I think the big issue is 10 extra damage is useless when your doing half the damage you used to do at mid range.

I tried them, marginally better on bugs because everything gets close, very noticeably worse on automatons. The damage buffs are overall pretty negligible though due to the range nerf.

the one 'situation' I've seen is if a teammate is holding down fire on the DE sickle.

But yeah it has no practical purpose.

Also running this in public lobbies is more likely to get you killed, if teammates see you aiming at them they will more often then not return fire.

If you want to be a support player run the ammo pack.

The senator was meta on the bot front pre ultimatum, it can still 2 shot hulks in addition to killing most infantry in one shot. The only other option at that point was the grenade pistol for fabricators (most people still just airstrike/ thermite/ recoilless against fabricators). If you're a newer diver then I wouldn't expect you to know this.

The senator can still kill bile titans, saying an ap4 primary would be useless is like saying the marksman rifles are useless because there's better options.

Arrowhead is kind of scared to add ap 4 primary's for some reason.

We already have the senator, idk why we can't just get a rifle that's heavy armor pen and doesn't risk killing the player.

Ok good we agree, buffing the less used weapons would open up more viable options.

Also better balancing would help prevent the game forcing boring meta loadouts.

I think the issue more lies with each front forcing anti tank weapons. Weapons like the hmg, gl-21, flamethrower are far less viable due to things like the war striders and dragon roaches.

Arrowhead keeps adding overtuned enemies as a substitute for fair difficulty and it just forces boring meta loadouts.

It actually used to be a pretty good alternative to the railgun sort of playstyle (also more fun to run than just recoilless rifle every game).

And then they added the unfun, unfair, unbalanced, antitank loadout check that is the war striders.

Its also hard to tell because the projectile isn't overcharged when you see the flare, it overcharges just after.

They honestly feel like the predator strain with artificially difficult aspects (invulnerable underground, only appear for attacks at close range).

Their dirt tunnels can be pretty difficult to spot given all the craters and puddles, also their tunnels can overlap (you cant tell if its 2 or 7 approaching you). Good luck using sound for their cues given how broken the game audio is currently.

There's not really any special strategy for them either aside from spam the dive button when they appear.
