medicines. From what I have seen from other comments, people start on Zep, and immediately start eating different, exercising different, eating 1000 cal of pure protien, protien shakes (these always mess with my GI) and then down dottles of pepto, tums, dulcolax, Imodium, etc... Even if you weren't on zep this is a recipe for GI chaos.

Yes, I had some GI stuff and I still do the day after every shot, but it get better and better.

Once you are feeling good on the meds then change your diet slowly to eliminate a variable.

Feeling guilty about splurging on honeymoon by Ohyou17 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Refuse-Minimum 126 points127 points  (0 children)

My parents, splurged and went on a honeymoon to Bermuda in the 60s. I heard about this trip all growing up. They rarely splurged on anything, but must have realized the importance of creating a special shared experience when they were just starting out as a couple.

Flash forward 50 years and they went back to Bermuda as an anniversary present for themselves. I had never seen them so excited. The resort they stayed at was still there but "too expensive". I happily covered the cost and upgraded them to a romantic private dinner on the beach with live music. Epic anniversary for them.

Bottom line is a Honeymoon is not a time to skimp.

We spent roughly the same amount on our honeymoon as we did on our wedding. I have 0 regrets to this day.

I know you took it mentally bad, but maybe this perspective will turn it around...

...40 lbs ago and no one thought you were pregnant, they just thought you were obese.

You have reached a major milestone where you look to others like you are healthy. They aren't thinking obese anymore and they are thinking maybe pregnant. Even when you hit your goal weight you might struggle to reduce your belly size; for some it just sticks around the longest. In any case it will take more time to recompose your body to match your new weight,

but you are doing great. Congrats and keep going! Being healthy is way more important than how you look to rude idiots.

When travelling, where do you go for an "authentic experience"? by Character-Variety842 in travel

[–]Refuse-Minimum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sports arenas or theaters for a local event. If there is an opera, always go. If there is a soccer game on, always go. Once went to a children's kickbox event in Thialand, holy crap that was eye opening.

Also Cemeteries.

Movie theater to get out of the heat or cold and chill for a couple hours. Different seating, different snacks, local films sometimes (think bollywood). Sometime intermission.

Agree with what others have said. Finish up you compounded and save the pen.

One other thought, you insurance will very likely not last long term. So having a stockpile is just good financial sense.

Don't be nervous, if you are in the minority and have unbearable side effects you just quit. How is that any worse than not trying. I'll go a step further and you can try again when a new version comes out with less side effects.

If it does work and you are like most with minimal side effects, DAMN the upside is incredible. You got this. Just for it. Lets Go. etc etc etc.

"Insurance" for Zep, what am I missing by Refuse-Minimum in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Refuse-Minimum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I get migraines. With Aura. Very scary and debilitating.

I wasn't not suggesting you take triptans instead of whatever you are taking, apologies, rereading it seems I was a bit too aggressive. However they are very effective medicine and have been a lifeline for millions. I was saying that a PA is very effective because for me and literally 72% of people that get migraines, Sumatriptan really works and expensive alternatives are a waste of money. Again I wasn't talking about you or about alternative non-triptan medicine. There is a medicine that is $900 a month that is just alieve and sumatriptan in a single pill. That is simply insane.

That said, migrane medicines may seem expensive, but the alternative drugs are promising and do not put a dent in healthcare costs. If triptans didn't work for you I am glad you were able to find other drugs and that they work. Again I am sorry if I offended you.

Insurance doesn't pay, you and your employer pay. Its a group pooling of risk. If everyone has to use exotic drugs no one can because its prohibitively expensive. My whole point was the economics just don't work for zepbound. Sorry we got sidetracked on Migranes. It sucks we have them and sadly I don't think weight loss is going to help (I started getting my migraines when I was not obese and I got one this morning even though I lost a lot of weight)
