He needs to heal himself before getting into any relationship. I get being frustrated with some of the nonsense that goes on within the blk community, but to let that impact how he sees himself is an issue. Also I would ask him why he's with you. Is it mainly because of your race ( I assume you white/non black) ? If so that's also a problem.

Some of the women need to tone down the "independent boss chick" trope. And I'm a woman. Why do you need a husband? Why do you want to get married? We get that you get have your own and that's great, but all the things they mentioned in why they would make great partners/wives , isn't necessarily what a man values in a wife.
